Rank reset on the 7th ?
Are we gonna get a rank reset on the 7th when SBMM comes out ? or are we gonna play a week and then get reset ?

The new ranking system will launch with Pinhead and mmr. So there will be nothing to reset.

The grades need a reset. Well, not really, bc nobody has progress, but im wondering whether the first month will be a week longer or there will be only one week for the first grades. I doubt they will change the 13th as rank reset day.

I do not believe there is a confirmation one way or the other. During the PTB, I noticed streamers were already gold but in lobbies with people who were bronze or silver. So... Maybe? Sorry, no clue.

We've been told previously that we'd reset to the bottom rank every rank reset, so I'd presume that when the update comes, we should all go down to Ash IV.
I'm a bit confused as to when the update comes; I thought it was next Tuesday, if so, rank reset is likely to be held off until that day since it would be the 14th. If this week, then we may not actually be reset until rank reset, since it wouldn't make sense to reset twice in the space of a week.

Same thing I was thinking about. Would be nice to get an info on it but since BHVR is so good with communication, we will maybe learn about this during the update, at best

I would like to think we won't be reset to Ash IV on the 7th, seeing as the monthly reset is only 6 days later. That doesn't give anyone any time to reach a reasonable grade and earn any significant reward on the 13th.
I would hope that everyone is translated across by one colour. So if you're red rank, you start at Iridescent IV, purple rank goes to Gold IV, green to Silver IV, etc.
This would be a nice "welcome to SBMM" gift, and a good start to a new and untrusted system, to give everyone a bit of a bonus on the 13th.

The PTB didn't reset peoples grades to Ash IV so we can reasonably expect that your ranks will converted to grades tomorrow and then reset on the 13th.

We've not confirmed the exact date of the Chapter release, however, if it happens prior to the 13th of the month, you will be given the equivalent of your current Rank so if you're Rank 20, you'll be Ash, Rank 1 = Iri (for example). Which is the same as it was in the PTB.
Then on the 13th of the month, everyone will be sent back to the lowest Grade and you'll receive a reward for the highest Grade you achieved in the previous season.
*it's going to take me a while to get used to saying Grade instead of Rank!*

I don't think I can change from calling it rank. Rank is so self explaining, everyone knows what it is by the name alone.

yeah after saying Rank for 5 years, for me to say Grade is going to be really weird - I'm going to make mistakes on it for a long time!

It's always going to be rewards based on the highest rank/grade you achieve during the month or it will then be based on your current grade at the end of the month?

I think a twitter post confirmed the chapter release to be "next week" 2 days ago, so a lot of people probably inferred that as tomorrow

As far as I'm aware it's the highest grade you achieved...I can double check that though to make sure nothing has been changed, not today though cos the Office is closed as it's Labor Day in Canada.

I always thought 'Rank' was a bit of a misnomer personally.
When I think 'rank 1' I think the single highest scoring individual, and 'rank 2' would be the second, etc. Or at the very least, percentiles, with 'rank 1' being the top 5% of the playerbase, etc.
That's how 'rankings' typically work in other competitive games, showing the 'top 100' players and where they each fall into the 'ranking' based on their score. Or something along those lines.
Given that Ranks in DBD were never relative to the skill of the playerbase as a whole, and instead entirely personal and dependant only on your own personal achievements, it always felt more like 'levels' or something else like that.

Considering that there's a limit to how much you can regress, I'm presuming that you can't go back a grade colour, right? Like once you reach Iridescent IV, then you're guaranteed an Iridescent until the 13th?
Or is it individual grades? Like you don't 'downgrade' at all, but you can lose pips until you back at the start of Iridescent II, making it take a little longer to reach Iridescent I.

yepp that page went Live after I finished for the weekend...so all good. At least we all know now that it's tomorrow so definitely before rank reset (will I have to start calling that "grade reset").

Just call them ranks and rank reset like 98.877% of the people will lol. It's not like people will suddenly forget what ranks were :)

It's new players that will get confused I think, if we're constantly saying Rank Reset and they've only ever known Grades, it will get more confusing for them :( so I will have to try to remember Grade Reset, which just sounds weird!
