The Shape: A half of his addons died.
The Shape: Fixed an issue that caused the Shape's Evil Within extending add-ons to only increase the required stalking amount on the first activation of Evil Within III.
Why did you need to nerf him.

thats a bug fix tho?
15 -
Smh, he wasn't oppressive at all.
Any reason, devs?
9 -
It's a bug fix. It's how he was intended to be played, and how he was on release (as those add-ons to my knowledge haven't been touched since.)
It's really not that bad haha, I think otz may have discovered this without knowing it was a bug when he was developing his killer add-on tier video, but it never did feel right to me. Glad to hear it's a bug.
7 -
It is a nerf guys, if you look at the inital dev-written description it already says "For the first time". idk tho play someone else for now I guess
13 -
As if he wasn't bad enough, lol.
1 -
MEh. Those add ons are all trash anyway. With base you know you have 1 EW2 and 7 possible EW3s. Using those add ons messes with the formula and most survivors will hide from a T3 wasting it anyway.
0 -
Yay it's spine chill all over again.
Poor mikey. At least his stalking is way less broken.
2 -
He's not bad at all. Nothing has changed either. Its a bug fix.
1 -
Is he going to be getting anything to compensate? I think we all know its a bug but its been their forever and generally it makes those addons less useful now, and hes probably barely a midtier killer at best.
1 -
Just curious when you say he's performing perfectly fine as is (which I agree he's in a decent spot), is that based on stats? Like in how he's performing with kill rates in red ranks?
3 -
After the first activation of Tier 3, doesn't he have a chunk of T3 already gained?
0 -
The description says "for the first time" though
12 -
Yea, how is it a bug if the add-on description themselves say that it's part of what it does?
I don't see how that's anything other than the add-ons performing as intended.
8 -
A bug that ompletelly changed the text on all of his addons?
Weird. Suspicious at least.
10 -
So they are releasing soul guard which is potentially a game breaking survivor perk and now they are stealth nerfing killers...
Yep its BHVR's special.
3 -
Who knows how long this has been in the game. If it were a survivor bug that benefited them you'd all be saying devs never fix bugs that help survivors or hurt killers. But because it was a bug that favored the killer it's called a nerf lol.
And people actually expect to be "compensated" for a fixed bug 🤦
2 -
Given the internal descriptions of the add-ons in question say "For the first time" as part of the evil within level up requirement so Its not a bug and the devs are trying to stealth nerf michael.
8 -
Wait how was this a nerf? I am confused. Doesn’t it say that they fixed the add ons so they work as intended. So now with the fix, the add ons now also increase the Evil within 3 duration on the first activation as opposed to before where it didn’t.
2 -
What's more relevant? Internal descriptions or the ones that have been in game for all to see since release?
0 -
My thoughts exactly!
where are all the people that complained that killer favoring bugs always get fixed immediately now? They are twisting the words and want to make this a nerf instead of a fix...
1 -
The internal item descriptions also have the direct numbers aka the true effects of the item/perk.
3 -
But they're removing an effect specified by the text of the add-ons in questions.
If it was just a bug fix, I don't think anyone would complain or ask for justification (who I am kidding, someone would, but you know what I mean: fewer people would) - but they are removing what is apparently a legitimate effect of the add-on and saying it's a bug fix.
Unless somehow, the text was bugged too? But then at that point where do we draw the line between bugs and intended effects?
Also not every thread needs to turn into another Survivor vs. Killer argument.
6 -
Log into the current version and you'll see it says "for the first time". I just want to know what's the nature of the bug.
2 -
The funny thing about comments like this is if the devs did this to survivors people saying these comments would be up in arms.
0 -
So i log in and check it for myself. It does indeed say, only for the first time.
20 -
Wait, isn't that just because EW doesn't fully deplete when tier 3 ends?
0 -
- it was meant it that way look at the in game evidence that flatout says so.
- I'd think people would be more ok if you guys simply changed it from a "Bug Fix" To the balance section as a nerf.
4 -
Does the bug fix affect these add-ons, or does their having "for the first time" add a state effect make them an exception. My understanding was the bug was affecting add-ons that were supposed to affect getting to tier 3 in general, so it affected the first time when it was supposed to affect them all.
0 -
I thought that was the intended behavior because that's what the description said. I'm not going to jump to conclusions, though. That's why I'm asking for more information.
0 -
No ######### way. Rip Hair Bow. Those literally made him much more viable. But if it's really a bug, how come it went unnoticed for ######### 4 YEARS?!?!!??!
3 -
Was the description „for the first time“ there from the beginning? I just ask because I looked up in 2 wikis (2 different languages) and it does not stand there in the description?
just reaching, only speculating: but maybe it was added when the bug was noticed, but was not intended to stay like this?
that or the wikis were not showing the real descriptions, which would not shock me either.
1 -
I'm confused.
Does this fix make it so that these add-ons only work for the first EW3 or does it now work for every EW3?
1 -
That's what I want to know.
1 -
IIRC the "For the first time" description wasn't always there.
This behavior has been in the game since at least 2019
If the timestamp doesn't work, it's mentioned at 11:20.
I think it might have actually been a bug, but it's been in the game for so long it literally became a feature (Just like the bug where the creepy you're being stalked music stopped working, and the devs left it that way as a buff.) and added to the addon's text, only for this update to "Fix" the bug.
Honestly with how long it's been in the game, (+ the addon text being changed) I think it should stay as a feature. Removing it means running the addons will significantly decrease the amount of Tier 3's you can obtain throughout a match since there's only so much stalker-juice to drain from survivors and by increasing the amount needed for each EW3, you might have something like 2 or 3 less uses of EW3 in the match which is pretty unneeded.
I dislike using the increased duration addons already but this change will make them even more unappealing. Lock of Hair (Not infinite EW3, but the purple addon) doubles the stalk requirements to hit EW3 and this change means you'll probably get half or a quarter of "uses" of EW3.
9 -
Just because it's a bug doesn't mean it's better fix it. Sometimes bugs make a game better / more balanced. This here was agreed example: myers is probably one of the best designed killers and his addons were balanced. Now he received a nerf for now reason which makes him a less better pick on high ranks against sweaty survivors.
9 -
it was totally fine like this, what a pointless "bug fix", fix the silent dying survivor bug, how about that?
6 -
Keep watching use rate of these addons for a while. Nobody will use them from now on. You did toss them into the garbage.
6 -
No compensation for the clear nerf though? A large nerf too. It's not like the addon description doesn't specify that it's only the first. Bug fix my ass.

