Repeated tunneling and harassment
Is it against the rules to target a specific player every time they're in a match? I don't just mean tunneling for a single game, but repeated tunneling every time they encounter that person specifically to harass them.

They're playing the game, no rules against it

u might have done something offensive to get tunneled that hard?
4 -
why you shouldn't make enemies in dbd karma might come your way and you get tunneled for it.
3 -
What were you doing? I find it hard to believe somebody would have that much of a vendetta against you unless you were acting like a toxic little #########. (Not saying you were for sure)
4 -
I have no idea, I wish I knew so I could avoid it.
2 -
It is actually against the rules.
If someone is repeatedly only tunneling you throughout the course of a lot of games, then it is reportable.
8 -
Yes it is against the rules one or two matches of being told isn't bad but if they repeatedly go after you throughout multiple matches it is against rules.
3 -
If repeated (a lot), and there's clearly no reasonable advantage to gain for the one doing the tunneling, it is griefing, and it is theoretically bannable. However, I imagine you'd have to present abundant evidence, otherwise noone can decide if you're actually being griefed, or you're just some oversensitive player who can't handle losses emotionally.
I trust you record all your games and catalogue your recordings?
2 -
I don't see the issue. I keep a mental list of people that were toxic in game or in after chat and I make sure they are dead in any future game I see them. Karma comes around, especially at high ranks where it's a small pool of people.

The Terms of Service some are referencing is this:
"Targeting specific users repeatedly in order to ruin their game experience"
However my key take away is "in order to ruin their game experience" as this is highly subjective.
If they were toxic in a previous match I am trying to kill them as fast as possible to limit that amount of toxicity coming to me so I am better able to focus on the rest. That is strategic, not the intent to ruin their game experience. Similar to how they describe tbagging and flashlight flicking, it is distracting the killer and getting him unfocused on priorities.
3 -
You can't determine if they're trying to ruin the experience or play the game, you could play the game once, get one kill and you could say that one kill has ruined their experience, there is no exact determination if they've ruined the game or not.
2 -
Tunneling is a legitimate strategy quit taking everything so personally.
5 -
Exactly, that's my point. It's not something you could truly determine.
1 -
If they're targetting one single person over the course of multiple matches, it would be considered targeted harassment and would be reportable. This does not mean "This guy tunnels every match", but rather, "Every time I play against this guy, he tunnels me and only me and then lets the rest of the survivors escape." (Or something along those lines.)
Again, you need to have proof that you're getting intentionally singled out over the course of multiple games.
26 -
Ah so the determining factor would be if you're treating that one individual different than everyone else on the team? IE tunneling ONLY him repeatedly.
2 -
If someone is a strong player, and I know this, I'll make sure they die asap every game I encounter them.
It's 100% legitimate to do so.
3 -
It's definitely not that, I'm not that good lol

Thank you for the clarification for us.
3 -
It's almost impossible to prove. How often are you running up against the same killer anyway?
2 -
a lot at R1 actually.

But what if they target you until you are dead and then just play the rest of the game normally, no farming. They just see you and come right for you, play like they would throw the game just to kill you, then if the others just happened to not do anything to escape they go back and play normally?
Also anyone that saying stuff like "you deserve it because you were toxic" or anything like that I hope gets banned themselves in the future.

I mean like they always go for you first, or break chases they could win just to go for you, and then there are games they literally throw just to kill you. Like they go out of their way to get YOU, and they are willing to lose for it, only sometimes they don't lose because the other survivors just didn't do anything.
1 -
So what? As long as they aren't going after you and farming with the others it's fine.
persecution complexes are so 2017 dude.
2 -
I'm having the same thing happen to me (I didn't do anything to this person), @Perelie. Just try not to worry about it and they'll probably get bored eventually. I actually feel sorry for people like that... They must have a sad life.
2 -
I see now why you get tunnelled xD got a mouth on you when someone says something you don't like. Have fun getting tunnelled, Bud.
1 -
Sooooo because I will call BS on you for targeting me I'm the bad guy? Right. You are a saint if you tunnel someone that crouches in your vicinity or uses DS/MOM or a FL. Sure.
I can tell the difference between tunneling and targeted harassment. I actually have a killer that targets SPECIFICALLY ME every game, unless I'm playing with certain people then he targets them because he likes them less then he does me. This guy will throw games and hard tunnel these players out of the game, face camp them, mori spam, the works. And if you somehow get away he DC's so you can't actually escape. It is 100% targeted harassment and I've actually reported him through the report form. I was told I need some video evidence, which sadly since filing the report I have not had him as my killer. When I do I will gladly stream the match so people can see what targeted harassment looks like, then I will send it to BHVR and this guy will get banned. I think though that someone at BHVR reached out to him about it and now he just dodges me.

