Remove SWF

When is the game finally going to remove SWF?

1. it only encourages more ppl to play survivor and harras the killer

2. there isn't supposed to be communications in a game wich is a 1 (killer) v 1 v 1 v 1 v 1 (survivors individually), If survivors don't go for unhooks, they lose, so that way they're forced to teamplay but not OP teamplay with coms and stuff...

SWF should have never been a thing ESPECIALLY NOT if the game developpers keep deciding to nerf killer and buff survivor, Killers really need a change or we will have to tunnel & facecamp forever in order to get 1. pip-up while a survivor needs to do jack ######### and still gets 1 even 2 pip-ups. It's disgusting SWF needs to be removed for the health of the game

They’ll never remove SWF and I agree it would probably kill the game if they did.

The only option is to bridge the gap between solo and SWF. It will be far from perfect as they don’t want to put comms in the game, so we’ll just have to take what we get and try to improve it over time.

The Survivor buff is for solo Survivors. The game is not balanced when 4 people abusing something on purpose. (But not every SWF are here to bully or abuse something.)

Play with friends is an important addition but the mistake is that there is nothing that will balance the game for both parties.

They need to rework SWF in some way in my opinion.

They are never going to punish players for playing with their friends. Quick way to kill the game.

What will be the point of the game existing then? Because if swf is removed, then multiplayer bots will just have to take over dbd's multiplayer concept and turn it into a single-player game only.

However, the devs do have the option to put in Kwf if they put in a different gamemode (Which is less likely to happen).

But the point is that they cannot remove this and it will just cause the game to die and people being isolated from their friends online. So what you are going on about is an absolute joke and immature

I gotta disagree. Weeding out potatoes is a nice benefit for sure, but comms are everything when it comes to SWF as the level of information provided breaks the intended mechanics of the game. (DBD was originally designed around working with limited information, and it still is for solo queue, which is why you have to spend a perk slot to alleviate it to a small degree.)

Potatoes will always be a thing and there will always be people who ignore information or don’t care to be a team player, but that’s the case with every multiplayer game.

Swf isn't the actual problem and shouldn't be removed, it's a bad move for the game life.

They need to adress the imbalance of this game and balance it better (i know it's not easy for a asymmetrical game), the game speed and the viability of the killers.

Adres that and you'll see that swf becomes less of a problem, it will be still strong but more doable imo

Well the games dying anyway thanks to bhvr rarely listening and having this "we know whats right and you guys arent smart" attitude.

That last part of what you said makes me think about what peanits said about mmr when it was released.

It was to difficult to explain according to him.

Q&A comes up and they acknowledge it was indeed based on kills and escapes 😂

Yeah that was really difficult to explain indeed, way to hard for me to understand how it works 🤣

I play sometimes on 4 man squad but with no communication. Mainly with people I found playing solo que and just adding them based on how they played. Is that fine?

The best part about playing with friends is getting reliable teammates and not noobs or scrubs that only care about themselves

Basic comms that most players are used to don't really convey all that much information. They certainly don't break the game in a meaningful way. One of the biggest things new players in the comp scene find is that their comms are really, really bad and lack info. It takes months to get them up to speed. They're used to doing comms in a SWF environment but they don't realize just how much information those comms lack until they hear good comms.

Most SWFs don't even have a system for every map or a way to determine precise location of anything. The comms are extremely generic "he's on me" "he's leaving me" "the totem is at the jungle gym" which don't tell you a whole lot. It's certainly not going to swing a game to an appreciable degree against a killer who is playing well.

Yes, they can coordinate saves and other basic things, but that won't put them that much ahead of 4 good solos. A killer shouldn't be relying on suboptimal survivor play anyway. The goal should always be to obtain your best result even if the survivors make the correct decisions.

I always wondered why it was called SWF.

In my case it's more Die With Friends.

I play with different people, it's usually just me, and then I go into either a team with one friend or another, rarely it's 3 playing, and we honestly don't talk about the game apart from the random: #########, man's got BBQ or "I need to unhook because of my daily" kind of conversations.

There is a massive difference between SWF and "professional" competitive teams.

The reason this game is still as live as it is, is because you can play with friends, which is nice.

Don't put us all in the same bag.

Yeah man I play with my cousin so ppl can’t accuse me of SWF.

One theme I notice when it comes to these discussions is that many people don’t utilise comms to the fullest effect, which is all good, and it’s great to be able to jump on and have a good time with your friends, but this doesn’t change the fact that if you do choose to use them to your advantage, comms are one of the most powerful tools survivors have access to, yet this tool is not available to anyone in solo queue.

Analogies are very popular on the forums as of late…

    cough cough

It’s like playing on an FPS with wall hacks, but choosing not to shoot anyone you wouldn’t normally see.

Alright, that’s an extreme example but you get the idea lol.

