Please, for the love of god, don't fix the cosmetic glitches
The only reason why I even buy some of these linked sets and legendaries is to combine them with other outfits, that's only possible via bugs. By fixing said bugs you remove any incentive of ever buying linked sets again. Don't do this.
I know that you probably have some duties to various license holders but you still can pretend that these issues are beyond your responsibility since those would be bugs and not actual ingame-features.

Too late it's fixed and I shall now cry with my steve outfits cuz I don't even like steve🙃

Don't you dare touch my goth girl

Oh wow, that actually looks really nice

- Buying something because it's bugged is just a bad idea. Bugs get fixed. It's like buying a book that's on fire - eventually, you're going to lose the product.
- Lying to people with whom you have a contract is a great way to get sued into oblivion.
7 -
I could be wrong but to my understanding as long as you don't change your current combination, you're not going to lose your bugged outfits. It's just if you change it, it won't be possible to get back. So not really a waste of money in that perspective if you're happy with what you already have.

You payed them for a linked set now you wear that linked set. you told them it is ok by purchasing it so live with it.
2 -
omg, i was about do it again, because my Cheryl skin reset after i did the tutorial....

I lost my gliched Leon (he was set to default when i loaded in) and I'm upset about it.
Everyone else stayed the same though so it seems like they patched it specifically because of the RE license
1 -
Thank god, my Doctor was spared

So:
-If you load into a lobby with a glitches set, it resets.
-The cosmetic glitch can still be done in the store.
-Swapping from a character to a character that has a glitched set will keep the set glitched.
-Currently someone ik is testing if playing a game with your glitched set will reset it when the trial is over.
For the moment you can keep your glitched sets but play no games with them
7 -
thats... not how this works.
a linked skin is supposed to be linked, people unlinking it with a glitch is therefore an error in the system that needs to be fixed - ESPECIALLY when we are talking licensed skins here.
They cant just ignore the license agreement they made as you suggest they should. worst case they can get sued over that kind of stuff and its only understandable they would want to avoid that.

He looks hot 😳
1 -
seriously, with most 'sets' all they'd need to to is slightly alter the meshes to line up with the regular cosmetics.
but given that most of kate's tops clip through her legwear...

I actually saw the opposite on a YouTube comment just 10 minutes ago. They said their glitched Nea was reset to default but their glitched Leon wasn't touched.

There's 0 reason to have most head cosmetics linked,Jane's Goddess outfit is a prime example.
5 -
Keep us updated! :)

The cosmetics glitch was fixed in order to preserve the image of licensed characters, which means we are often unable to sell additional outfit pieces separately. The team is still working on high prio bugs like the map crashes and performance issues!
6 -
I will, currently awaiting a response from the testing
0 -
Ok but why are you being so strict with non licensed sets? Can we get a clear explanation as to why pieces that have 0 clipping issues are linked? As I said above Jane's Goddess outfit head has no clipping.
14 -
Thank you Mandy. I think many of us realize that licensing can play a big part in the reason why linked sets are a thing to begin with.
Many of us however, don't want to lose our (Orginal Character) linked sets that look good and cause no clipping issues to begin with.
1 -
Update on this, in a custom game as soon as the trial ended the set was reset.
So, you can definitely keep the broken set just never play the character again.
Thanks bhvr :)
6 -
Thank you for letting us know,I'd rather break it myself than have it reset.
2 -
I assume they coded this to happen to all "set" outfits in the game. Sad day this is 😭
2 -
Just managed to do the storeglitch on 5.0.1 like Karu said, I've yet to break more than one piece of a set however.
Goth Girl Cheryl has been restored for now.
0 -
Shame you can't play with her though
0 -
if they want to make these legendary sets actually worth the money now that we cant even break them they need a completely new voice over to differentiate them because a different stance in lobby doesn't cut it.
that and stop making them for unlicensed characters.
4 -
I feel this should just be possible without the bug honestly.
1 -
The bugged set still loads into the game, though? It only resets after the match, correct? So I'd be forced to repeat the glitch every time and then queue up with a dummy just to switch to her before the timer ends.
0 -
Technically you could do that, but is it really worth the hassle every time?Almost too much for me personally.
0 -
That seems like far too much effort but if you're that devoted then yeah it's entirely possible.
3 -
Or you know.. fix Cybil and Claire's face.. They need it the most right now
4 -
After the bugfix I'm stuck with Lisa which is alright considering she's really pretty, but damn do I feel sorry for those stuck with Cybil
1 -
Just don't buy linked sets
Maybe they will eventually get the idea....
Wait, who am I kidding?

