They have done it. Clown power officially helps survivors
I live to see the day.
A Killer power that actually increases the speed of survivors.
Enjoy.

I thought it would have a damage type thing where it could give deep wounds... but this?
What were they thinking?
30 -
Shocking..they also killed undying without hesitation

It doesn't just increase the speed of the suvivors, it increases the speed of any player affected by that gas - so for one it's a great way of crossing the map as the Clown, it can also be used skillfully in chases, it can be used to try to bait a survivor to go where you want them to go for example.
31 -
I dont think that tho because if you are really close to a survivor with the bottle of speed it takes a second to activate so you get the speed and they won't unless you dont get to them with a hit ontop of that clown will be more mobile ontop of faster reloading and you can still play him like normal
2 -
The bottle increases The Clowns speed as well. So yeah, it'll increase the survivors speed if the player screws up their throw or places it badly. Isn't this what people want? A killer who takes more skill but also has a potential drawback if they screw it up?
19 -
Naw just you wait until TheClownIsKing starts schmooving on these fools. It's all fun and games until his runs at you like a freight train with PGTW on the ready
24 -
Do you have 4 bottles of the tonic AND the antidote or do they share the same resource?
5 -
That was my first thought. The speed increasing bottles can be used for mobility. It will allow Clown to get to a gen in time after hooking a survivor and possibly make the difference between the survivors popping the gen in your face or you popping the gen with Pop Goes The Weasel.
That can be huge.
3 -
@OniWantsYourMacaroni they're a shared resource so on reload you can throw any combination of the 4 of either type
6 -
I think it’s actually going to be a great change. First of all, you don’t have to use the new bottles, so you can play Clown as he is now, if that’s what you want. Second of all, the bottles take a few seconds to activate. So they’ll most likely be used for Clown players to traverse the map quicker or to lure survivors into areas you want them to think are safe, such as dead zones.
I’m personally excited for this. 🥰
8 -
Yes, they share the same resource. You can swap and reloading gives you 4 back.
I understand Clown can use this for himself. I am curious to know what circumstance you would ever want to increase survivors movement speed.
2 -
They share the same resource. Reloading gives you four bottles by default of any combination you'd like.
One way you might want to use them, for example, is by throwing an antidote as your approaching the loop, then switching the tonics. That way you get a speed boost from the gas that's too far away for the survivor to run back and get, and then have your usual bottles to slow them down some more.
6 -
Helps Clown WAAAYYY more because he has control over where the gas will go and when to use it.
It’s an extremely powerful effect with a drawback if used incorrectly. I like it.
5 -
You can use the yellow tonic to trick survivors. For example, if I knew part of the map didn’t have any pallets left, I could throw yellow tonic in that direction mid-chase. The survivor could take the bait thinking they’re just getting further away from me, but in fact they’re heading to an area where I can down them easier.
I think it’s going to lead to some fun plays.
6 -
Lol at these devs. To think that clown was sooooo op he needed to actively help survivors run faster. The pure incompetence and lack of any clue how this game is played.
8 -
Agreed, I think it's going to add some interesting gameplay to him.
And he gets a buff of speed as well don't forget if he uses the yellow cloud on himself.
2 -
"It’s an extremely powerful effect with a drawback if used incorrectly."
This is a really important sentence - 10% movement Speed increase for the Clown is HUGE, but you cant throw your bottles like a madman to avoid giving the Survivors an advantage. So big effect with a potential drawback.
When it comes to "lurking Survivors into deadzones"; I am not really sure if that will really work. BUT I guess those skillful chase interactions are better done by people who are far more experienced than me when playing Clown.
2 -
I think the best change for clown isnt the new bottles but the reload speed being reduced.
10 -
I actually love this idea for a clown change, will allow for more skill and strategic placement with bottles for a better reward and make playing against him really interesting actually.

