BHVR is working on a new Silent Hill game called Silent Hill Ascension.
So now a Silent Hill chapter 2 is possible or more Cheryl/Pyramid Head skins. As a Cheryl main this is amazing :D
Edit: please chill with the arguing, this post was meant to appreciate that we may get more Silent Hill content

I hope they add Flesh Lips as a killer. I just really want to know how BHVR would make it work.
1 -
Does it take place in silent hill or it it going to be like Silent Hill F that is simply in the same universe
0 -
Not a lot is released on it, but the subtext says "Face your trauma together" so I'm assuming its a DBD type of game but its also being worked on by people behind Life is Strange: True Colors so it could be a Telltale type of game. Other than that little to no info on the settings as far as I know. Just the devs.
1 -
Oh Life is strange true colors was kinda garbo so i dont have much hope
0 -
Power would be like demo but with their legs and choke you making it deep woundedlol
3 -
Imagine asymetric Silent hill
1 -
BHVR should focus on their own game, they struggle enough with that as it is and dont even have a team working 7days a week...
5 -
BHVR promote work/life balance massively, which is part of the reason why it's constantly voted as one of the best companies to work for.
Game Studios are generally working office hours which are Monday - Friday, and we make many games, not just Dead by Daylight, and have done for many years, hence this is the 30th year of the Company!
25 -
BHVR was already a game development company and publisher before DbD and it would be stupid to set everything on just one game. It’s also unlikely they would actually take away resources from the DbD Team without filling them again when it currently (probably) is their golden goose
3 -
I don't think BHVR has ever worked on just one game at a time
2 -
lol
1 -
Yes I know, i played games like naughty bear but my point still stands.
DBD is an active game, the others arent and some even mega flopped and could barely last.
When their biggest game cant have a teams to rotate the week it's not good.
Yeah last big game they tried to push with DBD failed rather fast, I cant even think of the name it latest so little it was another 4v1. Point being is they should focus on one game.
Just stating facts I dunno what to say
2 -
I'm fully aware you make other games, iv played them. But DBD is your big main game and honestly what made your company big, not saying naughty bear etc. Wasnt good but its DBD which grew.
And you dont need the same people to work all week, you split it into shifts so people arent burnt out but your game has constant observation.
Nothing sucks more than having to wait a whole weekend for huge bugs to be addressed or even removed. Sure it's not that common but over the years it happens
1 -
The definition of "facts" is not "my personal biases based on lack of understanding" Not sure where you're getting that from.
2 -
Wow.
you are attacking the whole DbD community just like that?!
5 -
You mean saying a company should focus on their own game, their biggest one which actually grew their company to what it is?
Did we just forget all the other non arcade game they tried to do along side DBD, another asymmetrical which had such a short life...
BHVR have had good games like naughty bear and even DBD but what actual game has been a success along side producing DBD? And they dont work all week so yes that's also a fact.
0 -
tell me you know nothing about game dev without telling me you know nothing about game dev
2 -
Tell me you kiss their behind without telling me lol
Seriously which game made BHVR as popular as it is? Which game is actively played with a huge community? Which game is their biggest success?
1 -
Yes, that is exactly what I mean. It lacks understanding on how the video game industry works.
0 -
They've likely been working on the game at least partially already. They dont seem to be any less focused on DBD. Plus, making relations such as one with Konami is just as important as actually developing the game. There is nothing wrong with BHVR branching out. I have my criticisms of BHVR but frankly this is just a silly one to me. Sad that a post about me being exited about more Cheryl skins possible turned into another thread like this but oh well :o

Theyve been one of the largest gaming studios in Canada before DbD was a thing lol
As for your other question, theyve made many other games over the years, DbD is just what theyre most known for since its their only live service game (atm anyway) There is not a single big studio out there that devote all their resources on a single project, and if they do theyre making a desperate attempt to try to climb back up and are clearly on the decline
Its not me kissing their ass, its just having basic knowledge on this kind of stuff which takes less than 2 minutes of thinking to figure out
0 -
Okay... but I'm not just on about one small part of the world, if that was the case many places have the top developers etc.
And once AGAIN, I know they have made other games iv played them.
But you didn't answer any of the questions and then say I dont have any knowledge and try to insult me saying it takes 2mins to think.
Just because I say they shouldn't focus on other potential big games doesnt mean they solely have to work on DBD. It's just smart to use the majority of your company on the game which actively grew them, no need for another death garden...
0 -
Who said they're not using the majority on DBD? Like you said, DBD is their golden goose. They'd never just not focus on it. This new Silent Hill game is being developed by 4 different developers. BHVR is not putting too much of their resources into it, I guarantee it.

