If you don't play both sides, your opinion is wrong
Someone who only plays and worships one side shouldn't be giving feedback or ask for changes. It's crazy how many people have no idea what they're talking about because they don't want to play the game in its integrality. To have a full understanding of balance, you need to play survivor and killer.
People who actively play both sides are superior.
Growing tired of people acting like toddlers and getting upset over a god damn video game made for our entertainment.
You can do better than this.

Everyone has a valid opinion.

Agreed. The game encourages people to play both sides, and yet, so many people are ridiculously biased.
10 -
Not necessarily true. If I had 10 bad games in a row against clown, and went to the forums to rant that clown is OP and needs nerfs, is that a valid opinion? Obviously not, I would just need to improve my survivor gameplay.
24 -
I never said everything people say is valid. I said everyone has a valid opinion.
6 -
And yet, that's patently not true. 🤔
12 -
I play survivor basically 90% of the time but I try to not have biased opinions
4 -
I guess that you can prove that people can’t have valid opinions just because they play one/mostly play one side?
0 -
Well yes and no.
No, they're not wrong. Anyone can tell you what they find fair or fun without playing both sides. You can even say what seems too powerful or weak. However yes, you're probably not going to be able to give unbiased feedback.
All feedback is still nice to have.
25 -
I agree that people who play both sides equally have a better understanding of balance, but just because someone plays one side doesn't automatically make their opinion wrong.
10 -
Damn, I did not recognize you without the Bubba Groot!
And yes... I actually don't know if the OP is just trolling...
5 -
To be fair I don’t think their opinion is wrong just more biased towards one side. Which depending on the topic can cloud any expectation of them actually providing factual feedback or getting a full understanding of the other side.

I may play survivor basically all the time but I do understand the pains of killer lmao

I play killer most of the time but understand struggles survivors face, such as how and why Spirit, Nurse and old Legion got changes. I know it sucks to get camped and tunnelled which is why I avoid doing it as killer. And sure, I'm biased, I won't argue against that, but nearly every person on this forum is biased in some way. Is my opinion still invalid? You can only play one side majority of the time but can still understand when there are problems for the other side.

This pic is obviously shopped. You can clearly tell that the words on the paper Wraith is holding are edited in.
4 -
And someone put Mcote’s (I think?) body on Wraith
2 -
Maybe, but the game has some obviously things that you can see without necessarialy playing both sides. Haddonfield is good for survivors, Hawkins not that good... Gen speed is a problem, prayer beads/iri heads was always bullshit
The thing is, DBD players are very defensive when they're talking about their survivor or killer role (including me)

Dammit, you got me.

You say you're tired of people acting like toddlers, but trying too force a playstyle on people is childish IMO. Everyone's opinion's matter, even if it is biased. Long as you take into account that it is biased then what's the problem. I personally don't play survivor unless it's for the archives because I can't rely on randoms and I find killer 100% more fun, but that doesn't mean my opinion is invalid.
Stop gatekeeping and let people use freedom of speech, everyone's opinion is worth sharing, And you can't have a wrong opinion, it's why it's called an opinion.
3 -
While I agree everyone has an opinion I wouldn't say they are all valid.
2 -
You see? Your opinion about this is valid too
2 -
Thats hilarious. If you played this game throughout all ranks you should have all fundamental understanding you need to give neutral feedback. Thus many players just dont want to be neutral at all, which causes postings like yours. Theres no serious benefit regarding feedback for playing both sides equally.
1 -
Everyone has a valid opinion, it's just those that play both sides typically has a better one cause survivors will cry over ANYTHING the killer gets that stops the survivors being a better option as a killer than the killer and killers cry over ANYTHING that does finally get fixed as either not good enough or find a way to make it seem survivor advantage, as someone who plays both sides, survivors definitely has it easy as hell, most of my survivor games are wins, at high ranks mind you, and my killer games are met with trouble each time, except Vs Claudette they seem to think everyone has the same brightness as them lol, blending counter is the TV itself, killers issues are gens, they are too quick, as a survivor it's boring knowing I go into a game and 99% likely I've won, cause gens are super quick, as a killer it makes me decide on late game cause late game is 3 minutes in (#########?) and thus becomes a better choice, such as noed cause gen rush must be punished and here we go, don't do totems, then you can die

