Why can survivors 99 the exit gate?
the game is already stacked in the survivors favor why give them the ability to 99 the gate?
at least let the gate regress like a generator

One of the countless reasons why I hate the EGC.
5 -
To encourage altruism in the endgame which allows both sides to get more points
21 -
EGC should be scary the killer should automatically be buffed without NOED.
It should be intense.
and yet EGC is a joke with survivors twerking at the exit gates with their flashlight strobe party
24 -
The primary purpose of EGC is to simply make sure the game ends, nothing more and nothing less.
36 -
When has it been said that the egc should be scary? It’s there to force the game to an end.
13 -
EGC is only a tool to force the game to an end at some point. This is why the Killer is able to open the Exit Gates. If you want EGC to start, open them yourself.
EGC is killer-sided, but not meant to be an extra tool of pressure for the Killer. This is why 99ing the Exit Gates is possible (Devs thought about making them regress, but were against it) and why the times is slower when a Survivor is slugged or hooked.
7 -
Many ways were tested to prevent the 99'ing of the gates, they all felt pretty horrible.
EGC was never intended to favour one side over the other, it's not there for the killer to be able to apply extra pressure - it's there to end the match, nothing more. That's why the killers can open the exit gate themselves as well.
42 -
Except every time I want to just open the gates, then I can't.
Seriously they should let you be able to do it any and all times after the last gen is done or if hatch is closed.
6 -
no because when you chase them they'll run to the gate and tap it open. you'll never get them and then they twerk at you.
the EGC timer should start when gens are done in my opinion
5 -
Doesn't work. Just changes how/when the survivors stop the game from ending. Now, they just don't finish last gen.
EGC a joke? Parts of it, to some degree. Exit Gate Switch regression? No, it screws the last remaning survivor who already has to stop the exit gate just before the red light to maximize opening time between patrols, or has to get 1 light on Exit A and sneak over to Exit B to open it while the killer thouroughly searches Exit A.
2 -
at least have it regress at 50% and not go lower than that.
I think that's a fair balance.
It doesn't go back to 0 but it stays lower enough to where it's fair for killers too.
2 -
so suggesting gates to regress means I'm some survivor main troll?
0 -
Not quite

It works for the ways people prolonged the game that were far more common prior to its implementation: simply standing in the exit gate forever, or opening gates and then running back into the map to mess with a clearly outmatched killer.
For the former there's now a time limit, for the latter the killer has the option to start the same time limit if they try to do it by 99ing gates instead. Survivors refusing to finish the last generator is far more rare than either of those situations ever were.
I'd totally support some sort of last-resort concession mechanic to take care of remaining edge cases though. Like after the trial has lasted X minutes the killer can hit a switch in the basement to either instantly open gates + start EGC or even instantly make all the still alive survivors escape the moment the switch is hit.
5 -
because that would not happen if the door would slowly regress?
0 -
Nah. But you fail to understand that EGC is not a handholding Killer Mechanic.
And, to be honest, you could have used the Search Function and would have been able to find 100 threads (at least) about the same topic.
9 -
I just dont buy this, sure who am I and what can I do, but I dont believe this for one second.
I maintain that a LOT more can be done to make the game more interactive, more tactical but the devs refuse to even try something like that.
1 -
Nah worse than her, possibly
0 -
to make blood warden easily counter-able and to make sure people don't realize how much of a band aid fix EGC was
1 -
No. you're misunderstanding some of the game's functions and purposes, but you're fine.
Ignore the people trying to make it into anything more.
1 -
Why should the Killer be buffed when they failed to prevent the generators from being done?
2 -
It's not meant to help you get more kills it's to end the match. If you don't want them 99 open them yourself. If the survivor dancer party bothers you don't go to the exit gates.
15 -
it allows survivors to completely avoid EGC and once the game gets to that point if you decide to open the gates yourself you would be throwing any chance you might've had, with the slight exception of blood warden.

99% is savy as it won't trigger noed. Opening it immediately is selfish towards other survivors who are being chased as noed would make them a 1 hit target. Open the gates when you are sure others are safe. I do like the idea of a gate regression but I think its fine how it is.
You also have many anti exit gate perks to use; No way out, Remember Me, Blood Warden, Rancor.

