Why DbD still has DC penalties?
This game was better when there was no penalties. The only problem it made solo-q weaker but now bots are replacing survivor. So there is no reason to keep it in game.
I am playing TCM atm and game has no penalty for dc'ing. It's just fine, there is no issues with it.

The reason is that people will DC at the slightest provocation otherwise.
That's not a healthy element you want to encourage in a game like DBD. For other games (like any battle royale, for example) it can be acceptable, but on a team game where your presence matters to your teammate's overall performance you shouldn't be able to routinely DC out of matches without penalty. Even with DC bots, it's a hit to the team's performance, the bots aren't perfect.
Plus, it fosters an unhealthy mindset of only engaging if things go exactly your way, instead of trying to play the game as a whole.

If you had played at any point where the penalties were off, you'd understand why they're a thing
18 -
Yes but they are killing themself on hook because of penalties. This is also bad design. And when survivor do this, you are losing teammate and you are not getting bot to replace them.
I did? And it was not problem at all. People was dc'ing whenever they lose. And it helped to matchmaking as well. Queues was fast.

That's more of a separate issue, but I do agree. That doesn't mean that we should remove DC penalties, it means we should be looking very critically at whether or not hook suicide should be allowed.

"this game was better when there was no penalties"
*gets flashbacks to Freddys release and the non stop dcs*
Yeah i don´t think i want to play all day against bots...
13 -
Haha. Nope.
Imagine you have a challenge or daily such as "open the exit gate", but every killer DCs as soon as the 4th or 5th gen is completed.
Do you realise that killers dont actually like playing against bots? You can play a custom game if you want to kill bots.
12 -
I'm sure Survivors would love having games where a gen gets done and the killer instant d/cs or the map loads and the killer d/cs because it's a map they don't like.
14 -
We should not be encouraging a "It's my ball and I am allowed to leave with it" attitude to DBD, at all, that's why the penalties are there
And for the record, people were not DCing just because they were losing, I played during times where the penalties were off, people were DCing because of the maps, the killer, even the goddamn offerings if a map offering got countered by a sacrificial ward
I do not want to play against bots or be on a team with bots every single game just because some baby didn't like the map we got, or the killer is someone they don't like, or their stupid offering got countered, or they went down first, or any number of pathetic reasons
DC Penalties are a good thing, if people are so weak-willed and childish that they'll reach for the DC button as soon as a match loads, they shouldn't be playing in the first place

I think at this point they should have 2 queues - one with DC penalties and one without. If you go into DC penalty queue and DC then you gotta wait out the penalty, no going to penalty free queue to wait it out.
1 -
Because this community has proven why DC penalties should be in the game. People still get their free "dc" by kermitting on first hook which to solve that would probably be better to just save the self unhook option until 3 slugs or 2 survivors left.
9 -
And just because we have dc penalties, people are killing themself on hook which creates even worse scenarios for survivors.
4 -
THIS.
It's truly baffling to me that anyone could see what the game is like when DC penalties have been turned off and then in good faith ask for them to be turned off forever.

I might sound like an ######### saying this but i believe it should be increased, For Honor had a problem with disconnecting to so players "save" their stats that no one else could see anyway. And it happened literally almost every game, after fixing problems that allowed to bypass it they upped it from 10 to 15 Minutes (possibly as a message after people started crying) and it started to drop drastically.
As a compromise i would allow players to disconnect after like 15-20 minutes so problems with people taking the game hostage or abusing strategies like 3-genning would be atleast partially adressed.

So all kinds of toxic and other reprehensible behavior is allowed in DBD but the moment people want to leave an game its suddenly an issue.
Im going to go out on a limb here and say a majority of DC's have nothing to do with being "childish and weak-willed". It's easier to post melodramatic statements than to delve into the real issues.
Never change forums.

