Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

Dead By Daylight - Hot Topic! I'll go first.

Name 1 thing you absolutely love about this game! <3

Now…Name one thing that frustrates the heck out of you. (Be constructive for feedback purposes please, do NOT be negative)

  1. I LOVE the variety when it comes content such as chapters, perk choices on builds, new killers.
  2. I get really frustrated with bugs. VERY. Especially when they get fixed only to return. They not only take the fun out of whatever you are doing but dampen the experience.

    The music.

DBD has very thematic music, with so many terror radius, the idea of a song building up to when you're spotted and in great danger is amazing. It's a shame so many tracks were retired and some require very specific conditions to hear.

I love looping a killer the whole match and escaping after he humps me on ground for simply being the better player.

Killer mains disingenuously pretending there are "weak", low tier killers in DBD when every single killer has an average kill rate well above 50%. They have moved the goal posts so far that the S tier killer of 2016 is basically the "weakest" killer of today. There should be a new rule where you have to post the average kill rate of your killer character (official stats, Nightlight doesn't count!) before asking for a buff or nerf to survivor to help that killer. That way everyone will see that you just want easy, free wins handed to you by BHVR instead of a fair match.

Love all the different builds and playstyles you can have (even if some of them are… not great).

Hate pallet hitboxes and the jankiness around when/where you're actually able to drop them.

1: the steady stream of new content keeps the game fresh and exciting, harder to get bored of unike an mmo that comes out with a new expansion every 2 years or so.

2: the current change in how cosplays are now allowed to exist without ever adding the character in as a legendary skin. With resident evil and silent hill, characters all came out as legendary skins atleast, so you wouldnt feel like you missed out on your favorite character. They would later come with cosplays of those characters which would be fun to use in duos and stuff or if you just happen to like both characters. Now they add cosplays in bulk, with no indication of the characters themselves ever coming to the game leaving players who "reallllllly" wanted those characters, feel dissapointed for the rest of the game's lifespan.

Can we also demand for survivors to post the average kill rate of their Nurse character (official stats), when they say Nurse is super easy to play, and needs to be nerfed???

And in general, if someone says a certain killer has “zero counter play”, they should post their official stats for that killer?

Love: The variety of perks, characters, and things you can do and play as.

Hate: The fact the game's community almost ALWAYS has that one person who posts from one side, and refuses to play the other, every conversation.

This is an astonishing take; first with unnecessary "Killer mains" generalizations and then a straight sweep into demanding killrates before we listen to feedback? This is unnecessary commentary, let's not go there.

    Bless you. <3

One thing I love about this game is the SOUNDS. It really is the most immersive and delicious audiophile experience I have ever had in a video game.

(For reference, the Argus gun in Mass Effect 3 that goes WUMP WUMP WUMP is also a favorite sound.)

    Okay yes! 🙌🏼❤️

This was going to be my first choice the but the creativity of this team is mind blowing!

The sound effects are amazing!! When I hear Sadakos static, tvs, animatronic axe hitting someone 🤣

    Sound engineering is amazing!

Even in house sounds likeHoundmasters whistling. Debra told me she did them all herself! Impressive!

I love the core gameplay design of looping. PvP games don't usually appeal to me, but getting into someone's head and predicting what they'll do next is the exception to that rule which I love. DbD has no competitors because everyone who tried saw looping as a problem to "solve" rather than the reason DbD is still around.

I hate skins which are very transformative, but aren't marked as Legendaries so they don't change UI portraits. Some of the new Witcher skins are mostly the offenders here, the Yennefer/Ciri/Triss skins are so transformative that it's kinda nuts the Survivors are still using their default portraits, and it's a bit annoying to have to use that extra moment of mental energy to think "oh yeah, Ciri = Sable".

Lets be real here for a second…killer mains on social media as well as this forum are constantly asking for buffs to killer and writing doom posts about how hard killer is to play now. Yes not all, but at least a loud and vocal minority. Meanwhile, the kill rates are through the roof. So yes, to keep discussions objective, the average kill rates for a given killer character should be posted before any killer asks for a buff. If someone shows official data that a killer's kill rate (across the player base, not a personal kill rate) is below 50%, I fully support giving that killer a buff. It just so happens that since the latest official data was released, there are 0 killers on that list.

