Stop lying about SBMM, your posts have a time stamp.
Seriously the amount of posts saying mmr isnt working and is either before its release or not even 5mins after its release is stupid.
Like seriously how about you actually wait till it's out and play a bunch of games first? No wonder the devs cant balance or make changes to feedback when it's either fake or exaggerated.

And people do need to remember that sbmm requires placement matches

Thank you for saying what needs to be said.

They do?

Unless you have a legitimate source to prove otherwise, you’re wrong. They’ve been gathering data for this. Nobody is starting from scratch unless they’re brand new or haven’t played for months.
1 -
If you play a new killer. But survivors and killers you have played a lot don't need placement matches... They have the datas.
3 -
But the Data might not be accurate, because it was based on Rank-Matchmaking, not SBMM. So there will be cases where Killers and Survivors are ranked too high or too low.
Like, if I would jump into my Nurse right now, I can guarantee that I will get Baby Survivors, because I sucked hard against average Survivors.

Right, so if I have one bad match, then the whole system should be thrown out?
I'd have more respect for people's feedback in a few days when they can indicate how many matches they've played and why they think it's bad.
Posting 'MMR BAD' after 5 minutes means you did nothing and just wanted to post something useless.
For example, I actually heard @ScottJund in a video say '10 out of my last 14 matches as pinhead disconnected'. THis is actual value for something that is materially happening or people wouldn't be posting.. but when I see people posting something, and I'm not experiencing it, I'm sceptical if they're just spewing crap without any numbers. Sure, someone could just make up numbers... But that's just better lying. Having real meat behind your argument means it's worth more respect. "WAAAH X SUCKS" means nothing. Especially when you say it after only a few minutes without any kind of evidence.

Tons of players think SBMM has been activate for weeks now even when bhvr said it wasn't so really not surprised that people were making posts about it not working before it was actually activated today.
1 -
I would really hope that they still require at least some placement matches, otherwise this system is quite questionable. It matched me with a group that had at least 4.5k hours each as a survivor and as a killer against a group that had 500 hours max, and I have more hours as a killer.

True, there will definitely be an adjustment period because of how big of a mess the old ranking system made a lot of games. That’s not the same as placement matches, though.
0 -
Whilst that's technically correct you have to consider that SBMM, whilst collecting data hasn't been used for matchmaking - and we all know the varying skill between ranks. So for example, you could have stomped most of your matches as a killer because you were playing against weaker survivors (despite them being the same rank) and vice versa...which will of course increase your SBMM Score. So it definitely can take some matches before your SBMM score is more accurate.

Many people have made it very clear that they are not giving SBMM ANY kind of chance. Among them even streamers and fog whisperers with a following.
so i guess it is kinda expected to seeing this. Probably also for the other side, praising SBMM as working perfectly after one match is also not gonna help.
but we as a community should at least give this system a chance - especially when the alternative is the Emblem based matchmaking that was terrible when it worked and on top of it didn’t even work most of the time at all.
1 -
My understanding is they've been gathering data for placement for some time. Obviously, not sure if they're collecting more than they're using and then adjusting or changing what markers apply to MMR, but I'd assume that there's some usable history there.
That being said, it still doesn't work after 10 minutes that someone had one bad match. COme at me with "I've played 30 matches and 18 were crappy" or whatever. That being said, if MY last 30 matches were good, I'm still going to assume you just are a Luddite who wants old ranks back and somehow assumes posting a 'WAAAAH' crying post will make that happen.
1 -
Can you please tell me where I said anything about throwing the whole system out? I was disagreeing with someone’s claim that the system requires placement matches, not making any judgements about the system itself. I haven’t even had time to play a single match yet, I have no idea how good or bad it might be.
0 -
This is true, but it needs to be adjusted. Like, if I stay at my Nurse, it will take some games until I will not get Survivors with like 7 hours, which was the case during the latest test.
And I guess this will go for every Killer I own that they are either too high or too low (most likely too high, since I am doing quite well with the majority of them). But I only tested Billy and Nurse during the latest test, because I know that I am bad with Nurse and Billy was bugged all the time before when it comes to SBMM.

Sorry, seems like maybe I just chose a poor post to reply to... It does sound like you're supporting people making negative feedback about a pretty big change after it's been live for an eyeblink based on what is fairly unknown information.
Maybe the past recording of information was not as pertinent as they thought and it DOES need some time to dial in. Who can say?
I'd say people's feedback will be more valuable in a few days, a week, a couple of weeks from now rather than having a hair-trigger response just because we assume the past data will give us perfect matches right out of the gate...
I think OP is posting against people who are obviously posting against MMR without any real experience of the live MMR that we're all part of now.

Maybe you shouldn’t assume what other people do or don’t support based on nothing? I’m not in favour of hair trigger reactions, I’m just pedantic. Which is why I replied to a comment and not the post itself, which I actually agree with.

