Without bloodlust, the chases became tiresome
In the pursuit, interest and excitement disappeared. With bloodlust, you get excited: you didn't catch up with the survivor in 15 seconds, here's + to the speed and you already think: here's all the survivor, I'll catch up with you) And then again and again)) True, I mainly see levels 1 and 2 bloodlust.
And without bloodlust, the chases are just cold calculation (
Also, if you didn't catch up with the survivor in 15 seconds - let go, see the loop - let go, there are a couple of windows ahead - let go ...

yeah it is exhausting and even more frustrating for the already-frustrating killer experience

I main Nurse so I have no idea what this "bloodlust" you guys are talking about is. Was not having it really that bad because I personally felt nothing different.
5 -
For me on Saturday it wasn't too bad. On Sunday the survivors seemed to realize that they could waste tons of killer time if they started bailing on gens super early and holding W across the map. They used to get punished for doing too much of that by Bloodlust. Not so much this weekend.
It got so bad and so old that I started loading up with a build they couldn't hear coming. 12m TR Slinger... Let's go.

watch w/o sound, since it doesn't really matter here.
It's old dbd prebloodlust gameplay, aka why 4.4 killers w/o bloodlust sucked ass.
EDIT: For those who are too lazy to watch - Hag being countered by holding W.
1 -
good job finding your way around it!
0 -
Eh, maybe they should leave tier I. I have seen a lot of Huntress players struggling a lot in loops.
3 -
You know, the point of 4.4 killers is that they are supposed to use their power to help them in chases.
The hag in the video didn't use her traps at all, not to mention the "pre-bloodlust" maps were horrendous and were filled with pallet loops everywhere. It doesn't show anything.
4 -
traps wouldn't help her in that game =)
nonetheless it pretty well shows how bloodlust is important
1 -
Isn't that before her massive buffs? And in 2017 there were probably triple the pallets, vacuum pallets, legitimate infinities, exhaustion recovering while running, etc.
Hag doesn't need bloodlust by any means at all. 1 trap is all it takes to shut down almost all loops in the game. That's every loop nullified in like ~2.2 seconds or so.
You can follow people around setting traps at every pallet and she is actually pretty good in a chase. But there is no reason to do that since she is best played defensively. Chasing with hag is a rookie mistake.
3 -
Of course. Bringing a video from 2017 is completely useless, nothing will be proven with stuff which is changed already. And you are completely right that chasing with Hag is a rookie mistake.
1 -
If you're not forcing a pallet or getting a hit for 15 seconds at a loop, then either your doing something wrong ie not mindgaming or letting a surviovr run a loop a certain way or the survivor is outplaying you very well.

Here you got a more recent gameplay from me playing wraith.
I've been told he depands on bloodlust appearantly.
This is on ps4 and against swf.
You can't compare old gameplay with new gameplay as there has been changed a lot.
I've played several killer games this weekend and mainly resulted in 4k with only a few exceptions.
Most problem, especially during weekends, is that there are a lot of swf which is understandable.
The problem with that is they love to rush the gens as fast as they can, and make builds around that.
Like prove thy self, resilience, etc with toolboxes.
That is what hurts a killer more than removing bloodlust.
Personally I think they should have done this for 1 full week as you get a better and more accurate reading.

He didn't even need pallets to make 110% killer chase for infinity.
0 -
I just skimmed through it. I saw him dropping pallets, and he used balancing landing on cooldown. That chase would not be possible today, it's a moot video.
6 -
Hey its not needed but the tedium of some games has increased. I called it this weekend and played other games instead.
Survivor queues were too long and killer was tedious, what more can I say.
0 -
Well tbh, survivor queues are always long, at least on ps4.
And as killer I didn't see any difference.
But then again that is as how I experienced it

If they're bailing on gens "super early" then that would be effective regardless of whether or not Bloodlust is in play. You need to be within 12m and have line of sight on the survivor in order for a chase to start, and you can't start accumulating Bloodlust until you're in a chase. In a hypothetical situation where the survivor just holds W away from you on a Fast & Furious 6 infinite runway, you would only have Bloodlust for like two seconds before catching them. Bloodlust is much more relevant at loops, as killers are now forced to break pallets they could previously just Bloodlust around.
Also can't Slinger's TR not get below 16m? It does feel like 12m though with Monitor though since the custom TR audio starts so quietly lol

Without Bloodlust it was no fun at all. It is frustrating enough already.