Jesus. The sky is not falling. Solid update. Gotta hand it to the devs on this one
2 -
Good points.
I want to clarify I am glad Clown has more mechanics and choices. My qualm is that this is a dangerous precedence for Killer Powers IMO.
This doesn't read the same as missing a chainsaw or blink and being punished for it. This power directly helps survivors who meet the right circumstances. I do not think a Killer power should ever have an inherit benefit to survivors mixed in to the terminology.
5 -
Interesting,i already imagined that the new bottle type will be some sort of movement increase.
I'm sure it will open up some really fun gameplay possibilities :)
Is it possible to say how long it takes to switch between the bottle types?
0 -
I believe it is instant. Reloading is now 3 secs instead of 5.
0 -
Can we see how it works out before being little bs about it Jesus christ.
5 -
is the speed increase from the antidote better than the tonic's slowdown on survivors?
in other words is the 10% increase greater than the tonic's negative speed decrease for survivors or will you have to run addons for that?
0 -
Its not a terrible change, but I was really hoping to see some type of gen defense potion. An option to maybe throw a bottle at a gen to start it regressing. That would have helped the clown with map pressure in a very unique way.
This will work as well I guess. But I do agree with the above poster that I think the best part of this update is the quicker reload speed. That combined with anything else should tip the odds in the Clown's favor.
2 -
I am waiting for @TheClownIsKing to weigh in. I trust their judgment lol
1 -
So don’t use the speed bottles? He’ll be the same Clown as now except with a faster reload. You can even just use the speed bottles at the start of the match to get to an early Discordance proc faster and never use them again, if you want.
Not sure why people complain about a change that they’re not forced to use. This is an ideal rework - Clown works exactly the same way if you want, or you can try using the new aspect of his power. Far from an incompetent change.
4 -
Exactly. If you never touched the new bottles the new clown would still be a better clown with a better reload speed.
3 -
I bet you guys are going to remove the Solvent Jug, aren't you? I feel like a nasty trade is going to be made here....
9 -
At least wait to try it before kneejerking this hard. It sounds useful but I'd need to know how long the effects last and if slowdown gas has changed any.
0 -
personally i'm more disappointed that that's all we're getting, so many concepts and ideas and all we're getting is "you go faster"
5 -
I'm pretty sure that only power in the game that benefit survivors is plague's healing pools but plague gets something pretty good out of it. I am not exactly sure what clown is getting out of helping survivor. It seems like unnecessary potential negative for no real benefit. Its looking hollow but maybe add-on change are very big improvement.
Another comment regarding Second wind, Its not good enough of change for anyone to use it more than they do now. the requirement to heal another survivor hurts the perk too much, too inconsistent of a heal per match. If you removed requirement to heal 1 health state and it just healed after you get unhooked. it would get used more. As for Undying change.... well Hex perks are suppose to be high reward, but whats the point of using a hex perk in Undying if the reward is not there. Seems like more negative changes for killer perks than improvements...
2 -
Every time a change is made to killer someone always says this, then we try it and find out we were right all along. We don't need to wait. We can take educated guesses on what's happened in the past. We've seen the addon changes they've done to killers. They suck. Have you noticed that most of the new addons for the new killers are pretty terrible? Mostly every killer rework that gets an addon pass is worse than it was before? I think Clown's addons are going to get gutted. I hope I'm wrong, but I doubt it. I think Solvent Jug is getting nerfed as well as Pinky's, possibly even bleach.
7 -
I think the antidote shouldnt remove the gas debuffs. They dont even last that long and the survs are getting faster by touching the antidote anyways. Or were there any words of the purple stuff getting stronger effects?
0 -
I don’t understand. As clown, don’t throw speed bottles at a survivor running to the shack, running to a strong building, etc. in fact, don’t throw them at survivors.
perhaps, throw them to only give yourself a boost.
ptb comes out, test it out.
3 -
It sounds like a reasonable change.
Will it be clearly marked which bottle you have loaded? Because I’m pretty much expecting to throw the wrong ones.
0 -
I was expect that there will be a bottle type switch...but not like this.
0 -
Personally, I will wait until I can test it out myself.
But, from what it looks like, the gas is not yellow immediatly. Meaning that you can throw it at the Survivor without giving them a benefit and afterwards, when you walk through it, you will get the Movement Speed-Buff.
2 -
that's correct!
4 -
Antidote increases clown's movement speed to 5.06 m/s and survivor's speed to 4.4 m/s. Clown does get an overall speed buff of 0.06 m/s if both get invigorated (insignificant, yes) but it doesn't buff the survivors as much as people make it out to be. It's just regular looping speed if you mess up your bottles.
It seems really useful to go across the map. 7s haste duration after you leave the cloud would be my guess and can be chained while traversing the map so the title just isn't true. Also you can reload while in a loop with a survivor. It's just 3s. We'll see how it plays out.

Reverse pog

I think once you get over the hilarity of a power that helps Survivors, it is a pretty reasonable buff to him. Just don't be dumb with how you throw your sonic tonics.
4 -
.....what? And what about direct hits? And how is this going to work then with hindering players movement speed?
0 -
It's kind of silly to say this helps survivors. You have controll of where the gas goes.
If you ever throw it where survivors get benifit from it you just misplayed hard
4 -
If you're bad at the game sure it'll make you unable to catch them because you make poor bottle throwing decisions. Just don't throw it to where they can use it without you punishing them for it
1 -
I personally think the change is very innovative for DBD. They've never had a killer power like this before and it sounds really cool and pretty fun.
It requires a little thought before using it, but I could definitely see really good Clowns using it as a bait tactic or throwing it in a more open area or dead zone while they're on their way to the survivor. This might encourage the survivor to run out into the dead zone for a speed boost, thinking it would help, but not they have no form of protection.
1 -
would i be correct in thinking that the speed boost will increase the clowns lunge range?
0 -
I don't know why it needs to help survivors. Slowing down the survivor by 15% is better than speeding yourself up by 10%, so I don't know why you'd ever use the yellow gas in a loop.
Not that I particularly care because this is still obviously going to be a buff, I just don't understand the logic.