I think it is good to hear both sides even if tey play only one side. The devs can look at it and just balance something to work for both. But lets be fair very often the problems are just one sided and the other side is trying to prove them wrong. And the hardest part is for the devs is to decide to what extend they are right/wrong.
I think a lot of players here are just new or in general not good at the game which is fine. You can't blame them for that really. It is a problem if they are told 10 times they are wrong and they keep saying it ... like for exmaple that Hawkins is a survivor sided map. At least I can just link them the stats now and not waste time to explain.

Every opinion is biased. It doesn't matter if you main a side or play 50/50. Your opinion will be colored by your own personal experience.
4 -
since we are in the realm of philosophy now, both the statement only who plays both sides can have valid opinions and everyone has a valid opinion are intrinsically wrong :P.
Peanits stated the obvious: yes, if you play only one side your opinion will probably be biased, but even your opinion may be relevant (which is different from saying it is valid, meaning true).
1 -
Everyone is free to speak their own mind, the devs should know who to listen to. Then again, sometimes I'd like to just slap them in the face when they listen to the wrong people.
0 -
I see a lot of people saying their opinion matters based on balance even if they are biased. But does it? if you are biased then why is that valid or helpful for making positive changes for the game.
1 -
Holy crap, you're right. I almost missed that. Kudos to the shopper for making it look so seamless.
4 -
Get outta here you overly biased survivor main

I thought it went BING BONG GIANT DONG but you're right tho.

The forums would be a lot better if you needed to login with an account with 200 hours each minimum

Yes everyone can have an opinion. However valid...no.lol

I’ll reformulate:” if you dont play at least at rank 1-2 solo your opinion is wrong

Anyone who disagrees with my opinions are not relevant...unfollow.

Definition of opinion
a view or judgment formed about something, not necessarily based on fact or knowledge:
Thus you really can't say somones opinion is wrong. For instance i can't stand Wraith. In my opinion, he is the hardest killer to play against. Id rather play against spirit. I know looking at the stats, im completely wrong factually. Doesn't change the fact that i hate the bing bong boy.
0 -
Obviously he was over performing.
3 -
Luckily I play both sides.

I love you

I mean they're not wrong and people that play both sides don't automatically have a superior opinion.
But exclusively playing one side might make someone less aware of their own natural bias. Nothing inherently wrong with being biased (everyone's biased to some extent), but sometimes it's important to take a step back and acknowledge it if at all possible.
I believe some posts like the ones that basically contain no information beyond "lol ur a <role> main so ur wrong" are garbage, but as long as they don't break forum rules they should be allowed even though I despise them. People can make up their own mind what they think about the posts of others afterall.

I wouldn't say someone's opinion is ever wrong if they primarily play one side. However those people should then listen more to the other side on why they may disagree.
I honestly play 90% survivor however I have played enough killer over the years and faced enough killers to know what is and isn't balanced. I have an open enough mind to understand why certain things are balanced and others aren't.

So pretty much those who play both sides should be entitled and the rest shouldn't have an opinion or a saying in a matter, right? That's honestly how I read it and that shouldn't be the case at all.
Just because you play in both sides, doesn't mean you would have a better understanding to those who focus on one side more than the other. It's good to have an understanding to all sides(rather you are a killer main, surivior main or both) so that you can make an accurate conclusion to what it is like.
Let me put it like this, you may understanding what it is like in both sides, but it doesnt mean your level of understanding comes close to those who have spent all there time in one side. This is because they are far more experience, used to it and learnt to adapt to there environment. However, you are having to switch into both sides with less experienced and less knowledge to those who have been experience to one side, do you understand?

I'm agree. If You don't play both sides You know nothing about how does it feel being at the other side.

But if you had 10 bad games PLAYING as the Clown, you wouldn’t come to the forums to complain. Which is what the post is saying