I must admit I didn't realize that chases have a max range of 12m to start. I still stand by what I said because while they have a 12m range to start, they don't just abruptly end if the Survivor gets 12m away. Seriously... on Sunday I had about 1 proper loop at a tile in 4 Legion games. Everyone else would just drop pallet and hold W away and not force me to break it because they didn't have to.
As for Slinger having less than 16m TR... Marshal Badge and Gold Creek Whiskey exist. You have to hold ADS to do it, but you can force his TR to less than 16m. Ran 2 games with M&A + Marshall Badge + Jaw Smasher and I was able to get really close to the Survivors before they knew I was there. My numbers might be wrong because the wiki doesn't have the numbers for those add ons... but yeah. Less than 16m is entirely possible.

i almost never see bloodlust when i play killer and i had so much fun with it off.. i almost only play killer and it felt so good to not get handheld.. bloodlust makes killers worse, "you did poorly? here is a reward for your mistake" ..you shouldnt get rewarded for mistakes.. a lot also realized how much they suck because of bloodlust and now wanna improve and most want it off.. killer is already super easy at rank 1.. lets not make it easier, im getting bored

Yeah, you're definitely right that dropping pallets early becomes way more viable now. There are plenty of loops that are safe with the pallet up, but that the killer can bloodlust around for a hit once the pallet is dropped. Without bloodlust they're just forced to break the pallet. So yes, killers like Legion are now basically just forced to break the pallet. Other killers who have some anti-loop or mobility (that doesn't require a 4 second stun at the end of it lol) in their kit might still be able to play the tile without breaking the pallet, but this definitely does take away some flexibility for M1 killers. I say "flexibility" because bloodlusting every pallet isn't usually a great idea, but it's still a useful tool in the right situations.
Ah and that's a good point! I completely forgot those add-ons existed. I'm so used to being quick-scoped that I forgot that I forgot actually staying in ADS is a thing he does lol
1 -
you mean you didn't have fun breaking 50 pallets every match? weird
survivors say that's the ultimate display of skill and you're bad if you can't win after breaking every pallet
0 -
Yeah true on the survivor queues, but they were breaking 10-15mins this weekend and I don't think I ever waited that long. This game aint worth that wait.
The loss of bloodlust hasn't really affected my game results that much usually I don't need it, but I did find myself more often abandoning chases early if there was a strong loop nearby.
Its more the blandness of the chases holding W and hugging edges is now more effective than mind gaming, worse if pallets are pre-dropped. All of the double back/ sneak around/ second guess that makes chases fun was largely missing and replaced by hold W and run.
1 -
They weren't even forcing the break. They were just dropping and dipping. Just me walking to the other side of the pallet was enough distance for them to get to the next thing. It maybe wouldn't have been if Bloodlust had been turned on.
Can't blame you for forgetting those add-ons exist. Most slingers just run the reload add-ons and there's no point in staying in ADS longer than you need to unless you have the Badge or Whiskey.

The wiki definitely has the numbers, I just checked.

I tend to love the thrill of the chase, and it felt honestly good having it back.
0 -
I don't see them?
I'm looking here: Marshal's Badge - Official Dead by Daylight Wiki (gamepedia.com)
I think it used to have numbers but doesn't anymore. Like... Legion's addons still have their numbers but Slingers seem to be missing.

If you hover over the tooltips sometimes they have the exact values.

"Add-ons support Mouse-over functionality (desktop version only): hovering over the modifier words with your cursor will reveal the values behind them."
Just put your mouse over the words and it'll show you the respective numbers.

Must admit that chases are my favourite thing in DbD (on both sides) so I definitely had a good experience with Bloodlust being switched off. I did find some tiles were harder to play than before, because I was playing them wrong. It was interesting because I recorded them and had someone check my gameplay who could tell me the tiles I was playing wrong - basically L/T walls, and what I could have done better.

Oh, oh. Thank you. I don't know how I missed that. That will be very helpful to know.