I LOVE the environments in this game, the attention to detail in the evironments especially in licensed maps is beautiful, the team do such a great job, the silent hill maps easter eggs and the cool animated props. Or the jump scares and references in the nostromo itself. The original chapters are so cool too, Greenvale Square is beautiful as is the new Ormond Mines, I really hope they keep this up. New maps are always some of the most exciting things to look forward to <3 I also love how detailed killers are, Unknowns animations are some of the coolest and intricate in the game, Xenomoprhs entrance animation, Chuckies toy like animations. They are amazing!

I find frustrating is all the visual errors in survivor cosmetics atm, like Jill and Lara's shoulders collapsing while on generators (really obvious on their bare shoulders) and male survivor fingers crossing while healing too. and the amount of dirt needlessly piled onto older cosmetics which makes them really ugly. I understand it's for the setting, but then we get the witcher cosmetics that have such a nice balance and look so clean. The survivor materials/lighting update was a big help, but I feel the animation bugs and lack there of unique ones (Last stand does not look like a kick at all, also where is the Decisive Strike change? Can we have a refined version of that please with an item in the survivors hand to stab with?)

Like the quality of Cheryl Mason vs Pyramid Head is wild to me

Also Ghoul, ew, but that's no secret.

What if whatever skin you’re using is your portrait? That would be neat.

Well, yes, survivors can post the average escape rate when complaining too. But anybody in the loop already knows this ranges from 48% (high MMR 4 stack SWF) to around 40% (solo Q + 2-3 stack SWF). So the survivor role as a whole warrants a huge buff, namely for solo Q, which should be addressed with anti-tunneling/slugging/camping and MMR measures in Stage 2 quality of life update. If any killer's average player-base wide kill rate falls below 50% kill rate as a result of Stage 2 update, then they deserve a buff to bring them in line with the other killers.

Whereas every killer character has a unique average kill rate, survivors only have a single average escape rate. Now, I am not asking for killer mains' personal kill rates. That is irrelevant when it comes to balancing because that specific killer player might just be better or worse than average. I am saying they should post the average kill rate for that character across the entire player base, which gives an objective overview of how deadly that killer is independent of player skill. This will reduce the noisy complaints from below average killer players that don't want to actually learn how to play killer, but just want easy mode at the expense of fair matches for the opponent.

Nurse at high MMR was recently shown to have nearly a 70% kill rate, which is extremely high. Of course, given that she requires a few more hours practice to get decent results with compared to other killers, her kill rate is lower across all MMR, since most killer mains want easy 4Ks out of the box with as little effort as possible. The last time I saw an official breakdown of per-killer kill rates in 2024, her kill rate across all MMR was 55%, which is well above the 50% fair balance target. Now, Nurse is a case of a killer like Ghoul, that is completely broken and needs a serious rework to give her more viable counter play than just running behind a wall and praying she both sucks and doesn't have wall hack perks, but also to have her kill rate be closer to 50% at both low and high MMR. Well-designed killers should be accessible to new players but difficult to master, just like survivor role. It is time to make Dead by Daylight great again.

if i get tired of a killer i have a myrad of other killers to choose from

survivors are really strong and the only reason they lose is because they don't do gens which means the game is dictated on survivors throwing

I love the special moments. like having a survivor or GF put their head through the cardboard cutouts on the carnival. or purchasing pop from an RPD vending machine and depositing it for the killer to drink.

what I can't stand are some of the noises in this game. things like being knife spammed on hook by Trickster or Blighted Nemesis lobby sounds (why he eating an apple?)

  • Coffeecrashing
    Coffeecrashing Member Posts: 5,667

BHVR said multiple times that the game is balanced around a 60% kill rate and 40% escape rate.

Therefore, survivors having a 40% escape rate, means survivors DON’T need major buffs, because they are literally at the target escape rate.

  • jedimaster505
    jedimaster505 Member Posts: 287

This is an appeal to authority fallacy. Just because the devs think the game should be easier for killers, doesn't mean this actually makes for the most engaging gameplay. To the contrary, a 50% kill/escape rate is the perfect ratio of challenge to reward, which induces the flow state, which is what makes games fun to play in the first place. Players play games to have fun, so making the game braindead easy for one side just leads to unengaging and boring gameplay for killers, and frustrating gameplay for survivors, as well as a rage quit epidemic that has only received band-aid fixes.

So, instead of listening to the people that literally create the game, I should listen to someone that uses words like “brain dead easy” in their arguments? And I’m supposed to pretend that statement isn’t over-exaggerating at all?
