This game's poor performance on consoles is truly baffling. Look at the textures. The trees are actually incredibly pixilated. Next time you're in the Doctor map check out the white stone near the exit gates.

While the more powerful consol Series X freezes it seems? But very nice to hear this it's probably going to be as good or better on Series X when they patch it.

I think this probably has less to do with BHVR and more to do with how powerful the PS5 is, but I'm happy it runs well :)

I never had problems on Xbox one (not that I noticed anyway) but just got Series X along with my new 65 inch OLED ThinQ and OMFG.... everything is beautiful.

No the trophys issue really sucks. I have every trophy in the game. I really don't want to go through getting them all back again!

Freddy not being in the PS5 version other then a license issue. makes no sense at all. As someone who has all the DLC on PS4 and PC. It should not be an issue with something I already own. I'm not demanding it change and it may never. However my argument is this. If the license expired the following should not happen.
- I should never have to face Freddy on PS5 period
- Badham preschool should never be a map on PS5
- I should never play with a Quinten on PS5.
The idea that the license expired so I can't play as Freddy or Quinten on PS5 but playing on his themed map and against him is still allowed thanks to cross platform play? He's technically still in the game. so as person who already owns him I should have access to him. I can understand new players not being able to use him but since it's the same account I should be able too.
the same goes for anyone on switch

Yeah pretty dumb. But they did confirm that they are bringing him back. So they did fix the issues itās probably just waiting for legal reasons to get him back in all new consoles.
I figured the PS4 and PS5 transition would bypass this but apparently not.

as long as they're getting him back, I don't play as Freddy too often but I don't like the idea of loosing content that I already own on a technicality.

They never said current gen. They simply said they were working on console optimisation. It was always ambiguous.

Theyāll still need to support until the end of 2021. Microsoft & Sony expect that a large portion of their market will transition slowly to next gen.

The old maps just look much more crisp. The new/reworked maps look excellent. The lighting looks improved too.

Thatās the thing though.
No one owns it.
Anyone that bought the DLC purchased a limited license.
And those limitations could be just about anything, as set by the legal rights owner of the intellectual property.

The thing is though, for a time, they did. There WAS significantly improved performance on PS4. And although it has dipped up n down since then, the game still runs much better than it ever has on PS4, except for that HUGE debacle with the mid chapter patch.
So they havenāt lied.

Yeah, my potato PC with a Ryzen 5 6-core-12-thread processor clocking at 3.6ghz pre-overclock, Radeon 5500 xt 8gb card, and 16 gigs of ram that plays every single game I have ever tried to play at a bare minimum of 60 FPS at maximum settings except ######### DbD. My bad. Should have rembered I'm using a clock battery.
I've got no doubt your machine is better, and I'm not here to measure dicks. Just pointing out that I've got the processing power to run DbD at 60fps on minimum settings and it just doesn't stop the stutter for reasons I cannot fathom.

I should've preordered a ps5. I tried to snag one on both the best buy and walmart sites. But each time I had my order in the cart, it would glitch out due to server overloads and both stores would kick my order. I'm just gonna have to wait awhile for a ps5. Sigh...

You misunderstand me. I'm not here to argue that the PC version is some optimized testament to BHVR's powerhouse programming skills. For how the game looks and its relatively tiny environments and limited characters/interactions, my 3080 should be getting ######### 500 FPS at 4k on Ultra, and your 5500 XT should be the one easily hitting 100+ FPS.
However, in terms of "being better than the PC version," as was the original claim, that's simply not the case. In this instance, the PS5 just did what PC users do: brute-forced quasi-acceptable performance out of a game that massively underperforms.

Amazing to hear that it runs well on PS5 but I can't help but feel annoyed about it.
Do I seriously need to buy a 500 dollar system just to enjoy my favorite game on a decent frame rate? :/

āWhen we first released Dead by Daylight back in 2016, we targeted 30āÆFPS on our minimum spec. Up until recently, we optimized the game in bursts; for the console launch and before releasing a new Killer. We are now ready to set a new performance target: Dead by daylight will run at 60āÆFPS on PlayStationāÆ4, Xbox One, and minimum spec PCs.ā

I probably personally couldnāt have justified it if there were absolutely no launch titles I was interested in.
But fortunately I already feel Iāve gotten my monies worth, and itās only been less than 48 hours. Astroās Playroom and the way it demonstrates all of the new controller features is a joyful experience. Bugsnax is charming and engrossing. Both Spider-Man games are a feast for the eyes. PS5 DBD, and just how excellent it performs is just icing on the cake.
The absolute standout though is the Demonās Souls remake. Itās absolutely astonishing and extraordinary. The extreme level of detail, fidelity, and lighting effects (when on cinematic mode) is breathtaking. Itās absolutely beautiful to look at.