99'ing gates has nothing to do with NOED
NOED activates when the last gen completes nothing to do with Exit Gates
13 -
People who think that EGC is useless or should be changed clearly never experienced Hatch Standoffs or survivors holding the game hostage in the endgame.
It's perfectly fine the way it is
15 -
I thought noed triggered upon exit gates being opened / start of EGC. I always played it as if that was the case lol. Noed it pretty uncommon I find.
0 -
Just do bones....I mean open the doors if you want to start the EGC. See, EZ.
7 -
So... do you want survivors to open the gates or not?
Can't 99 them.
Can't open them.
Maybe you should have killed them all before it got to this stage if you can't win in either scenario?
7 -
ah yes why didn't I think of that.
killing all 4 SWF with comms and stacked meta perks before the gens are powered.
0 -
NOED is countered by doing bones
99 gates are countered by OPENING THE GATE?! Very counterintuitive in most cases
1 -
If the EGC timer triggered when gens are powered there wouldn't be hatch standoffs and the game won't be held hostage
0 -
Nah, Noed procs when the exit gates are powered- be that through hatch closing or the last gen being done
1 -
That would also be a significant buff to killer, as it would cut down their time to save each other.
Except.....there is no reason to just buff every single killer at once like that. It's just unnecessary. EGC does what it is supposed to right now just fine; there is no reason to just....give the killer more just "because".
5 -
This! Except I don’t let survivors teabag bother me, I just chase them out so I can move on to my next match.
2 -
I might be an exception, because I enjoyed hatch standoffs and that "endgame tension" and I really want it back.
EGC is not fine, in my opinion. It never was.
0 -
Why would you ever want hatch standoffs back??
Wasting up to several hours of your life because of this stupid crap doesn't sound enjoyable or "tense" at all
5 -
That's literally counter productive to what you just described.
That was the exact opposite. EGC gives exactly what you just described, the old way was literally the exact opposite.
Are you just trying to be "Different" and go against the grain for the lulz or something? lol.
6 -
again if the timer happened when gens were all done then there would be no hatch stand offs and the game wouldn't be held hostage.
EGC should feel intense not a joke.
survivors have time to even hook BT/DS juggle and then protection hit each other and there is literally nothing I can do about it. if the timer started as soon as gens were done it would at least add some pressure.
NOED and rancor activates when gens are done, why can't the timer?

I really liked it. There was that tension of: "Should I watch the hatch? Or hunt the last one?" And when you got that grab mid-air, most satisfying thing in the game.
But now... you close the hatch and patrol the gates. It is boring. It is bad. But that is just my opinion.
1 -
Why not just open the doors to start the EGC?
1 -
just to get this straight:
EGC is not ment to buff the killer.
its sole purpose is to force the game to an end eventually to prevent games taken hostage.
7 -
No, I am not. It is just my opinion.
What I mean by "endgame tension" is that feeling of: "Should I watch the hatch? Or hunt the last one?" And then, if both find it: "Who is going to move first?". And that when you managed to get the grab... most satisfying thing in the game.

EGC is already perfect, it's not meant as a tool for killers but as a way to end matches when they reach certain point.
I wouldn't mind seeing some perks focused around EGC that would be able to regress 99ed exit gates (possibility for part of NOED rework) but baseline it doesn't need anything else.
2 -
it's counter intuitive I want them closed
0 -
How about treating them like gens. If you want the exit to regress, you get the ability to kick it, (3 second action) like with gens trying to open the gate for any length of time stops the regression. That way the sneaky 99 and save is still possible with good planning, and the killer gets more interaction with the gate than just giving up and opening it.
0 -
Gates spawn too close to each other for EGC to start when gens are done, killers would just apply pressure to gates and then all survivors would die.
7 -
Every match isn't like this and pretending it is just shows you don't care about balance, you just want everything in your favour.
10 -
I think the main issue is end game is just boring asf, if the EGC was to start after the last gen was done then the 99ing door wouldnt be such a issue as it would take away the main reason to 99ing which is to control EGC that why theres alot of 99ing it so survivors control when they want EGC to happen.
before any one say oh killers can open it yes true but is it wise to do nope you are punished for gates opening on emblem system and the benefits of killers opening gates is very small compare to survivors having a exit gate open.
So in short no regressing exit gates just bring EGC to last gen done problem sorted you can even increase the timer if needs be but lets get this 99ing issue sorted
0 -
I get points for opening the gate as killer. Beside it the killer's fault for allowing it to reach the end like that.
