Winning in this game is weird, so I want to hear what people count as 'winning' in this game.

There is no clear definition objectively and it is only set up by subjective standards.

Everything from 4k to 0k but with 32k bp can be a win for the killer.

While everything from 4 escapes down to death but atleast 1-3 others made it, is in the range for survivor "wins" (no mention of bp since survivor get less).

Edit: others might have made the amount of hooks done as the killer or the number of generators popped while being chase by the killer as a satisfactory goal for themselves.

Playing better than my opponent/s. The game is supposed to use pips, but that's the most broken system ever. Some people use kills, but that's not a good measurement: you didn't exactly lose agaisnt a full meta team on Haddonfield, and you didn't exact win against a bunch of yellow ranks on Dead Dawg. Some people use personal escapes, but it's a team-based game so that doesn't even make sense. And lastly, some people sue Bloodpoints. I have yet to see the algorithm for comparing survivor bloodpoints to killer bloodpoints in a fair and accurate fashion.

So, I just figure if I run the killer so well they facecamp and tunnel me then I won.

    0-1 kills = Survivors win

    3-4 kills = Killer wins

    2 kills = Draw

Well, each kill is a win over that one Survivor. And Survivors escaping is a win over a Killer.

But most of the time, I consider just playing the game a win. Its a fun game.

Killer: If I get more bp than the survivors.

Survivor: If I or my teammates escape.

I'm a bad person to answer this question because I rate a WIN by how much fun I had in the match. The winning or losing of it doesn't really matter that much as far as "individual" matches go. I look at Dead by Daylight in several different ways. There is the individual match and there are long term goals. Individual matches are about challenge and fun. And sometimes individual matches are about a short term goal involving a Daily or Rift. So in those cases, if the Daily/Rift was the goal, I win if I manage it.

I've had matches where I scored 30K+ and killed all four Survivors and didn't enjoy them at all. Most often, this happens when matchmaking sticks me against inappropriate opponents. On rare occasion, it happens because one Survivor is sandbagging (a pet peeve of mine and they get to bleed out if I realize it). It can also happen when some quitter decides to leave early or even midgame leaving the others holding the bag. These are not going to be fun games for me, and regardless of how good the outcome is for me on paper, it is NOT a win. I don't want gimme games, I want to earn my victories. Gimme games don't count for anything. They are a waste of my time.

I've had matches where I didn't kill a single Survivor; they were that good, the map was hostile, and I still managed to not lose a Pip. I had one of these yesterday where I was up against a Red Rank SWF of seriously good players and got sent to McMillan Estate while using a Spooky Myer's Build. Let's just say things were not weighted in my favor. They all got out but I made them WORK for it, and I still scored just shy of 30K and pulled a Brutal Killer result. I lost the match in that they all got away but it was as serious personal win.

I don't know if I'm making any sense. To me, personally, the game is about the challenge. That is where the fun comes from. The is no shame in losing to a better opponent or drawing the short straw. You still fight your hardest and learn what you can. I feel bad when I don't give my opponents a challenge. I apologize for it if they can hear me in the end chat. Sometimes the Daily/Rift I'm working runs contrary to giving my opponents my best game, which does shortchange them. They aren't getting my A-Game because I have a conflict of interests.

We all want to come out on top, but we all win just by playing the game.

They aren't getting less bps. It depends from a killer, noob killer - you wont get that much bps and if you're playing like a pussy as a survivor, you wont get much.

Not getting drawn into playing like a boosted animal to have fun but still having fun is a win condition, but also, if I can heal and save teammates and get out alive with others, this is a personal win as well.

For me what winning is, is having fun playing, as a survivor, running from the killer, hiding, saving colleagues, being a victim who will not fall in a horror movie like this, how killer is gaining experience, getting into his role as a crazy psychopath , get a laugh and have a good time.

Getting a 3k, hatch doesn't matter and if I happened to steamroll a team I always let the Dwight or the most fun survivor leave.

4 kills baby. Hatch is a loss.

As a Survivor, I want to complete one Gen, unhook one person safely, and cleanse one totem at least. Then I know I contributed to the match and I don't feel as bad when everything goes .... Up in the air.

I feel terrible when I do like 4 gens, unhook my whole team and escape and then I LOSE A PIP. :I I don't understand the pip system at all, it's hard to please.

Having fun and not walking away from the game upset is what I consider winning now. I detached from the rank system and just go off of one Gen, one safe unhook, and one totem (at least) system.

I use Identity V's win conditions

atleast 3 people survive as survivor will equal a win

3 kills as killer equals a win

a 2k on both sides equals a tie

  • Pepsidot

    3-4k as killer.

    Escape as survivor.

I take absolutely no consideration at whether I've pipped or not, I don't care.

If I hard camped and got a 3-4k I'd still consider that a win; if I immersed all game and escaped via the hatch I'd consider that a win (not that I do these things!).

Using pips is horrible. In the higher ranks where everyone does 1 full gen, each get a hook rescue and heal, run the killer, and escape... you'll still take a -1.

Happens quite frequently, especially if your on a balanced team. Walked out of a game last night with 17k bloodpoints (escaped) and took a -1. Everyone did their part and played smart.

Killer: 4 kills or 3 kills with hatch

Survivor: at least 2 of us escape, or I escape

I believe the game director specifically said he likes the idea of the game being balanced around 2 kills and 2 escapes, I think that's good. I find it odd how most people think that counts as a draw, especially considering how testicle terrorizing playing killer can be sometimes.

Winning for me is just having a match last longer than a few minutes. The trial doesn't last until that ten minute mark? BG

A win for me is to be able to outplay someone in a certain chase, or when they're trying to hide.

But I don't care for wins, I care for having fun.

Yesteryday I was challenged by a friend to play as nurse, so I used the most "baby nurse" outfit I had. Was against a group of flashlights and so I brought lightborn. They were taunting me and I was trying to hit my blinks (using the add on that helps see that). They tried to blind me, but they couldn't. And I pretended I was trying to avoid it.

It was super fun though all of them escaped hahaha

As killer, 3-4 kills are a win, 2 are a tie, 0-1 are a loss.

As survivor, surviving is a win.

Pips are a consolation prize when I lose.

    Getting 4 stacks of BBQ.

    In a seriousness, I count a:

    "Win" as 3-4K

    "Draw" as 2K

    "Loss" as a 0-1K

If a key is used, those survivors essentially forfeit, and count as kills

A survivor getting hatch or post-hatch gate when all other survivors are dead still counts as a kill

Alternatively, if I face against really good survivors and I at least get a 2K (1K if they are god-like/SWF), then that is better than any 4K in the world.

As survivor, well, it doesn't really matter

As a survivor - escaping or killer throwing the game to facecamp me. As killer - I don't really care anymore
