How do survivors escape if the generators haven't been finished or the hatch isn't open?

    They can use a key item to open the hatch. The hatch spawns when the number of repaired generators is greater than the number of living survivors.

    Since when did the survivors have to escape? If you end up in that situation, accept your fate.

    Actually if the hatch is closed they can open the gates. But other than that is see no other way

    I was the killer. I had sacrificed two survivors and hooked the 3rd. There were still two generators left and the last survivor escaped somehow.

    This is how the hatch spawn works for how many Survivors and generators are done within the trial during a match.

    • 4 Survivors remaining: 5 repaired Generators / Exit Gates are powered
    • 3 Survivors remaining: 4 repaired Generators / 1 Generator left
    • 2 Survivors remaining: 3 repaired Generators / 2 Generators left
    • 1 Survivor remaining: Spawns and opens regardless of how many generators remain.

    From what you said, you killed two Survivors, than you hooked a 3rd while 2 generators were left.

    So... this correlates with the 3rd point above "2 Survivors remaining: 3 repaired Generators / 2 Generators left." So this lines up exactly with what you said, there was 2 Survivors left, 2 generators left, and since there is 5 generators in total and 3 of them repaired... than that means the conditions to spawn the hatch were met.

    The 2nd Survivor that wasn't hooked must of found the hatch and opened it with a key and left, leaving the last Survivor for dead.

    How many hatches are there? I found the hatch and put traps around it

    There is only 1 Hatch in the entire game, and that's it... There has never been and never will be more than 1 Hatch that'll spawn.

    They could have seen the traps and evaded them. Trap hitboxes can be wonky sometimes.
