Underrated Perks

NullEXE Member Posts: 1,632

I think this will help with the dev's planning to update under used perks, or gonna greatly skew results. Doesn't matter - let's go.

I'll Start

Hex: The Third Seal - Do you even realize how awful it is when all the survivors are blinded? If you don't find that totem, and you're solo vs a stealth Killer. You can't save anyone.

Babysitter. Seeing the Killer’s aura is remarkably useful information to help you judge if the unhooked person is safe to heal or not, and if you’re good at looping, you’ll want the Killer to come for your ass since doing so will make them waste time catching you while your team hammers gens.

For me, Surge is a great one. Yeah, I know a lot of killer mains are probably saying it's the worst ever perk, but hey, that 8% Gen regress, along with regular regress comes in damn handy when you need to get back on a chase and can't waste time kicking a Gen. Plus, combined with Thrilling Tremors. Buys a little time.

Babysitter is terrible in solo because the unhooked usually runs toward you or the killer.

For me it would be "Alert" as a player who is deaf in 1 ear ( i cannot use headphones to tell directional sound) Alert gives you regular map wide snapshots of where the killer is and what direction they are likely to be coming from, particularly when you get close to end game and the last gens are being hotly contested

Considering that the game tells them they have Babysitter on, that shouldn’t be happening, and deducing that the Survivor is running towards the Killer should be very easy. If it does happen to you, I’m sorry that you’re playing with people who underwent severe cranial trauma at some point in their life.

More people would if we all learned to use it to its full potential and elicit an acknowledgement of its existence.

Just jumpin' in real quick in response to the OP, it's worth noting that Third Seal does not hide the location/scream when the killer hooks someone, it only blocks the aura afterwards. If they're paying attention when they hook the survivor, they'll know roughly where the hooked guy is anyway.

Could be neat if it hid the location as well, though.

For me, I'll say Deerstalker. It's a ton of info if you start to snowball.

I'm all ears is severely underrated.

And people should start using kindred more. The amount of times I see multiple people rushing to unhook me, while I'm using it, is astonishing. They don't even realize they can see each other or that the killer went their way after the hook.

I’ll agree with Peanits and say Deerstalker. It’s helped out a ton when survivors like to be ballsy and play close to one another. I down one, go after another that’s nearby, down them, and I’m easily able to locate the first downed survivor. It also helps that I’m horrible at finding bodies on the ground in certain maps..

I’ll also go ahead and say We’ll Make It. I love this perk and I’m currently using it on my David (my main) in conjunction with WGLF to go for safe hook rescues and quick heals. I also love that it stays active for an additional 90 seconds, making you a great healer that can counter Thana/Sloppy quite well.

That's probably because nobody runs Babysitter. Not saying it's a bad perk. But I sure as hell never expected it the handful of times someone had it.

As for the OP. There's tons of underrated perks. Botany, Empathy, and We'll Make It are great for healer builds. Better Together is nice for when you want your team to help knock out a gen. The killer aura when downing a survivor is also nice. Streetwise is another solid perk that no one uses.

    Open.

    Handed.

Run it with Kindred, Bond, and Spine Chill. You know where everyone is at all times. You get to see the killer from 24 meters away from a hooked survivor, and it buffs everyone else's aura perks. Anyone who is also running Kindred also gets the 24m killer vision, anyone using Plunderer's gets more range, etc.

Up the ante is actually more helpful than people think, and makes a massively good combo with Slippery meat

Which is why sometimes, I just slug people, you can't even find them on the ground because of an aura, you have to listen to them... The person blinded can't crawl to anyone because he can't see them.

The hook part of third seal actually makes it a bad choice to hook them.

@Peanits that would be great as it creates more room for mind gaming

Killer: Dark Devotion. After the recent buff it got, this perk is now super fun! Use it on a non-stealth killer, and it will really catch people off guard! I used it on Freddy last night and got a gen grab along with several surprise hits out of it.

Survivor: Autodidact. It's a little chancey with skill checks being RNG but when you get it to work, it doesn't matter what anti-heal the killer is running. Getting it to 5 tokens is super satisfying.

    For me it's Balanced landing.

I know it's a bit bad after the nerf, but I can't use Sprint burst and I despise lithe, this awful creation.

Another favorite of mine, guilty pleasure you may say, is overcharge. It's so unexpected when first used and it works like a second surveillance that regress the gen. I love it so much ❤️💙💙❤️

    Kindred

It's amazing after the recent buffs. Saves you time to know when to go for unhooks and when to do gens. If it's you who gets hooked it significantly increases your chances of beiing saved without wasting anyone's time from gens by making 2+ survivors run for you.

Spies. For the life of me I don’t understand why so many killers speak poorly of this one! It’s so extremely useful because survivors are rarely ever careful around crows. Beyond this, you might get lucky and end up at Hawkins.

Bloop echo, 45 sec exhaustion with 60 sec cooldown. If you play a killer that can keep everyone injured like Legion, Plague, Nurse, Spirit, Billy or Oni it is insanely powerfull.

I'm going to second Autodidact! If you play altruistically it is extremely helpful. It can take some time to build up your speed but once you have a few tokens those heals are almost instant. I would also like to throw Aftercare (especially paired with Autodidact), and Distortion. Aftercare because, as mentioned before, if you play altruistically it can give you information as to your teammates' whereabouts. Distortion is nice because you can get a pretty good amount of information from it, even without losing any tokens. You can tell if they have BBQ, Nurses, Bitter Murmur, Rancor, etc so long as you are watching your tokens and noting what happened when you lost one.
