Can a Clown main explain?
So there was that guy who told me he'd consistently 4k vs "optimal red rank SWF teams" using Clown and the clown's "strongest build" which -according to him- consists of:
- I'm all ears
- Fire Up
- BBQ
- Discordance
I said this "build" does not:
- slow down gen progression
- help in a chase
- synergize with the Clown's power (well... Perhaps fire up at 2 remaining gens helps a bit catch up to people more quickly using a bottle before breaking a pallet but wouldn't Brutal Strength do a better job in that regard?...)
He insisted the build DOES synergize with the Clown's power and I'd just not understand how so here I am asking all the Clown mains out there:
Did that guy troll me or is that truly "the strongest Clown" build? If so, how?

Im all ears is abit underrated, especially anytime you manage to lose LOS on a survivor after they vault a window. It opens up an opportunity to cut them off since youll be able to tell which way they're going, and when they're about to get around a corner. That being said, I dont see any particular synergy with Clown in particular.
One might want to use Fire up over Brutal strength if theyre also looking at the vaulting speed benifit, however... If this person wanted to cut down the abuse of a particular window, bamboozle would be more benificial. I do see the benifit of being able to break an overly safe pallet though after slowing a survivor down with a bottle. They'd start running after you start breaking, so the added break speed would cut down on the chance of them reaching another pallet.
BBQ and discordance are overlapping roles, with discordance tackling tracking at the beginning of the game and BBQ handling it later on once survivors split up more or begin dying out.
All in all...this person might believe they have something good, but Im not seeing it.

That guy probably killed a overly altruistic SWF team with that build and now he thinks that this build is so OP and Clown is actually a strong killer. I'm telling you, that's not the case. We have a useless perk ( Fire Up ), a overrated perk ( Discordance ) and 2 tracking perks ( BBQ and I'm All Ears ). Any of these perks slows the game, which is Clown's ( and all killers for that matter ) biggest problem, so against a good SWF team ( or just a good group of survivors ), I don't see him getting more than 2 hooks with that build.

Seems like a troll. Discordance just shows M1 killers which gen is about to pop before you can get there. Fire Up is great for when you wamt Brutal Strength or Bamboozle long after they would have actually helped. I'm All Ears could be useful though.

Not a Clown main obviously, but the only times I've had (moderate) success with him playing against capable opponents were those when I used the Mean Chase Machine build:
Brutal strength, Enduring, Spirit Fury, Bamboozle.
Exhaustion and + 1 bottle addons.
No one is getting away with that. No one near you, I mean.

My friends a clown main and she does ok.
The problem with people who specifically main a certain killer is the fact they know the limits to that specific killer better then someone who just uses them occasionally. The logic they use is not of our own. I dont mean the people who play 3 or 4 different killers and main them all. I mean the ones who specifically play that one over and over until they could 4k perkless and addonless.
Either way that build has too many inconsistencies to be good.

The best clown I have seen so far (pro vengeance) uses pop, ruin, fire up, and brutal strength most of the time. The pallets get shredded once a few gens are done. Ruin and pop are probably the best slowdown perks in the game, and then fire up brutal helps with clowns main weakness (safe pallets).
I don't understand the people who think clown is weak, he is a very strong killer.
I'd also be wary of anyone who says a build is "optimal" without something like ruin or at least corrupt intervention. It is basically required on any killer who is not nurse or spirit. A good red rank SWF will absolutely melt your gens without it, and probably with it honestly. Against a super good team (multiple rank 1 survivors) I have been running blood warden as of late, since they will basically never leave thier friends and you can try to bait multiple kills at the endgame collapse if they stay too long. You will probably have to open the exit gate yourself though.

I used to be a clown main, before I hated his guts, but I have to say this build is not the greatest

Clown main i told you experimented to obtimized SwF destroy clown they even manage to destroy good billy depending on maps.
Clown have a weak base kit and so a bad power that do not even excel on chase which is why the power is made.
Best add-ons combo possible : Flask of bleach- Ether 15 vol% he reduce movement speed by an additionnal 5% and intoxication effect last an additionnal one second when outside the bottle area.
As for perks i think i'm all ears is a great perk but is cooldown way too long, Fire Up is underrated but is useful on chase because he increase vault speed and pallet breaking speed, BBQ well no need to explain and discordance counter gen rush a bit but on clown i think it's a bad perk.

Who is pro vengeance? I tried looking for for him for some gameplay but couldn't find any.
That build sounds interesting, does he still use that build?

Honestly I dont really understand why so many clown mains use Brutal strength. I usually use STBFL, BBQ AND CHILI, RUIN , AND POP

I consistently play well with this clown build
Bbq
Pop
Ruin
NOED
I close chases relatively quickly, I usually try to fake breaking and vaulting to get a positional advantage, as well as throw bottles where I think the best route is

at red ranks, and what platform and pics or it didnt happen(showing your rank, their rank, and everymatch in btw).

I prefer Enduring on Clown over Brutal, Clown's power slows people down so it benefits him more to swing through pallets since he has more of a chance to get that hit, hence Enduring saving you time if you miss.
I don't have STBFL on him yet but that looks like a good build, I personally would switch out Ruin for Devour Hope for late game pressure as Pop is the more consistent Gen protector perk in that combo.
My ideal build on Clown is Enduring, Thanatophobia, Pop, & STBFL. This covers all bases except the end game, Enduring for chases, Thana for map pressure, Pop for Gen pressure, and STBFL to add some extra lethality which is just good all around. I don't have most of the perks though, Bloodweb hasn't been kind to me lol

Regardless, I have no obligation to prove anything to you. If it works for me it works for me