https://www.bhvr.com/games/ some examples of the games this company has worked on, this of course does not include all upcoming games etc.
BHVR is a gaming studio - to focus on one game would be beyond impractical as growth is always required, and we've always worked on many many different games.
We have teams dedicated to each game that we're making, and this does not detract in any way from the team that works on Dead by Daylight.
4 -
Do yourself a favor and go to the BHVR website.
DbD might be what BHVR is known for but it's only a very small part of the company
Most of their work is partnership with other games
Telling BHVR to only focus on DbD is like telling your local baker to only focus on croissants
2 -
If BHVR wants to work on passion projects or stuff that isn't DbD, by all means, they should. It's not like they owe us to drop their other creative endeavors just because DbD is popular. I think it would be sad if they were always shackled to one game.
0 -
To be fair croissants are very good.

I will never get over the fact that BHVR developed this one. Under a different name, sure, but this was my childhood
1 -
It's actually pretty incredible looking at the lists of how many games we've been involved with in some capacity - there's loads I remember from younger days prior to even working at this company...that's a lot of gaming history right there tbh.
(I also remember the Bugs Bunny game!)
2 -
It's like no one can read...
I'll put it in caps might help you see better
I KNOW BHVR WORK ON OTHER GAMES AND HAVE MADE OTHER GAMES.
I just dont want another death garden situation where it's a complete flop. So yeah I'd rather them use most of their company on DBD and only work on smaller projects on the side... or grow bigger so they can handle big demanding developments along side DBD.
Do yourself a favour and read before you jump on the bandwagon of trying to say I dont know they work on other games jeez

Was cool at the time and NGL the spongebob game was pretty cool also along side, was definitely different and a fun little game
0 -
What the hell, BHVR worked with Infogrames ?? This is such an infamous, cursed studio in French pop culture !
0 -
It's not that you don't know that they work on other games. It's that you don't understand that what you are suggesting is not practical.

There seems to be some confusion going on it here, so hopefully I can clear some things up.
First: BHVR has a separate division that does work for hire (developing or assisting with development of games for other companies). This is a big part of the company and always has been. Folks aren't being pulled off of DBD to go work on these projects en masse, each division has their own staff and bandwidth to budget. The DBD team is still growing, even.
Second: BHVR takes work life balance very seriously. Working 7 day weeks would be out of the question. As for having different shifts working different days, while I'm sure this is possible, I'm not quite sure how effective this would be. Game development is a highly collaborative process, people need to discuss things with their coworkers in order to get their work done. If the person/people you need to talk to aren't there that day, things are bound to slow down. But even beyond that, the saying "too many cooks" comes to mind. Throwing more people at a problem doesn't always mean that you'll solve it sooner. There's a very real chance that the chaos of more people poking around something does more harm than good.
That said, there is a small crew of people who are on call in case of emergencies (e.g. the servers go down), but not for minor bugs. I don't want to turn this into a long rant, but in short, the video games industry does not have a great track record for working conditions, and I cannot in good faith advocate for taking people away from their families and forcing them to work weekends over minor issues.
TLDR: This will have zero impact on DBD, the DBD team is still growing, and we do have a team available in case of emergencies on the weekend.

"one small part of the world"
When it comes to gaming, Canada isnt just "a small part of the world". Im sure you wouldnt consider Ubisoft a small company even when comparing them to any other gaming studio around the world. (which as far as Im aware, is their only competition in Canada)
And why would I answer the questions when you already know the answer? Of course DbD is their biggest success, but again no gaming studio puts all their eggs in one basket. Just a quick google search shows that BHVR as a whole has roughly 900 employees, and only about 100 of which work on DbD. (its not like DbD is failing either, and doesnt look like its going to any time soon) This shows they have more than enough wiggle room to experiment with new projects and potential big releases to expand even further. Which was shown to be something their doing with the last BHVR Beyond Livestream a few months back.