Explain to me how it's fine to purposely throw a game to ruin a specific players experience over and over, only sometimes the other survivors are potatoes and don't do gens so you get to harass someone AND play a normal game after.
No you target someone you target them. It shouldn't matter what happens after the fact. If they go for you and ONLY YOU because you are you and not because it's tactical or bad luck, then it's targeted harassment. Farming with the other players shouldn't be a requirement, because then anyone can just say "hey I was playing the game". I've been targeted by a specific player every time I'm in his game, he will drop chases across the map to return to the hook to kill me, or face camp me, or tunnel me off hook and mori spam me. He is doing it to harass me. If he went after someone else when I was in his game and killed them first, then I can say he is just playing the game, but he doesn't. He goes right for me every time. Multiple games. He does it to my friends too who get it worse than I do (almost always a mori spam). He's not "just playing the game" at this point he is targeting players to ruin their games.
3 -
This is the exact same thing that is happening to me.
1 -
Dude this reads like paranoid delusions lol
Coincidentally you just haven't seen him since you were asked for proof
1 -
Yea and people here will defend this behavior! Like it's very obvious when someone is targeting you and when they are just a tunnely/campy killer. If they are a tunnely/campy they will do it to everyone. If they are targeting you they do stuff like break a chase clear across the map to come after you, or will do something that will cost them the game just to get you, game after game. It's very obvious and blatant.
2 -
Yes i absolutely believe that this level of persecution is happening. Are black helicopters following you too?
1 -
What system do you play on, @thesuicidefox?
0 -
Ignore the naysayers and report the harassers. It's the same when killers complain about survivors being toxic in the post-game chat.
1 -
Yea because like I said someone from BHVR probably reached out to him, which he then denied, so they said I need video proof. Now he dodges me.
This isn't paranoid delusions. I run into this guy CONSTANTLY as do my friends. He does target us. We all play surv and killer at red/purple ranks too, so it's not like we don't know when a killer is just doing killer things. No this dude HARASSES US. The fact you refuse to believe it suggests that you are probably the same kind of person he is.
Xbox.
2 -
I play on Xbox too. I'm wondering if it's the same person... 🤔

GT begins with an H.
0 -
CONSTANTLY, except when asked for proof.
0 -
Because I don't record or stream my games. I have an El Gato but it's been disconnected for months. Now I have a stream set up and I stream sometimes, so the next time he is my killer you will get your proof.
1 -
Keep me posted, I can't wait.
0 -
Why would he make it up? I'm having the same thing happen to me. What is your problem?
3 -
LOL
0 -
Hopefully it's not. The killer should always have the choice to do whatever he wants (besides exploits etc).
U should never get banned for tunneling someone. It's a stupid rule.
1 -
Very simple. If I know you to be a very good survivor by past interactions, I'm going to try to take you out first. Nothing Personal.
1 -
It must be a different person. The guy that I'm talking about has a GT that starts with a different letter.
0 -
Maybe you are the easiest survivor to catch in every match you play. Do something about that ;-)
1 -
@HavelmomDaS1 This is me assuming that the op was not toxic in the killer's prior games. The killer should usually have a choice on what they do in a match, but then we get outcasted for it.
Playing the Devil's advocate here, survivors should also be allowed to do as they wish in a match. Neither side exists for the other's pleasure.