Im glad BHVR are finally looking into the issue and I’m confident they’ll find a decent compromise eventually, but it’s just a shame to know that actual comms will never be built into the game.

I only play killer, i dontvmind swf, i find it cute and kind of realistic. But i think if on mic they should only hear each other if nearby, not across the map. Sure they can just use a mobile phone to chat, but it would add some realism . But nah, swf is ok.

dog if you are literally wasting so much time as killer that survivors can do whatever they want and still beat you, you need to get good.

    Literally skill issue

When me and my buddies play we're often discussing which killers have the biggest and or dirtiest genitalia and what we'd do with it given the chance (hello Evan 👀, but not Slinger he's dirty). I assure you the majority of times people are playing with each other they're not sharing information how you think they are.

I don't see why they would make changes that would affect SWF only. Why not just tell the Killer when they face a SWF after the match so they are not just blindly guessing. I'm sure that would help a lot of killers get better at the game than just blame SWF every time they've lost.

It's at least an experiment that could be had.

And the issue with SWF is nobody else plays WITHOUT SWF unless you're really stupid!

I have SWF's against me all the ######### time! And if SWF is not removed soon, more and more killermains will leave the game!!

This Bullshitgame needs to stop buffing survivors patch after patch after patch and start buffing killers instead. SWF would be a fine start!

Besides... Playerbase in DbD dropped! why you think that is... massive survivor que's why you think that is... NO1 likes playing as Killer anymore because all the get is torment! It takes me 3 times less to rank up as survivor from ash to silver then on killer... and I'm a terrible survivor main! This is why ppl quit DBD!

And when we killers SPECIFICALLY ask for a nerf 'boon totems in general (hex: pentimento counter) & boon totem: circle of healing gigantic radius they only do a tiny tiny nerf that barely changes anything for the killer!

SWF either needs to be removed or killers need MASSIVE BUFFS or survivor needs MASSIVE NERFS.

I play solely as killer and I think there is a place for SWF. Hear me out…

    A) it should have its own playlist with its unique rules, add ons and perks.

    b) it should award higher blood points if you choose to play it.

    c) this SWF playlist would also introduce items like a walkie talkie. Could also be countered with killer add ons or perks, hexes etc. The coms could lose reception if you’re too far away or the killer somehow disrupts communication or you drop it after getting slugged.

    d) if survs don’t equip or find a radio, then they should only be able to hear each other if they’re within earshot of one another. This goes for killers too. A killer should be able to hear you based on proximity.

I think this would make it more fun for both sides if done right. Thoughts?

Good to know. And hopefully when i do something cool like letting the first downed survivor go because it only took 30 seconds into the game they let each other know in not a dirtbag

  • JPLongstreet
    JPLongstreet Member Posts: 5,847

Why wouldn't the survs just use the comms that are outside of DBD, which the devs have zero control over?

  • Cal28
    Cal28 Member Posts: 7

You’re right they could do that but it wouldn’t be as fun or immersive/realistic.

Another one of these threads. the answer is no.

Remove SWF and you will lost the majority of your playerbase. This game is pretty much only enjoyable when i play with people I like and trust. Randos suck

You don't need to share much info to be op. Just simply saying who is going for the save will greatly sway the balance of the game compared to solo players. Its the same reason they refuse to make kindred basekit.

Synergising perks also boosts them, knowing who has bt and who doesn't. Only one COH boon.. etc etc.

  • RakimSockem
    RakimSockem Member Posts: 1,998

I'm very good at the game actually. being good doesn't stop me from getting left on hook because 3 idiots can't stop what they're doing and be altruistic.

As much as I hate going against SWF teams, removing SWF would literally kill this game.

    "just get good"

Bestie I have set a timer before and ran a Michael for a solid 20 minutes on old Coldwind. My one solo teammate, who was not dead on hook, had 20 minutes to complete 2 generators and it took her eighteen of them.

No amount of my own skill can compensate for that. I played that game damn-near flawlessly, and we both escaped because of me, but if I'd been even slightly worse and not managed the whole 20 minute chase thing we'd have been done for. Had I only gone for 17 minutes, what then? Was I just garbage because I couldn't telepathically force my teammate into repairing generators?

Your argument is flawed on so many levels I'm shocked Mount Olympus doesn't reside at the top.

The irony of saying this but not taking your own advice and just getting good so you can beat better SWFs.

Ahhh yes, let me get good after running the killer for 2 - 3 gens and then the team mates don't save me, if only I had been better at the game.

Sorry, id like to add that as killer i definately would NOT want to hear what survivors are saying. First it would be distracting, second theres already enough bullying. Imagine the sort of stuff you would have to hear 🥺

  • Cal28
    Cal28 Member Posts: 7

Agreed. I completely overlooked the fact bullying could happen. Guess I had too much faith in humanity.
