How would you feel if DBD ended?
I mean in a worse case than Friday 13th, say it all went to pot and the games servers shut and there was no more Dead By Daylight. How would you feel?
I am actually seriously contemplating retiring from DBD. As I have mentioned in various posts: I just don't have fun anymore. In fact, I feel frustrated and irritated, usually after a single game of DBD. So if it all ended tomorrow, I wouldn't care. I would be a bit miffed that I had spent a considerable bit of money on DLC, but it wouldn't be the end of the world.
I am not buying the Premium Pass for Tome 2. Main reasons being that the challenges are too time consuming and the unlockables are subpar. I don't want to be sitting on my backside for hours on end in the hopes of completing a frustrating challenge in order to unlock re-coloured cosmetic items. Sod that.
But I guess there are those who still find it fun and invest in the game. But if you didn't have it...would you be bothered?

Good. BHVR are turning this game into a revolving door MTX cashcow, they've already wasted money made from this game to prop up their failed game Deathgarden, and now with that dying once again they're seemingly just interested in having new players come in, buy MTX, play until they're competent and realise there's no depth or high level balancing, then leave.

I would go play Civ

I think I’ll always love this game from a lore perspective. I have grown such an attachment to the original characters especially.
but gameplay wise this game has been nothing but frustrating for the past few months. I even started playing deathgarden again because I’ve been so bored of DBD.
I think I’d be disappointed more than anything if the game shut down; since they failed to fix what was actually making people leave the game. But other than that I really can’t say I’d care.

How would I feel if DbD ended?
Relieved. Upset about the money I'd spent, a bit sad that I can no longer pull up Ash and hear his one liners and dress him up in different outfits like a doll, but still... relieved.

I think I would feel "justified". I honestly think 2020/2021 is when it actually happens.
11 -
I would very much like to see a game with gameplay similar to F13 but a choice of original horror characters.

Learn to code and sort it out.

Player numbers have been stagnant for a year and a half, with 20k being the average with a -4k/+3k variance. Now while these aren't awful numbers, the last half a year has seen constant nerfs against the highest tier of Killers and now the highest tier killer perk, there's been plenty of complaints about survivor queue times recently and once the hype of a new patch wears off in about a week or two I'd expect to see those get even worse. The game is being made to appeal to new players while ignoring the high skill level of play, which will turn it into the revolving door of players I spoke about in the above comment I made.

Honestly, pretty sad. Hopefully this doesn't happen while I'm alive.

I took 9 months off from December 2018 (Legion launch) until August 2019. Took me until about December to be burnt out again. Now I’m on another break.
I would be elated. I have 5k hours in the game, and ready to see a new champion reign supreme.

I spent maybe a total of 40 bucks on this game. Been playing since October, so I feel like I got my money’s worth. It’s not the end of the world if it shut down, plenty of other games to play.

Same. A little bummed that I've bought cosmetics, but I'd just move on to several other games. I would miss the asymmetrical aspect of it all the most. But I agree, it's not really fun anymore. This ruin change is like putting the game on ultra ez mode. There's no early game pressure that a non-billy/spirit has anymore, can just pound through gens and escape. In the past, I would have mentioned nurse, but seeing a (good) nurse is urban legend these days.
Also in the same boat about Tome 2. I really don't like how it's changed the game within the game. Especially queue'ing in solo, everyone just pops in to do their specific challenge and peaces out. Also not a fan of feeling like I "have" to play DBD, especially when I had several nights in Tome 1 where I'd get a whopping 8 games in 3 hours.
Doesn't matter much though anymore. This game belongs to new players now

I'd be fine with it. It's a decent game at best in a genre where everyone else manages to somehow be mediocre. There are plenty of other games in different genres that I play that are well above the standards of what BHVR puts out, we just need someone to do that in this genre.

I love the game, I love the lore, I love the DESIGNS of characters. But, I desperately hate the community. Never on any game I have ever played have I met such a sweaty, salty, group of toxic people. I would miss the game but I would also thank The Entity that it can rest in peace.

Unlockables are subpar?? Somebody really be sleeping on that Elephant clown cosmetic..
In the first place it's really cool that community creations are beginning to find their way into DBD in some form or another, and to read you disregard that completely just kinda rubs the wrong way.

Careful - too much logic is forbidden.

I started feeling this way around the anniversary. The fact that we have lost events(Summer BBQ, Hallowed Blight, Winter) bummed me out. The game feels really stale and you can't tell what time of year you are playing.
The other changes this year:
Nurse
Legion Again
Ruin
Instaheals
Battle/Grind Pass
Plus the bugs
I'm ready for something new.

I wouldn't be bothered by it, games come and go.
I would miss it though, i still enjoy it.

Desperate for any kind of human attention, simple as that.
To answer @Dr_Loomis probably sad about it but also relieved.

His "issue" is that he's a shill, he joins the forums and on the very same day starts hyping up the paid battlepass system, and gets a dev response. Might be a plant, might just be some dude who's unhealthily obsessed with the game.