The game WAS behaving as described in the description theres just no arguing that and its a little insulting to pretend we dont know that.
With that being said I've found I do much better increasing the rate I stalk and my movement speed while stalking than increasing the duration anyway.
It just seems like a weird move to nerf a killer that isnt great to begin with while claiming its a bug fix.
7 -
Has anyone actually tested these add ons on the PTB yet?
2 -
Wow killer mains jumping to conspiracy theories with the devs again. Not suprised
2 -
I main david...
Also(I didn't know this until people pointed it out) look near the bottom of the first page there is literally an in game picture of the add-ons being nerfed that say for the first time.
Its not a conspiracy if its true.
2 -
I wouldn't call it a conspiracy theory. The addons literally describe it doing that, and they claim it's a bug though. But why would the description say that? Maybe you could argue the description is also bugged but i'd believe it more if like it was a number. The descriptions probably reference the same code for things like "10 meters" as the actual ability checks do in the game. But this one is written in english and seems to be part of the intended functionality of the addons.

Wow, this got out of hand. Let’s explain in concise detail.
If you’re using an add-on like extended T3 time, the downside of this add-on was that it took longer to reach T3 while stalking. However, the bug was that it DID take longer to stalk, but ONLY the first time you reach T3. When your T3 ran out and you were regressed back to T2, the add-on no longer required the longer stalk time to reach T3 because if the bug. Now it will, because it’s fixed. Hope this clarifies things.

Look at page 1's picture of the add-ons in question.
The add-on flat out says it only effect the first tier 3.
Idk when they changed the text of those add-ons to say that but it does in fact say it only effects the first tier 3.
3 -
Look at my picture again, its literally in the description of the addons that it only extends it the first time.
