More than 1 survivor on a gen, bar is RED
how come the progression bar is red which indicates slower progression rather than yellow/gold which indicates faster progression? i never understood why this was changed. i know it’s a small thing but i kinda wish they’d change it back.

It's for your personal speed.

The colour of the bar changes based on how many charges you're putting into that interaction per second. Red means fewer than 1, yellow means more than 1. In the case of a generator, when someone else is working on a generator, you receive an inefficiency and only add 0.9 charges to that generator each second. Even though the generator overall is being completely faster, you personally are putting fewer charges into it than normal.

Survivors have a 10% reduced speed for each other survivor on the gen.

OH okay that makes a lot more sense now. thank you so much for explaining that to me!

Just to summarize it: If two survivors or more are working on a generator together it's not as efficient as working on it alone. Just don't forget if 3 survivors work on different gens, while one other survivor is trying to waste the killers time, you might end the game in less than 5 minutes and escape. You'll probably not pip but it's the power of a survivor.

When two people are on the gen your personal speed goes down, but as a group you are going faster then before.

Incidentally, the mechanic has always operated as described above. When the bar was changed to appear red, that was a UI change, not a mechanical one, meant to give a visual indication of something which was already the case.

I would say more like
Imagine one survivor values 5 points repairing a gen
before, when another survivor joined, it also did 5, with this, speed is 10, and it ended veery quickly.
To balance it a little bit, they done it so instead of 5, when two are working on the same gen, both is reduced to 4.
Yes, it is faster, but not as fast as 5+5, it's 4+4 now.