I'd still like at LEAST 5 more years of DBD....It still has an allure and fun factor that I cant replace currently.... It literally ia the only game where I can stalk and kill others as notable Horror Movie Icons, as well as some great original characters. It having a nice lore/backstory going on helps, as well as having the fun aspect of Perks and builds....
It just needs the right hands to iron out all the issues & BS that weigh it down....if it just ended...Id be pretty bummed out :/ eventually Id be over it....but I feel the game can have a lot of life to it still.
2 -
I'd love to tell you your issues but I ain't going to.
You can figure em out yourself and they're pretty clear
0 -
I wouldn't really care and if it died I wouldn't be surprised.
2 -
Pretty much the same.
I have always loved horror, but this game is just a stress-fest. I'm not going to stick with it just because it's got all (or most) of my favourite horror characters in it. That's what caught my eye about DBD, the announcement of Michael Myers' inclusion on PC. When it came out on PS4, I couldn't wait to play as Myers.
But now, 2.5+ years later, I can't be bothered anymore. It had it's moments but now I want to do other things.
To be honest if F13 was still going strong with DLC releases, I doubt I would have played DBD after Freddy was released.
I actually watched all of the SAW franchise and Stranger Things because of DBD.
I hope people enjoy DBD in the future.
I bet in a few weeks a Friday 13th chapter will be released 😂

I feel like if a genuine competitor in the asymmetrical horror genre emerges then DbD will suffer hugely. Predator: Hunting Grounds and Resident Evil: Resistance are both around the corner so time will tell
3 -
I updated afew games I use to play before DBD and have just been hopin on those more when DBD stresses me out. Ive gotten rusty at Overwater and theres aton of stuff to grind for on Warframe now that I dont have.

Hi. I was referencing the Premium Pass. I thought Elephant was on the free pass?
0 -
I think that I was going to have a lot more time to do things
1 -
Which if I'm not mistaken would be the first time a AAA studio would be throwing their hat in the ring against BHVR.
3 -
Im not 100% sure to be honest. I know the Predator character is a HUGE attraction, one many people on these forums have asked to see in DbD for years.
I dont know much about RE:R yet but there is quite a bit of hype surrounding it so far.
0 -
Indeed. Predator is a huge attraction...and when it comes to Resident Evil...those devs have been hitting it out of the park for a good while now, so if I were BHVR, I'd step up my game. Though, I think people are right when they know they are on borrowed time and are planning for the short term to make as much cash as possible.

Like today: tried to get a survivor game...waited and waited...wasn't getting a game...cancelled...deleted my Kate Unhooking daily...got 4 x blink hits with Nurse instead...went to play killer game as nurse...got straight to lobby...then thought: "Why?". Why am I doing this?
MUST DO CHALLENGE! 😂 MUST GET BLOODPOINTS! 😂 MUST UPGRADE KILLER! 😂 MUST PRESTIGE KILLER! 😂
I felt I was almost becoming a CONSOOMER as at one point I was on the verge of CONSOOOOOOMING everything that was being released. New skins! Wow! Must have! Now!
But no I am not fussed and feel better for it.
3 -
Totally agree! Scrapping events altogether and replacing it with the rift was the straw that broke the camel's back.
Trying to maximize profits (for nothing more than average cosmetics) and at the same time putting as little effort into the gameplay as possible isnt a good sign
5 -
Indeed. You can tell it's going south when the game is nearly 4 years old and they are still catering to new players as the sole reason for balance changes in patches.
4 -
I would feel relieved honestly. So many hours wasted, i couldve spent on actively learning another language or smth. Maybe a little bit sad but id get over it.
3 -
I would be somewhat somber because I've invested a lot of time into DbD, but at the same time I would think to myself: "You know, the devs had it coming with how they've treated the game and the player base. Now I can hopefully move onto to a new game with a bright future."
5 -
Oh yeah that's a good point.
I do feel that I have wasted countless hours playing a game that honestly wasn't that fun! I was only playing cause I love horror. I'm such a spoon.
I wish I has used the time doing other things. Thankfully it's not too late to change.
2 -
You know, it almost makes a feel a little queasy thinking about all the negative energy conjured up by this game. My recent comments are a testament to that.
Actually. No. I'm not bothered. Freedom! 😂
0 -
I am fine with it, I only play like 2 or 3 matches nowadays and completing the daily ritual. I ain't having fun no more.
1 -
Yeah I agree 100%
Went on today, went to do a Nurse 4 x blink hits challenge...and just thought 'sod this' and switched off.
Played on this game called Shiny off PSN...it only cost 14p in a sale. Which is a crazy price. But it is CRAP so...
0 -
Changed my mind after how matches have gone today..... More people DCing than I have ever seen since returning to play....more toxic Survivors and bad matchmaking.....
My thoughts?
3 -
I would miss it, like all games that i played before. But new ones will take its place.
2 -
I’ll be sad if the game died but honestly the devs are the fault of it. The chapters and the fact that no other game is like this one is the reason that I play it. Also not having events killed this game, it was the closest we got to a “different” game mode, what the majority of the community wants. I wouldn’t say the game is getting stale for me but it’s getting there.
4 -
Wait for the sequel.

I went back to F13th, it got a bug and balance patch today too despite them being blocked from making new content. The devs have ruined what was one of the most fun and unique games I've ever played and let me express my love for horror. I'll still play sometimes but I've never lost this much interest in the game before today's patch
2 -
If a nightmare company like EA bought DbD and turned it into a sellout product like Battlefront 2 but overhauled the code into functionality would it really be worse that the spot we're in now?
1 -
I wouldn't feel a thing since I'd be playing something else by then.
I really really miss Final Fantasy XI though. I was really invested in my group and the friends I had there. I'm really looking forward to Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen, hoping that I can relive the good MMO days.
3 -
To be honest I think I would be pretty upset at first, but then quickly would be relieved that I no longer need to make excuses to myself to play the game I don't really enjoy anymore