Unfortunately I didn't get my PS5 delivered today, so I've got a couple of questions!
- did you transfer DbD PS4 on an external HDD to a PS5 or did you download it on the PS5 store + dlc?
- Did your rift progress transfer over?
- did your builds for survivor and killer also transfer or did you have to make your builds again?
- did your rank and devotion transfer safely?

Ok, I stand corrected, and apologise. Perhaps, try as they might, they simply didnāt have the time, resources, and capacity to both prepare for next gen, and implement such optimisation for current gen, or itās simply not possible.
Who knows, now that PS5 and Series X/S versions are finally released, they might revisit optimisation for PS4 and XBONE, because there is bound to still be a significant portion of the DBD player base using those consoles for the next 12 to 24 months.

- i simply signed into my PSN, looked at my game library, clicked on the DBD icon, and when it expanded, off to the right was a box asking if I wanted my free upgrade to PS5 edition. Oddly for some strange reason it first downloaded the PS4 version, then downloaded the PS5 version, and overwritten it.
- All of my progress transferred over. Rift, shards, bp, auric cells, cosmetics, perks (and their respective tiers on their respective characters), add ons, offerings, Everything except Freddy and Quentin, but I can still use/get Badham offerings, and have all their perks. Trophies do not carry over because PS5 seems the PS5 version of DBD as an entirely separate game. It was funny first loading the game and immediately being awarded the P1, P2, P3, and P3 50 trophies.
- Loadouts and cosmetics were all a clean slate. So I had to re-equip all of my preferred loadouts and cosmetics.
- Rank and devotion all carried over.
- Good luck. Hope your console arrives for you soon.

The frustrating thing is the devs donāt talk about or acknowledge this at all anymore.
Ive had my questions deleted from the Q and A threads about it, they ignore comments about it; and havenāt talked about or addressed it at all.
I would be disappointed but at least have closure if they said they encountered problems and the goal was too ambitious to achieve or something, or even that they are still working on it or not, but they wonāt mention it at all. It really feels like being swept under the rug and forgotten about and with the new consoles and PC issues taking most of the attention it feels hard to not have enough clout as a small section of the playerbase concerned by this to even get anything from the devs about it. If this was something that affected the larger market then this silence wouldnāt be accepted and enough of a fuss would be kicked up that a response would be given in some way to placate everyone as opposed to being ignored and deleted. :ā(

I just got mine and when I inserted the disc for DBD, it gave me a ācopyā button instead of download. Does this mean Iāll be able to switch between the PS4 and PS5 versions of DBD?
Also there is a free PS5 upgrade option for me even though I have the disc and I am really excited, especially if I can switch between PS4 and PS5 versions at will.

Has it finished installing?
If so, either scroll down from the DBD icon fro the main PS5 hub page, or if itās not there, find DBD in your game library and push cross.
There should be a box over on the right. Itāll either offer a free PS5 upgrade or it will advertise some DLC or add on. If the free PS5 upgrade option isnt there, perhaps it isnāt offered for the disc version for some strange reason?

Trophies donāt carry from a PS4 version to a PS5 version. Theyāre seen as two separate games. This was no different to when there were PS3 & PS4 versions of an identical game.

Itās there and I already upgraded, but I was wondering if you could switch between PS4 and PS5 (which you can, I checked it out for myself).
Both versions have installed and holy crap the PS5 version looks amazing. Shame about the trophies being reset though.

Itās just heavenly isnāt it.
The performance makes a MASSIVE difference when playing killer. Survivor 360ās are a cake walk to hit now. No more sudden disorientation from frame dips during a chase.

So you thank BHVR that they have/had one of the worst optimized games in gaming history for over 4 years and they just waited out to let it getting fixed by the hardware of next gen consoles?? This is just laughable. In conclusion this means they did actually no improvements regarding the code and engine. I still can remind when they did that big optimization announcement years ago, it was just empty promises.
