I Need Help Understanding MRR

I scrolled through the article about the Matchmaking Rating and how Rank will no longer be used in matchmaking, but I'm still a little confused on how it's going to be implemented in a practical and mechanical sense. I've only been playing for about a year now and I did see it's a system that has been implemented before, and even though it's a ways off(More so for me playing on PS4 I'm certain) I'd still like some advice/input of longer term players and or devs as to how it's going to work. Thanks in advance.

I just wanna note that the players don't know exactly how it'll work. What we do know is that survivors have a MMR separate from killers. Every killer has their own separate MMR for each individual killer so if you main trapper and switch to hag, your hag MMR is lower than trapper. I think SWF takes the average MMR of the players.

What we can assume of MMR is that it takes metrics from your past games and comes up with a number signifying your skill level. How it does that or what metrics it looks at we don't exactly know.

A players individual skill score won't be known to them or to anyone else firstly. It's something that will be kept hidden and it will be used for matchmaking purposes only - Ranks won't be used at all for this once this skill score is implemented, but I believe they will still be visible.

I don't believe that the conditions for increasing/decreasing the score will also be made public (but I could be wrong on this, but I don't expect so), at least not at the initial stage.

Each Killer having their own MMR I think will be really good. Even though a lot of basic skills transfer, starting a brand new killer with one perk and no add-ons does kinda suck.

Whether or not the scores are public information I don't think will have that profound of an effect as long as players know the system is in place and have trust in it. It does raise the question of once the metrics of gathering the data are set, will there be a period of time that said data will be collected before scores are implemented so that players of relatively equal skill will be put into matches accordingly from the start? Or will there be a period of chaos where all players effectively have a MMR score of zero and people of wildly different skill are matched with each other until enough data is gathered?

The data is being collected as we speak, the system has been active in the background purely collecting data for quite some time. It might need a few matches to fully "settle in" from a matchmaking point of view (on this I am not completely sure)...but nobody will be starting from a score of 0, it should be fairly accurate very early on.

We will obviously communicate more information on the system prior to it going Live, and any questions you have, feel free to direct them to me and I will do my best to get answers at that time.

That's good to hear the data is already being collected and analyzed to make a smoother roll out. I understand full implementation is still a ways off, but it definitely looks good on paper so far.