This is 100% the exact same situation as with the mori nerf. The mori nerf was pushed into a Twins chapter hotfix because people were already mad, so throwing the mori nerf into a random update didn't make more people mad because everyone was already mad at the developers.
This is the same thing. Everyone is angry about the horrible state the game is in. The perfect time to remove the cosmetic glitch because no new people will get upset.

I stilling don’t get why their license agreement calls for linked sets considering that multiple licenses already don’t have w cosmetics and Capcom especially does stuff like this:
2 -
LOL feel this solidified my theory a bit.
Said the tutorial "bug" is 100% on purpose by devs. They knew ppl would play the tutorial and lose them.
Maybe they fixed it to keep it that way, or they fixed it cause the word on the "bug" spread too fast.
LMAO theres higher priorities here, devs.

uhm

If it really wasn't up to the license holders and this is a decision solely made by BHVR why on earth would they link sets when they know they don't sell as well and it causes nothing but an uproar? How can it be a money grab when it's quite blatantly obvious people don't want to spend their money on linked sets.
1 -
Do you have hard data on what does or doesn't sell, or is that just your perception?
1 -
Aside from the community's very vocal response about it, the lack of linked sets for orginal characters that have come out recently is pretty telling.
0 -
There are plenty of original survivor sets where the heads don't need to be linked and a lot of original killer sets where the weapons don't need to be linked. It would be greatly appreciated by DbD's customers if you adjusted those sets to be two linked pieces instead of three.
Especially when weapons like the Look-See's and the Mordeo's can hinder gameplay, and gameplay should always take priority. The Hag's Crypt TV set isn't linked, so this doesn't seem like a licensing issue.
4 -
The forum is a minority of players. Note that whenever people here are crying out that the game is "the worst it's ever been" (i.e.: after every single patch), DbD's player numbers are soaring. Usually I'd agree that the lack of linked sets for new characters could indicate that they don't sell well, but it could just as easily be because of the graphical reworks.
2 -
It's not just the forums that I see this response on. Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook are among other sites where I see this kind of reaction. I realize that not every player is on social media, but I really don't think there's anyone out there actually advocating for more of these types of outfits.
And I doubt anyone would actually be upset if a set they own eventually became unlinkable. I guess we'll just have to wait and see how many more are pushed out this year, as I doubt they'll ever release statistics on cosmetic sales.
1 -
I can now confirm that playing survivor is enough to reset your killer cosmetics in case you managed to break their set(s). RIP my Look-See Doctor.
0 -
I'd imagine there are different agreements with different license holders.
We may not like the answer but at least we're getting a transparent response.
0 -
BHVR said they only want sets locked "to keep the image of the characters" or that they aren't able to make separated parts, but never that they are license-forced because as you could see with Leon, Leatherface and Jill they are free to make whatever they want with the cosmetics since they already bought the license agreements to have the image of the characters
0 -
License holders will have sign off, otherwise you can bet we’d already have our shirtless Daddy Myers.
0 -
Play one game with it and you lose it. Resetted.
0 -
As a Silent Hill fan it breaks my heart when i see a Lisa with the head of Cheryl.
It would be fine to unlink legendary pieces for each single character tho, but i guess the license-holders don't want that?
0 -
Okay, now THIS is hella relevant, BHVR needs to address this:
As you can see there's absolutely NOTHING preventing BHVR from removing these restrictions from Cheryl's cosmetics. So why are there still linked sets? The least you can do is free her non-legendary cosmetics so that we can freely combine her goth hair with the other stuff she has.
PLEASE give me my goth girl Cheryl back.