True. 5 players who dc because of every tiny reason, every thing they don't like. What an exciting gameplay! We really need to think WHY we still need to have dc penalties.
Because it's a tragedy that baby Meg can't dc without penalty after she went down too fast :(
It's a tragedy that baby Jane can't dc without penalty every time she playing against Legion, Wesker or Nurse :(
It's a tragedy that baby Mikaela can't dc without penalty after tbing in every pallet and died anyway :(
Increase dc penalty, BHVR

As someone who gets irritated and dcs from time to time, in my opinion, the penalties are a good thing. From my experience if I dc once, and load into another game, I'm going to be more likely to dc again. There was no in between period for me to get over the last match, which leads to me becoming irritated quicker and easier.
I think the penalties are a good balance of different scenarios. If someone legit has to leave, the penalty isn't really a punishment. It will be gone when you get back. For people who consistently dc, it allows plenty of time to calm down between matches. It then grows into a punishment for doing it over and over.
The problems that cause people to want to DC are separate issues and should be brought up, or dealt with, as well.
1 -
That's not the point. When you DC you are forcing the other players to play with a bot. No one wants to do that.
2 -
Majority of DCs have never been because of other people being toxic. It's just an excuse people use to justify the fact the game didn't go exactly the way they wanted and they refuse to play out anything outside of their perfect vision of a DBD match.
8 -
Even with bots it’s a terrible idea. every time the penalty was taken away people would do as soon as they heard the nurse screech, as soon as they went down, and sometimes at first hit. I’ve seen someone dc because someone missed a skillcheck on the gen they were on.
also TCM is about 1000x more casual than DBD
6 -
So then I’m doomed to forever play against bots because of the killers I like to play? Yea sounds like a great idea.
7 -
The bots are terrible and are far worse on average than solo queue teammates. They just run around aimlessly and don't do anything 90% of the time. They can't even hit skill checks properly. They usually just keep unhooking you in lost cause games that you're trying to get out of. I'd rather take my chances with my solo queue teammates. I think it'd be fine if they lowered the maximum penalty to a few hours but they shouldn't completely remove them.

No dc penalties work in TCM because....... It's a different game with a different play style. I know it's crazy like I mean it's an asymmetrical horror game but the two aren't the same. In TCM if your team mate dcs you can still easily escape through the various methods they've made available, which I'm assuming they took into account. DBD if a surv DCs at the beginning of a match, it literally screws the rest of the team, as bots are easy af to zone and eliminate.
3 -
Just because DBD is an asymmetrical game doesn’t mean it’s some special snowflake. Basic common sense still applies.
When you play other multiplayer games, is it the norm to disconnect intentionally for whatever reason? If no, what makes DBD so special that DC-ing should be encouraged? If you ask 100 people who don’t play DBD whether DC penalties should be removed so that people can leave whenever they don’t feel like playing, how many of them do you think would support this?
DC-ing should be the minority and not the majority. Hook suicides is one thing but removing DC penalty just so people can leave whenever they don’t feel like playing is encouraging irresponsible behavior.

We need harsher penalties now, bots are there for everyone else but that doesnt make them an excuse to cherry pick games. If a player wants to bail for bs reason, fine let them, and then they can hop back in after a very long cooldown.
Players are far to entitled to be given unrestricted access to which matches get played until the end.
4 -
I mean what ive noticed in TCM is that on the victim side DCs don't matter much. I've been able to escape just fine after people dcing. Victim side feels more lonely in that game and it's more like everyone for themselfs. Family side on the other hand if someone dcs or is afk it hurts. You need team work on that side which is why i like family side more.
in DBD if 1 survivor dcs at the beginning and the killer is at least somewhat ok you won't win that game or escape. Killer DCs..well theres no game. This is why DC's don't work in DBD and penalty has to be in to prevent it from happening.
4 -
Because this community is full of weak people who DC for any reason.
I've had people DC against me while I'm playing Trapper, of all killers. They get stuck in a trap, not even near basement, and rage quit when I down them because of it.
4 -
"This game was better when I could leave with no consequence. Screw you guys, I'm going home."
Idk what wrong with people who think that they can load into a match and leave whenever they are inconvenience. The DC penalty exists because leaving a match that you agreed to play is just as bad as griefing.
3 -
Ouch, peanits slow down.... with the truth. 😜
4 -
You are not supposed to dc every time something doesn't go your way. That's why.
