Seems possible. I really hope they do, because let's face it. They're useless at this point.

Other than for you just to personally see yourself, it seems so.
So when people gave others a hard time for getting angry about the last patch notes showing ranks removed from the end game screen because it never actually came to pass, they were actually right all along. The change was indeed coming, just not in that patch.
Terrible change imo. It's a way of covering up the problem rather than fixing it.

Yeah, it sounds like they're just going to remove ranks and match us with anyone, while claiming we're being matched via skill.

I still don't see why you would not show ranks in the tally screen. Or at least the skill rating. If I get demolished I'd not feel as bad if I see they have a much higher rating.

Why balance your game when you can just throw people of all levels into a match together. 50/50 effect at its finest - you either dominate your games or get dominated. Seems like there will be much fewer games that are more evenly matched and satisfying.

Oh boy here we go.
Current ranks are messed up no doubt about it. The new rank reset has put allowed all the potatoes into red ranks. Meanwhile old rank reset did have plenty of toxic 4000hour tbaggers at green ranks who just didn’t play that much.
I’d like to believe this system will be better I really would. However I forsee myself getting put with potatoes, dying with no gens done then being put with more potatoes resulting in a neverending spiral until I end up at the bottom of matchmaking with the rank 20s who go an entire trial without even touching a gen.
I’d like to know exactly what they’re counting as a win and what they’re using to determine skill.

Makes sense I guess but this new Skill level should be shown as replacement.
Otherwise how are we to know the Game is actually putting us together with people of the same level?

The better solution would be to leave them in, instead of insulting our intelligence (more or less saying "You're all idiots") by removing them so "we don't get confused". We're not stupid.

The catch is exactly that: they aren't judging if you win or lose rather if you did well or not. I assume that if you did a great job but the others don't then you "won" and they "lose".

I really dont like this change. May be knee-jerk reaction here but i like knowing if i do good against higher ranked people. Without rank there wont be any way for me to see just how bad i suck!

No one can see whether it was fair match making or not if the results don't show any ranks/ratings. Right?

On the one hand, the new system they propose does seem to be better for matchmaking than the current system (assuming it actually works, of course). On the other hand, I don't see why that means we need to have the new metric for matchmaking (Skill Rating) hidden from everyone. If the system doesn't work, we won't really have a good way of knowing beyond "gee, this matchmaking feels off for some reason." It doesn't seem like players will have a good way of knowing if the system actually is flawed or if it's just a perception thing. That to me does not seem like a good thing.

Sounds good to me, basically like a casual queue from now on since ranks officially won't matter anymore and won't be seen anyway. I can screw around on other killers with more peace of mind.

Your correct they won't but someone who is new to the game that gets thrown into a match with people with alot more experience is not going to have fun, and will possibly qui the game. Ranks 17 and up was for new people and people who haven't played for some time now your going to lump everyone together. Why cause you dont want to fix your broken matchmaking system. Or cause queues tak longer at rank 1

Lets just think about this for a moment...
1) Killers complain about being ranked with 10,000 hour elite looper survivors - You used to get these at green ranks. People simply didn't play enough to rank up.
2) Survivors complain about being put with potatoes - New rank reset allows people that aren't very good to boost to red ranks then jeopardize games.
Theoretically a new skill system would solve both killer and survivor complaints. The question is, can they pull it off? it's certainly an ambitious undertaking.

@Peanits Have you considered showing the skill levels for more feedback from the community? Maybe not at that early point if you need to get more basic information, I can imagine that it might be rough to scrape useful feedback on an alpha release :P
Also it maybe needs to be announced that discussions on this topic should always refer to video captures, because personal perception might vary too strong to just take the users word on how well he performed.
Most, I am personally interested in how the skill level is calculated :) but I think the community can give a huge and valuable feedback on that. Like, look at a video and make a poll on how well the system rated that performance? With hundreds or probably thousands of votes? Probably the best validation you can get.

Why is the 'hidden skill rating' hidden? At least, in the post game screen? Is this another one of those 'everybody is inclusive' deals, where we can't judge a players actions on their skill rating? If my team players poorly, I'd like some evidence as to why. and knowing their skill, either by how they played or by this 'skill rating, aids in that.

This won't fix anything. You will get new people going up grouped up with old people and a killer who hasn't played for 3 months

They want to split each killer character into their own rank/skill queue too, so you will be judged on each killer and how you perform with them
Huntress - hatchet accuracy
Trapper - survivors caught in traps per game
Leatherface - Total basement time
etc
