[Ghost Face] DBDs Version vs. Screams Version
This post is going to be shorter than what I usually make since this post is entirely just the community's opinions thrown back and forth on these two outfits.
My question is, does it really matter if DBD uses their version of Ghost Faces (The Ghosts) robes over Screams original version? Because they look exactly the same except one is black and grey with literally 100x more detail while Screams version is just a flat jet black pair of robes.
I know people always want developers to stay true to the film when it comes to these things but does it honestly matter to any of you?
Cause to me, this is one of those cases where it was good that a license messed up a original take on a characters outfit, it gave them the creative freedom to actually design him in a more "intimate" way.

dbd version is unquestionably cooler looking. Identical face mask but the outfit is super l33t
I'm wondering if the ghost face mask itself is copy righted to the film or not because scream used a commonly used halloween mask as a meme for the film. One which cant be copyrighted by the film creators.
Now I'm wondering if they've used that loop hole to make their own version so they didn't have to pay them for the rights to use it?

If so it was a smart move on BHVRs part which gave them the creative freedom to give Ghost Face their own spin. It was a better move to do than go through the whole licencing issue they would have to face getting his original clothes.
And the result was better than doing that anyways.

@FireHazard The fact they've called it "The Ghost" and not the official Scream name [ "Ghost Face" ] hints towards the -potential- of this Killer being purchasable in game with the earned in game currency, Iridescent Shards rather than Steam Ca$h?

That could just be a placeholder or how they name the killer like how Micheal Myers is called "The Shape" in the movie and in DBD, or how Amanda from Jigsaw is nicknamed "The Pig" but who knows, I doubt it though.

Honestly, I like this version better. The slightly floating arm wraps give this killer that Ghost like look that you'd otherwise not get if they used the black robes.
The alternate outfit also hilariously looks like the Wraith's own get up. All I know is, I might main the Ghost if the power is at least decent.

From what i'm seeing its similar to Myers except it has its own unique spin on it from the movies and how he kills his victims.
So I can't wait to P3-50 him a few days after his release.

I'm doing a killer P3-50 thing anyways, I'm finishing Pig and haven't decided on my next yet.
With pig almost done that'll make 6 P3-50 killers and the rest of my killers are just level 50, so if Ghost Face comes earlier than I think I might go half on Plague than cut her off to do Ghost Face when he comes out.

The reason that they changed the character so much is because they only got the license to the mask, which is why he is most likely going to be a paragraph :(
They might have got the license to Sidney, but it's very unlikely.

And his new outfit is better than just a plain jet black robe, but some will disagree.

I don't mind the new outfit but I would prefer it to be full dark than this gray looking thing.
They should create a full black version of this.

Well if they do i'm sure the license would be on their ass for it, hence why they went with this.
I prefer this one because you can see detail in this outfit rather than just a plain robe.

Maybe @Peanits can shed some light on why his outfit is so different from his original attire, i'd imagine I already know (Copyright issues.) but i'd also like to know their thought process behind what they were going for with his new outfit and if they even like what they made for him

I VASTLY prefer the original movie robe. I wish they could implement a black version of the DBD version, but at least there's also the devil outfit. Speaking of which, check out this 4k mod a Reddit user made to it. He gave it the original mask, AND darkened out the red mark. From what I've heard, you"ll be able to change the mask and mark color in game. But who knows, maybe they'll get the rights to add the movie robe .

Exactly ! I've said before that I feel like the leaked stuff could very well be from an older build, BEFORE the movie robe, map and survivor were added.

They should use their own outfit but make it full black instead of this gray version of it.
Think about clown's black version of his own outfit. Something like that.

Well the issue is they could easily say that idea was stolen from Screams movie, since if they did that the outfits would be too similar in nature.
Idk how the whole concept of Copyright laws work, but I can imagine them going after BHVR because of the outfit being too similar to theirs if it was all black like the movies.

If they made it black I don't think it would matter, it doesn't look anything like the original robe
Maybe they can put a bit of color to make it different but without ruining his stealth

I love the work and detail they put into The Ghost's outfit. He looks much cooler than the movies Dollar Tree outfit :x

As I thought, that's unfortunate but I 100% understand the teams position on this matter.

The only thing I don't like about The Ghosts outfit is the floating streams of fabric. If he's supposed to be peaking from corners those things are a dead giveaway. Hopefully he'll have a dark mask and a body without those streams so he can be actually sneaky.

@Bongbingbing From the leaks it doesn't look like those fabrics actually give him away too much. I think it's a nice touch. Might be just me though (not really)

They are meant to mimic the cloth strips from the movie robe, so nice touch indeed ;)

They actually do move when you crouch from what I saw in the game play footage, don't know how it'll do in the finale release though.

I wish they stayed true to the license with Scream and Ghostface just like they did with Michael and Halloween. Michael even had his theme and chase music, it was perfect. Scream was my favorite slasher movie ever. But I guess I'll try to accept this new outfit and non-Scream version Ghostface even though I'm sad about it. Beggars can't be choosers I guess.

Every killer on the character select screen goes by “The ....” It’s just their design. If you read the character bios they mention their actual names.

No I know that, perhaps I should of been more clear on that one. They got the name from the movie, The shape was a thing before DBD was even thought of.

Leatherface is called The Cannibal, Freddy is called The Nightmare, Amanda is called The Pig, Micheal Myers is called The shape.
It's not like they'll call Ghost Face "Ghost Face".
They will call him The Ghost, that's it.
He is licensed so he will cost money.

The probable reason is that the Devs couldn't get the rights from the Scream creators. The mask is licensed by the company that designed it and isn't owned by the creators of Scream. The studio owns all the characters and the clothing itself, just not the mask. So what this likely means is that we aren't going to get a survivor, or at least not one from the Scream universe.