Fair enough. I'm all for giving the new changes some time to sink in. Sounds like you are, too. Best of luck.
1 -
Not to mention everyone considers a bad game different. Bad teammates don't mean the MMR is wrong, your kill count does not mean the MMR is wrong, it's about whether the others in the trial were your skill level and whether or not you had a legit chance to win.
1 -
SBMMR has been using flawed data for the last month, because it's using the old emblem system, which does not work well. However, the old emblem system is better than no data at all. So the match making system is running off very flawed data but it now getting good data. You need the good data to filter out the not-so-good data.

Great comment.

Honestly, same to you. I hope that SBMM turns out to be a great new feature that improves the game, even if there’s a bit of an adjustment period for it first. :)

Well for me at least, I just want every player to have fun, survivors or killers. The sooner, the better.

Is there a reason the rank grades aren't hidden like they were during the last test?
0 -
During the test... RANKS were hidden. Since we are now on the GRADE system those do not need to be hidden. Grades are not the same as rank.
0 -
While grades are different right now players know what rank they were and the current grade is equal to that. So players are seeing iridescent 4 with Ash 1 or Bronze 3 and are thinking SBMM isn't working because they know Ash 1 was a 17 and Bronze 3 was a 15. If hidden for the time, atleast until reset, it will remove their ability to judge based on grade which currently is what their rank would've been.
0 -
I mean, if you never touched that killer before then how is the game supposed to judge that you are good as that killer or bad as that killer
I do have a source, literally almost every multiplayer game ever. If it didn't have placement matches then you could smurf an account and immediately stomp everyone and ruin the game for people, and bhvr mentioned a while back that each killer has a different mmr rating with this, if you are really bad with nurse but really good as Oni, while you played them alot before mmr started, you should be facing bad survivors with nurse and good survivors as Oni, however if you never touched that character ever then you won't have a rating unless the sbmm affects other ratings as well and averages it out, using the previous example with Nurse and Oni, you would be facing the middle ground of survivors, if you are good with every killer, you should have almost the same exact lobbies as other killers with this new one, however if it doesn't average out the mmr you would be facing a random set of people during the placement matches, one second you could face someone who just bought the game, the next second you could be facing someone with the skill of a competitive dbd player, and trust me that isn't fun to have inconsistent matches. For survivor, if you just started it will most likely have your mmr set in a way to be around 0 in order to face other survivors that are new, this is just an example so idk the base sbmm bhvr uses for the game
Correct

I don't think it's a specific reason as such, we chose to not have them hidden. They were hidden on the previous test so that we could get feedback on how matches felt instead of "it doesn't work the ranks were all over the place" due to the colours being shown.
2 -
SBMM is active as of today. Theoretically, you should stop worrying about comparing your own grade against others. I guess some people can't mentally grasp it.
0 -
That's why I asked why it wasn't hidden. I mean, it was pretty apparent that when they didn't hide them people were judging how it worked based on rank. Until everyone gets reset it's going to be "SBMM isn't working" because they're focusing more on the grade in relation to rank. People would say "rank doesn't matter because people depip on purpose" while saying "what's you rank because I'm red rank so I know what I'm talking about" so not surprised they are still comparing. 😂
1 -
Thanks for answering. I figure right now people are still comparing the grades even though they don't matter so probably focusing on that more than feel until reset will remove that ability.
0 -
Honestly, average maximum grades should also have a small influence on mmr. While I do agree that rank is mostly grind based, there is some value behind it. People that play enough to be iri I shouldn't be always put with (not bad) people that barely ever play.
Regardless, I am still happy with SBMM as of now.
0 -
Except that the data gathered from before SBMM went live will be less accurate data, due to those matches being under the wildly inaccurate rank based matchmaking. The data gathered from now, will be under SBMM, so it'll be more accurate.
For example, you could be a low rank, or have smurfed, and be a much better killer that you 'should be' for rank... 10 lets say. So under rank based matchmaking you've been getting a ton of easy games because you keep getting paired with mid-rank survivors, when you're really a "rank 4" killer in terms of skill. This would set you up for an incredibly high MMR for SBMM.
Or maybe you just play at off-peak times, which means the old matchmaking just never worked for you, and you routinely went against low level survivors anyway.
Or maybe, like me, you always find yourself against red rank seal team teabag, even though you were a purple rank killer (in terms of skill and actual rank). Which means you lose more games than you win (but barely black pip so you don't de-rank). This would set you up with a lower MMR than you should have.
So in any of those scenario's, your MMR will not be where it 'should be' under SBMM.

Realistically, we need to wait and see how things settle for about a month, but you know, most people are here to share their thoughts.

"share their thoughts" is a nice phrase for "Playing and losing one game, opening a Forum Thread immediatly".
