Dwightcrow charm again?
Why didn't you make a new one for this year?
I remember trying loads of codes last year just to get this 'exclusive' that y'all just recycled?
Ah well its only a charm but still

I think it's because a lot of people couldn't get it.
4 -
Was that not the point of it?
5 -
I am glad I don’t have to do that again for a new charm.
and I think it’s cool to give people another chance to get it. I don’t know why people like exclusive stuff that’s impossible to get outside of a short period of time
15 -
I never got it despite trying many times. Super frustrating. I'm glad I have another chance, but hopefully it's not the awful code system from last time.
1 -
Why not create another charm? That smells lazyness
2 -
They like flaunting virtual cosmetics as a way of saying they're better than you because they got it.
Or they like wearing it just to say like "Hey I was playing back then" but if you're poor you don't get either of these options so ######### them I guess
Imho it's better off this way.

Thank god there's no reason to do that crap again.
It was literally hours of watching annoying people that I don't want to watch going "I'll give more codes sooooon" for 3 hours only to release like 5 codes which were obviously gone instantly.
And if anyone said it was bad they obviously defended it because it was getting them free views.
Like honestly just run Twitch drops like good companies do.

Not at all, there were a lot of players who couldn't get this code the last time around and we wanted to rectify that. Also we have a lot of new players since then, there's no reason that they should be denied the opportunity to get this charm.
14 -
Actually glad to hear about this
I got it the first time around but it was such a massive pain.

If this would now also apply to Legacy Items it would be like Christmas, Easter and New Year's Eve together. Damn it :)

Dang, RIP my legacy charm.

As someone that managed to get a DwightCrow code last year I'm glad they're making it available for everyone. I hope they don't do the limited use codes like that again, it's not fun and it's a crappy way of making a cosmetic exclusive. It also seems dumb to encourage people to not play the game but instead watch a streamer play the game.
3 -
The codes are not going to be limited use from what I know, but they will be limited in time.
4 -
console players were punished because pc players type faster
3 -
There are (probably) always going to be new players joining the game. By definition of them being new some (probably a lot actually) of them will have missed some (or a lot) of old, event-specific charms.
Are you going to be bringing back other "temporarily available" charms in the future? Or is that something that has not been decided yet, so you can't comment on it?
2 -
I'm glad to hear, limited time feels like fair way to deal out codes for exclusive items like DwightCrow - especially since it seems like you generally have few days atleast to use the code when limited time codes have been given out. The limited use codes just feel unfair and put sour note on what should be fun event.

Wait until you'll see the new Halloween event. My bets: halloween gens, halloween hooks and speed boost addons with different names.
1 -
Bad: Stuff like this Dwightcrow charm - limited time and then never available again, or, in this case, available again for what is probably another limited amount of time
Good: Timed codes for items which are then available again later (for example in the store). For example the christmas sweaters. Some of which you could get with codes but if you missed them you can buy them
Limited codes for stuff that never returns are unfun and a bad system that should not be used anymore.

So why even create all that hoopla about getting this exclusive limited-time-only charm? The goal was not for everyone to gain access to the charm; this was apparent by how you distributed it. Last year, you could've made it a global code or a login reward if you didn't want to deny anyone the opportunity.
The decision to make it widely available shows a lack of respect and regard for your players' time and investment. Returning the charm in such a simplified way also sets a bad precedent for the game; how can we be certain a future exclusive reward that is tedious and time-consuming to acquire won't later return and be accessible to acquire? The charm is ugly, I never used it and never will, but I specifically went out of my way to obtain a code on console (as hard as that was) for the sake of FOMO. And now it's back? I wish this had been communicated to us last year so I would save myself the trouble. Even after complaints, Bvhr never indicated it would return in 2021 and be more accessible.
1 -
Some time there will be "exclusives" like the rift for example - they're basically exclusive for a short period only. The people who obtained the code last year, have had exclusive use of it for a year. We never stated that these wouldn't be released in another way at any point, nor did we say they were not going to become available again, the decision was made after the popularity of the code. Players who obtained it back then have had exclusive use of it for a year, we can't guarantee this will happen with every exclusive/limited item.
6 -
Can it stop being a killer exclusive so my survivors can wear it? 😁
4 -
Fair points. Yes, it was never stated, but sometimes not everything has to be explicit to be understood. The marketing around it heavily implied a very special, limited, and highly sought-after charm. The unfun and tedious nature of entering a 60 character code with a few redemptions only obtained from a handful of streamers reinforced this view. People were frustrated and angry, some spending days and weeks watching stressed-out streamers, and you can be confident they only did it because they feared it would never return.
Bvhr needs to be more forthcoming about exclusive content in the future, and the acquisition methods should reflect that. You could use the approach some other games have done. Announce an exclusive early-access opportunity to get something in-game and note that this item will become more broadly available again next holiday, etc.
4 -
Why charms are survivor or killer exclusive I'll never understand. Who cares if I want to show off my killer mains on my survivors' belts?
3 -
I do understand that, and we have looked at our way of delivering codes since then. Our partners will probably still get codes to give out to the Community, but we have taken on board the feedback in the way these codes are given.
4 -
It makes them feel special having something that someone else wants, but can't have. It is kind of pathetic.
3 -
Thank you for that and the insight. I'm glad the feedback matters to Bvhr and look forward to the event. I love exclusives and limited edition content, so I hope to see more, not less of that. Just keep it exclusive! It's really cool when things say "you had to be there" rather than everyone having everything.

