Re: Experience of new killers?
I think the killer role could be made a ton more accessible and less stressful for newer players with just a few small tweaks to chat and gate-opened endgame scenarios. Like sure, people might still tbag sometimes in matches but then you have the choice to chase them or drop chase, frustrating as it might be.
First of all it'd be nice to see who is and who isn't in chat on the scoreboard, for example to know if someone is playing on Epic games or on Console if you're on Steam for example. But if they don't have post game chat you'd see a little "no chat" icon. Second, it would be great to be able to disable chat yourself and turn it off completely in the options just like console has it. I either skip postgame or just say gg and leave 99% of the time, and most matches are indeed silence, especially when I win. Being able to abandon as killer (but leave behind an afk bot that stands still to not mess with challenges) once gates are open and all survivors are healthy or injured would be nice if survivors are waiting or bagging at gates and the game is decided, kind of like survivors being able to abandon when everyone's slugged or hooked and the game is otherwise decided.
And just so we're not only pushing less interaction, it'd also be nice to be able to say "gg" if you had a fun match without using chat, so how about this? A little GG button you can press near your own name plate on the scoreboard. You press it, and it will say "GG" on the scoreboard with a little animation so even cross platform, you can get a little positive interaction in the post game and express that you enjoyed the match. And you could still use it if you had no chat or chat disabled. To top it off, what if the killer saying "gg" gave all four survivors 5k bp each, just a little thanks for the good game? And each survivor that says "gg" gives the killer 5k bps each as well? Just a small thing to encourage some positivity without the need for chat at all.
Other than that, I think matchmaking plays a huge part in why the new player experience is awful, as well as how MMR is calculated but that's another huge topic for another day. Short answer, they really need to remove lobbies if they want better and more consistent matchmaking, as well as start to measure MMR gain and loss on a team basis based on how many survivors escaped or survived, gens progressed, potentially hook states. Not just individually track for each survivor if they escaped or died. Maybe we'll get some news on this at some point this year since they claim to be looking at improving MMR but I'm not very hopeful they'll improve this in any sensible way tbh. BHVR just seems a little out of touch these days with this stuff.
I don't personally get much BM in my matches but I also find that many of my matches I'm either going against players way worse or way better than me. It's awkward and in matches where survivors get rolled they're more likely to just move on without saying anything, no point in waiting for the team to finish. I guess that's why I often get more BM when I'm struggling or losing a match, which is just rubbing salt in the wound and definitely tracks with how a beginner might get more BM than someone that simply has more experience and wins more.
Re: Experience of new killers?
Ive been playing since myers came to the game, and got my friend into the game around the time Sadako released. She mostly enjoyed playing survivor as feng min, and was pretty bad at the game but still had fun, since i was there to "help". Her favorite killer is trickster, and at some point i convinced her to play as killer to do the other side of the challenges n stuff. She started with stuff like wraith, pig, dredge. And was actually enjoying them but was scared to play due to the pressure of having to outplay 4 people at once. So id always have to convince her to play killer, shed never do it while im not on. She did enjoy most of her rounds but did also get lots of bming, disconnecting etc, and ultimately just refuses to play killer unless its 2v8, because once again im there to "help". She realllly likes trickster but will not play killer.
Ive gotten used to the bming over the years, its just expected. But ive had the same funny steam name for over 13 years, and those bmers have discovered an all new way to attack you and thats through your profile on steam. They went as far as to report my name which everyone else found funny, and it got banned for once. It was then that i finally saw the appeal of anonymous mode, you become untraceable, they cant go to your profile and attack you, and lastly apperently you can also turn off the end game chat (im not sure where the button is, havent tried it myself) and those 2 this combined would give you a bm free experience in end game lobbies, as for in game its just a matter of not paying attention to them when they try real hard for your attention, they are wasting time following you instead of doing gens so picture you get to drag one of their team around on a leash and they don't even realise it lol
Toxicity Is Out Of Control And It Chases Away New Players
I've been playing this game for 5 years. And I played "toxic" games longer like League of Legends and Rust. But none of them allow toxicity to this extend. Sure they don't allow bad word in the chat after end game but thats not a way to stop them. They will tell people to kill themselves, ######### their mothers and many other awful words in steam comments section. Some even DDOS attack, Twitch "streamers" literally ask their viewers to comment bomb someones profile. I'm used to these types of people, u delete them, block them and most of the times they go away. But there are new players bullied off of the game more than people realise. I have more than 20 friends who love horror genre but when I ask them to play DBD they just refuse because of how unfriendly the community is. Killers get bullied, flashlighted, stunned by a group of survivors that leave 1 gen unfinished for hours, survivors slugged, humped by killers and survivors body blocking the Survivor, refusing to do gens and hide all game (because they got mad at the killer/survivor) literally not saving their teammates because they don't like their skin or they want their item. Reporting them via support (because they don't look at the in-game reporting) takes a year and a half day, and even if they are banned it is literally only 1 or 3 days without even a single chat ban. I don't even remember the last time I had a game where someone wasn't toxic. BHVR NEEDS to do something about them. Maybe an easier report system maybe a more grounded punishment but something needs to be done.
Re: Let killer Surrender when the last generator is done.
They do, it's called opening the exit gate. The survivors have to leave or they will die when the counter runs out.
Re: is there a way to somehow make your que time shorter for 2v8
Presuming you are on the same server as your friend, could just be differing MMRs. While MMR is much looser, they say it still exists, so maybe he's at a killer MMR where more killers are needed.
Re: is there a way to somehow make your que time shorter for 2v8
To forbid queuing with friends, only allow queuing with randoms. So that social networkers and hiveminders stick to their SWFs, and leave the killer role to the lone thinkers and individualistic minds to whom it has always belonged. Right now those ex-SWF survivors are the main reason of the overcrowded killer queue, we need to send them back.
Re: Experience of new killers?
I have to admit that I have never ever got someone try to friend request me for just wanting to bad mouth me. Still I don't accept friend request from random accounts that I have no connection to. I have seen all kind of things in the long years of playing different online games and I would still state the toxicity on this game has not really been anyway more than any other game I have ever played. There is always people who will whine about something as that is a fact or if they get upset of something try to insult or blame someone else of it.
My end game chat is usually totally empty. Sometimes you get the rare gg usually from killer players who say it anyway even if the game was not "good game". I would even go to say that positive interactions are more common than toxic ones and those are usually people claiming I tunneled them when I never hooked them twice in a row and find them on the totally different area than they were hooked before and there is nobody else there or something similar. Then there is of course the know it all survivor players who think they know all that happened in the match when in reality they have no clue what really was going on.
Re: This is exciting!! Tricksters rework
I have not been paying attention to this and didn't know. I would love it if Trickster got reworked into something easier for me to play. I like his cosmetics but I cannot aim the knives. :(
Re: Killswitch Wesker in 2v8
Checked it works fine and the post is still up apparently twitter was down for some yesterday. Refreshed the link just in case
Re: 2v8 zombies 1 too many
Thought it was just me.
I'm sure there's an element of negativity bias but I feel like I'm playing around the zombies more than both killers put together whenever Nemesis is out and about.
I don't think it's particularly overpowered, though. It's just annoying.
In 1v4 sometimes I forget there are even zombies in the map. Difference is stark.