Very few professions require people doing shifts to work the whole week, game developing is not one of them.

There's really two different options for you if this is the case.
You can buy up maybe 50% of the stock so that you have controlling power of the company (if they're even a publicly traded company). You can also get hired, work your way up, and become CEO so you can set the agenda. The second one you'll still be accountable to the shareholders though and could get fired if your performance doesn't meet expectations.
Or you could stop demanding how a business operates itself on a free forum they provide and pay the bills for just because you play the game they make? Is this a thing you really think makes any logical sense and is worth your time to argue about on an internet forum about a video game? You know that the people who work for the company are real people with lives outside of your own, right? If the game company fails, they have to upend their lives and search for new jobs and, if there are stock options involved, those become worthless. This is on top of seeing something that they poured their creative and intellectual energy on caring and developing for however many years. You? You say, "That kind of sucks that game didn't work out," and scroll down the list of games on steam and pick up a new one in maybe 5 minutes.

so google lied?!

Well... if anything they have the ability to make another game that's not like DBD which is good
And if something goes good then we might see some of it in DBD
The issue with Deathgarden was it being similar to DBD so... one will be better then the other and the bad one will fail

I'd love to have a Silent Hill 4: The Room chapter, with Walter Sullivan as the killer, and with the victim ghosts as AI. Would be my absolute dream! Adding Henry Townsend and Eileen Galvin would be a great survivor combo too. I could just imagine being able to utilise the holy candles to ward off the victims, or even using a Sword of Obedience to pin them down temporarily.

Whenever you're in a situation where people are "bandwagoning" against you it's a very good practise to stop, put your ego aside and concider if maybe there is something you aren't grasping
You put it so nicely in caps that you know bhvr works on other games but you clearly don't understand what that means.
So lets go over this really slowly
BHVR is a company that works/creates multiple games
Those are devided into several projects
Each project has their own team and budget
DbD has their own team and budget and is an ongoing project
They will NOT pull people/ money from an ongoing project
Outside of convertations during lunch break it makes absolutely zero difference for the DbD team that this game is being made
Any fear you have of DbD being affected in anyway whatsoever is born out of sheer ignorance
But seeing how you also are unaware of how big of an ass you are making of yourself means the saying "Ignorance is bliss" still has some merrit

Yes! Silent Hill 4 is so slept on but I honestly think it stands up just as well as the first three.
I do REALLY want Valtiel as a killer because he/she/they (I really don't know lol) are super cool and their power would be super cool, maybe Angela and Eddie as survivors? I'd imagine that James woulda been the survivor but hes already a legendary skin for survivor.
1 -
Definitely the weirdest and most vague of the new SH announcements but I'm still shocked we're getting anything other than a new pachinko machine.

Only thing with Valtiel was he was always a valet of sorts for God, so I see him less as a killer and more some form of bastardised midwife to God. Could be an interesting skin for Pyramid Head, although the Butcher from Origins would make an equally cool skin.
But Silent Hill 4 is actually my favourite, because for me it was by far the truest form of horror, and the more you delve into it, the more the cleverness comes out, such as Henry deliberately being made non-descript, because it meant the player added character and such.
There were some bad bits (burping nurse corpse monsters falling down a staircase is accidentally the funniest moment in any horror game for me), but what an experience!

Most social life is based around M-F workweeks, and weekend shifts are the #########-shifts. Unless your entire social group is in the same work schedule as you, weekend shifts eat into your social life.

Death garden flopped due to a core gameplay issue that promoted less player interaction given hunter hyper-lethality, and the resulting "fix" introducing DBD's hook system quite literally was a tone-deaf addition that failed to realize that any scav that went to go for the Hook was likely signing their own death cert by deliberately walking into a zone where the Hunter would know you'd be coming to for an optional side objective that didn't help you escape as a scav or get kills as a hunter.
