Questions about the report system
Yesterday I filled out a ticket to the DbD support team and got a reply. In that reply, they linked the post "Game rules and report system" from 2018, which was last edited in July 2020. Usually I dont read this, but atm there’s kinda another version of these in the F.A.Q. section of the DbD-Support page (newest from October 2021, except the part about DC penalities). Reading both, I now have a few questions, maybe a mod can answer.
1. Is the unlocking of achievments with an achievment manager still a bannable offense? The use of these were bannable years ago, I reported a few players back then and they got banned.
2. If the usage of achievment managers ist still bannable, what is the punishment?
The last 2 questions are for the point „Other Hacks“:
3. In this part, it says „except if the user has been whitelisted by us“. Why would you whitelist someone for using 3rd party software to gain (and i quote the article here)„any kind of unfair advantage that wasn’t intended by the game“?
4. Why is it mandatory to report them for Unsportsmanlike and not Exploits, considering the explanations oft he cartegories in the game? This is mentioned in the post from 2018!
These’re screenshots from the offical articles & the reporting system in-game and they don’t match! For anyony curious, here’re the mentioned articles:

- We do not currently ban for unlocking achievements, however that's not to say we won't in the future
- (see above)
- That wording differs slightly from the one we have in our KB and I will check in with Support on this - as we do not define the user as being whitelisted but the app, so for example Discord. https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/kb/articles/139-game-rules
- Not quite sure what you are asking here, the difference between the two categories is pretty clear from the in-game description.
As an aside, all articles are now listed in our Knowledge Base as these are the ones that are kept updated...the link is the one I supplied above.

Thank you for respongin Mandy. To question number 1, do I read that right? It's still a bannable offense, but atm you wont get banned for It? For myself, it feels very bad, knowing players wont get punished for using this kind of software. If you try your best to get certain achievments (for example "Evil Incarnate", "Left For Dead" or "From the void she kills") and other players have just unlocked them via an achievment manager, seems wrong to me. Especially if checking for this, as a player, takes about 15-20 seconds on steam.
To question number 4, I worded that kinda poorly. The post from 2018 states, that it's mandatory to report these cases under "Unsportsmanlike", but the in-game description implies the use of the category "Exploits". I dont know, how your backend-support system works, but looking at the post from 2018, it seems that it's important to use the right category. Reports might've been not handled correctly, if a player uses the wrong category in the end-game-screen. So does a player have to report the usage of illegal 3rd party sowftware via the "Exploit" or "Unsportsmanlike" category?

it's ok if the wrong category was used, as reports are still handled and as most reports require video evidence we can clearly see what is happening.

When did this change? I remember friends back in the day get banned for hacking achievements. Will they get unbanned?
Also what about the people that got banned because a glitch on your end caused legacy to disappear from their accounts?