Unfortunately, Dead by Daylight is not the game to get invested in exclusives with. BHVR has made it very clear they do not like exclusives. And currently the only actual exclusive content is Legacy and Rift charms. And even the charms I can see being released in the future once/if they ever update the store to include charms.
All Rift outfits eventually release into the store, and I really wouldn't get your hopes up for anything to ever be exclusive, especially after BHVR have voiced their dislike on exclusivity.

Well delivered feedback.
1 -
@ProfoundEnding I agree and never have since most items do return. It does seem less likely we will ever see a true definitive forever exclusive other than Legacy and the Level 70 Charms from The Rift.
@OneCagedHeart thanks, you are too magnanimous. I expected tons of attacks from people that think I want to feel special over the charm lol

Thats what an exclusivity means, even if its à ######### thing to do
1 -
Thank you for this. I missed out on the charm last year(?) Due to having a full time job. I simply don't have the time to keep streams and the game open at the same time
1 -
Im a console player and i got it

So basically its a big middle finger to the people who worked hard to get it last year, because theyre just going to give it to everyone
Edit: I apologise for getting a bit too serious about it, it doesn't really matter, i just remember it being advertised as a "one time exclusive" but suppose not and thats fine. Good for the people who really want it and didnt get it because i understand it was hard to obtain.
1 -
And last year the codes were a huge middle finger to those that couldn’t follow streams for whatever reason.
guess what? The ‚hard work‘ was to watch people play a game and give codes away and type them in your own game. Which iirc was also very tedious for console players, many of them could often not get it just because they had to type them in with a controller.
in the end, it’s a charm that never was promised to stay completely exclusive. And is still time exclusive.
3 -
I got it on PS4 last year. I don't feel like I'm getting the middle finger. I never even see these charms on any hooks.
I don't really consider sitting on the store screen (instead of playing; brilliant plan, BHVR) entering fifty different codes as "working hard." It was annoying and a really stupid way to distribute something. I'm happy I'll get to have the charm on my new Switch account.
The actual middle finger is that it's not a universal charm. I should be able to wear the Dwightcrow charm as a survivor.
2 -
Is there a code for this charm now? Where did you hear about this?
0 -
We also had codes hidden in pictures where if you have some kind of visual impairment you were disadvantaged in getting them in time.
Timed codes are still a bad idea, I see no reason why the acquisition has to be limited to a specific time of the year. But it's still sooo much better than the other methods that were tried out.
1 -
dwightcrow was miserable to get last year and on top of the sad Halloween event I was kinda disappointed
2 -
Yay! Wasn't able to get it last year, so I'm very happy it returned! Thank you 😄
1 -
Thank god, I hated the limited codes. Especially ones you had to watch streams for, I don't have the time for streams and almost never watch them in the first place.
1 -
Just because you got it doesn’t mean most of the xbox community was capable of grabbing it, hell my friend even got it I’m just saying that most people couldn’t get it and it was so bad to the point most streamers had to hide 1 part of the code so it was possible
1 -
People will complain about anything I swear.
It's a freaking charm. Not a super exclusive skin for X character.
A charm that 9/10 times, no one else will see but you.
1 -
So many players turn away from playing games they can't unlock everything in. It just makes sense to have all cosmetics available to everyone at some point.
1 -
I'm happy it's back and available to everyone. I didn't even try last year because there was so much chaos around it -- and I don't think the system was great for the Fog Whisperers either. It's a nice gesture to bring it back for Halloween.
2 -
I didn’t even know this charm ever existed but I definitely can’t wait to get it!
