Rank reset Question

I started the game about 3 weeks ago, this is my first rank reset. Up until the reset the match making was super good, killer were the same rank and skill in game as the survivor. Since the reset it seems like the killers are way over the top, i get killers rank 17 that are as good are rank 10 before the reset and i got rank 15 that i cannot beleive the perks they have (like from 3 differents killers) and destroy the game in a minute or 2 max.

Is it normal after a reset that it get mix up that much? is it gonna get back to normal as soon as players grind back to their ranks? Because i finish the month at rank 10 so i reset to 14, Therefor should be the same for everyone the it should be the same players im playing with. But its a completely different game.

Another question that pop in my mind is... do players Derank before the reset to get super lower than they should be?

Thanks to help me understand whats going on.

P.S. The matchmaking is weird im 14, solo queued and i got match with killer 9, 3 others survivor at 8-8-9 That mean theses players where. rank 1? How does it make sens?

You're being paired with people that were in Red and Purple Ranks during the last season... it's very common for you to get those players in your lower level matches.

These players don't belong in that rank bracket and are just trying to get back to their original rank. That's kind of what some of the Killers become "over the top" or what not... they're naturally this way in Red and Purple ranks OR they're just trying to get back to their original rank and don't want to sit at the low ranks.

Also, the issue with deranking is that it takes a long time to even do... if you constantly DC to derank than you could get banned for hitting the DC threshold. This is why deranking isn't as common as it used to be. But yes, sometimes players that're not supposed to be in the lower ranks will crop up in a match or two at the lower ranks...

    it's important to know this

They're grinding to get back to their original rank like you said, so this won't last for more than a few days or at most a week... so you'll be fine once a few more days pass... or it probably is already subsiding!

Almost same amount of time. As a killer I keep getting matched with ridiculously good survivor teams. Either can't find them, or they've done all the generators faster than I can blink, or they outrun me on top of doing insane loops or fake outs where most of the time they double back on top of me.

I'm definitely dropping playing killer for a day or so.

This is normal? Doesn't this game have 3 different rank/ level systems.

Player level (or time spent playing), survivor rank, and killer rank?

Player level does nothing, it's just for show.

The only thing that's pairing you with Survivors of the same ranks is your Killer rank and vice versa. Sometimes, if you're queued for a long time than the match making will find Survivors that're higher up on the ranking to team you with... since either not many Survivors that're in your rank are playing, or they're in a match.

Think of it as a line to get food at a restaurant, if you're at the back of the line and there are people ahead of you that have waited longer... than you'll eventually get to the front of the line to order food.

That comparison may make it more confusing so... ignore it if it does.

Thanks for the great answer, thats what i was thinking, tonight was pretty bad, me and my friend had a really hard time, but in the night... it seems better, still im down to 13 and just got a killer 9 and 3 survivor 8-9-9, that was a bit hard but i manage to escape, i take it as practice with better players. I manage to do gold-Gold-Silver-Gold. Im a bit surprise of my gold in boldness but i guess my looping is getting better lol

Is the reset from 1 to 10 not a bit crazy compare to 10 to 14, they are F close to my rank and be able to rank with me, like theses 8-9-9 that probably where in the purple or red rank and i have to play with them lol That kind of matchmaking could drive off some new players as some of my friend didnt bother try it further. I like the challenge and the learning curve so i keep up and endure the down and hooking lol

They're going to update the match making in the future, so don't be discouraged by it too much.

It'll get a lot better when it comes to being paired with your rank bracket, so that's good to know! I wish you good luck in your future matches!

The new matchmaking system will only be to help the one stuck in the loop of old lobby being pass by new lobby, after a certain moment that you are waiting a pack of players in a similar situation will be removed from the search and put in a "bucket" like they said. Then a new list of matchmaking will be done with that bucket of player, to the best they can with the players in there, This way it ensure that you will play but sometimes... my create bad matchmaking.

Lets say you have 40 survivor and 10 killers in that bucket. 30 of the survivor are rank 8 and 5 are rank 10, 4 rank 12 and 1 rank 20.

    That will be something like

    8-8-8-8

    8-8-8-8

    8-8-8-8

    8-8-8-8

    8-8-8-8

    8-8-8-8

    8-8-8-8

    8-8-10-10

    10-10-10-12

    12-12-12-20

With the killer close to the ranks of the group

I dont think that kind of list will happen too often, but considering that the matchmaking is considering only Rank and Geolocalisation. Even if you are in a bucket you still the alone one far because of the Geo so will be match with the worst group.

Granted also theses matchs above could be different because of Geo, but it will only make it worst. But hey i guess its better to start a game with a hard group than not starting one. I would prefer that than waiting 20min

    Will see in January

They'll be doing something different than that.

From what I heard, people have speculated that they'll pair say... Trappers that're of Red Rank skill in the same category as Survivors that're equal to that skill... as well as other Trappers that're similar to that skill bracket.

There is no official information on what they'll be doing though... so we'll have to just wait.

I am sure the game may keep additional stats that the players will not see by design. If the matchmaker used stats over which a player has no control (and never gets to see) to pair up teams of survivors with a killer maybe the focus on rank will be reduced. The rank would then become something like player experience rank, a number to show off but not have much bearing on how matches are made.

Or as an alternative a greater emphasis is given on achievements made by a player and at what point in their hourly play those achievements were acquired.

forget my comment, i just re-read the post and it was one from last year, and they implimented that in january 2019. Sorry about that, the help center page have no date on it, other then suggested 4 days ago, and when i read it last time it was show Nov. 3rd.

Maybe they should have date on what they post, kinda ridiculous. I realise the post might be old when i saw beside a post for the new emblems system lol
