Can Someone Confirm This About the Luck mechanic?
For a very long time now, I've always used a luck setup when I play survivor (Up The Ante, Ace in the Hole, Slippery Meat, and Plunderer's Instinct). I just saw on the wiki page that luck "does not affect the rarity of an item found in a chest". I just have this feeling that someone might have made a mistake on that page about luck and I am genuinely curious regarding if the luck bonus from Up The Ante stacks with Plunderer's Instinct or not. I would prefer if someone who absolutely knows what the answer is to confirm whether they stack or not.

It does not.
Luck as far as I know (as seen devs mention, and noticed 0 other effects in game) only increases %chance to self unhook and bear trap eacapes.

Luck only affects two things currently:
1) The chances of self-unhooking without Deliverance
2) The chances of self-escaping The Trapper's Bear Trap.
13 -
The devs have confirmed that luck only affects what @TAG listed.

Thanks for the help @Carpemortum @TAG @brokedownpalace

It seems like such a waste of a mechanic. The purpose of luck should be expanded.

But the DBD Wiki said that UP the ante do affect the Rarity of Items found in Chests

It does not. Up the Ante only affects luck, and luck currently only affects the two things I mentioned.

It doesn't say that, at all. It says it's debatable and that based on how the Luck mechanic works, it shouldn't.
1 -
Nope. Only increases your chance to kobe or escape bear traps.
It also caps at 48%. So if everyone has Up The Ante using luck offerings is pointless.
4 -
It has a cap? Learn something new every day...

This necro though...
What's up with all the necros? Is it a hint? Are we getting a zombie as the next killer??
1 -
Yepper doo.
4 instances of UTA hits the cap. Salty Lips gives +3% so if everyone offers it then 1 person can forgo UTA.
Fog also caps at purple fog. So if you offer purple fog then anyone offering any more fog is a waste. The only exception is if someone offers clear fog, as now the extra thick fog offerings will cancel it out. IIRC purple fog is equal to 2 yellow fogs is equal to 4 brown fogs. Clear fog is equal but opposite to yellow fog.

Well. Luck is apparently even more useless than I thought.. I really thought I got better items from chests when luck was increased though.. maybe psychological effect or I ignore chests mostly when no luck is involved..
they really should expand on it! And it seems really unfair for trapper be the only killer affected by survivor luck..

Pardon me... isn't that trivia said that? Or the trivia is wrong, it's edit by Oct.

I thought so too before I read that Wiki, just don't know who is right, Wiki said that it according to the devs, uh...

I'm a bit curious about that math. I thought that even there are 4 instances of UTA, the totally bonus is 36% (4×9%, it's 9% because you can't get the bonus of yourself ), isn't it?
If there also have 4 salty lips, then add 12%(4×3%) bonus, so it finally comes to 48% of bonus, right? But Where is the basic luck bonus(4%)?
0 -
I'm not sure actually. The card does say "other survivors" so maybe it's only 36% since it wouldn't count yourself. That would just mean you need 4 survivors with UTA and Salty Lips to hit the cap.

The wiki is not official; only community-run. It is possible for it to have incorrect information. The devs have repeatedly stated how luck works. Up the Ante does not interact with chests in any way.

😂, that is really troublesome. damn UTA.

Well keys are already appearing easily on chest killers wouldnt like every survivor have one 😂

OK, roger that.

Consider 4% luck mean when you get trapped, the longest escape is 100% / 4% = 15 attempts.
Up the ante add 3% to each alive Survivor, which is each has +9% (not 12% since the alive Survivor gives 3% to other 3 Survivors, you only have 3 other Survivors to give you 3% each). If all 4 Survivors have this perk, they will have 27% for a total of 31% with base luck. (not counting luck offerings)
Its confirm every Survivor able to self-unhook if you have 34% luck.
Still not worth to lose 4 perk slots.

😂Are you serious dude? There maybe some problems with your math......
It is hard to understand how you calculated them, you know, 100/4=25......

Oops..

The wiki is official. It's officially endorsed by the developers and the owner (a good friend of mine) is in contact with them.
The 48% thing on the wiki refers to the maximum amount of luck you can get right now, using what's available (Up The Ante and offerings), and not a hard cap. Unless the wiki explicitly uses the word "cap", assume there is none.
That's not how probability works.

When I say that it's not official, I mean that it's not actually maintained by the developers themselves.
3 -
Say that, then, because the wiki is official by the common definition of the term.
1 -
Multiple community managers have said that the wiki is not official. It is not. Stop spreading this misinformation please.
Just because someone there likes to twist the definition of official to meet his needs doesn't mean the rest of us have to change reality to follow along
5 -
As far as I'm aware, that is the common definition. :P

Alright then.

That is kinda odd that it didnt tho, I remember back in 2017 that a dev in stream said that Up The Ante was unique in affecting chests. Was that maybe in combination with Ace In The Hole? It would be weird for a dev to have stated that Up The Ante did affect chests when it never did.

The only thing I noticed is that when somebody brought the luck offering I was able to wiggle out before the bar was full.

The killer probably tried to drop you.
1 -
Nope. In my 2k hours it only ever happened when there was purple luck offering
