"DC" icon- Can it get changed?
This is for the developers @Peanits @Patricia
The "DC" icon. There are players that are familiar with who disconnects on purpose versus who gets disconnected from matches unintentionally.
It's been a thought of mine for a long time but can the icon for disconnects slightly change so that players can understand the difference from an intentional "DC" or not more clearly? Currently the icon for all disconnects displays a plug with a red 'X'. Can the 'X' stay red for intentional disconnects and green for unintentional?
What do other players think about this?

I would love it, except it maybe to complex to implement due to how infinite loading screens are, games crashing, etc, we would need to wait for dedicated servers to add this as it would make it easier to implement as you can tell the difference between an intentional and nonintentional DC.

The game doesn't do a good job of actually being able to monitor what type of disconnect happens. Part of that is due to the nature of p2p matchmaking and part of that is due to the fact the game isn't actually in a stable state. It would be pretty hard to decipher what icon needs to be used based solely on the info the game can use currently.

It should be at least easy to make a different icon for those who pressed "leave game"

Then hopefully dedicated servers can help bring this in as a QOL measure.

As far as I understand the issue, the leave button simply disconnects you from the host.
On the h host's end it just register a DC, but not why.
Yes you could program it, that when you click on the leave button a package would be send and inform the host of the nature of the DC.
But I think they spare it for the dedicated servers.
@Peanits correct me please if I am wrong.

We could definitely tell the difference. The issue is more about why you'd need to and what you gain from it. At the end of the day, that person is out of the game. Whether it was intentional or unintentional, they're not in the game anymore. Knowing if they're doing it intentionally is not going to change that. Ultimately if the intentional (clicking the leave game button) DC is treated differently, someone could always disconnect their internet to make it seem like an actual DC.

This is already sort of in the game, but not visually I think.
Pretty sure if the DC sound plays that means they pressed leave game, if they just silently drop dead that means a "legitimate" (in quotes as they could've pulled the plug or alt+F4d on purpose) loss of connection.
Do correct me if I'm wrong though 😄

You would know if someone DCed to give hatch, DCed out of rage, map, killer. This would change how I play and how I would treat the rest of survivors.
Would also give an overall picture about how common that DC bug is atm.

To what end exactly? That seems to serve no purpose. It's usually pretty obvious if someone intentionally DC's anyway because they just got downed or you are having some interaction with that player that they view unfavorably. If you aren't even near a survivor and they DC (and they aren't on hook or slugged) then it is most likely unintentional.
So you already should be able to tell an intentional vs unintentional DC to begin with. What difference would a different icon make? So you can screenshot and shame someone later? So you can know who has properly earned your righteous indignation? Just get over it and move onto the next game like everyone else.

When I'm playing killer, if someone disconnects early in the game, doesn't matter why, I just leave. I don't want to do a 3v1 but with 5 gens.
If they disconnect late in the game, then it doesn't make much of a difference.
That's just me, though. Anyway, I agree with @Sairek: all it would do is have players use other methods than the "Leave" button to disconnect.

Calm down there, buddy.
This post is mainly aimed at QOL measures, not to shame, ridicule, or anything else you're assuming.
What I'm saying is that the icons should be slightly different. The "sacrifice or killed" noise plays when someone intentionally DCs and is silent when they unintentionally get DC'd. What if someone didn't hear the noise or not?
I was only suggesting that the icon 'X' icon should be red for intentional and green if not intentional.
