New player first rank reset?
So been playing almost 3 weeks. I have 2 killers and 1 survivor at level 30.
I thought I was getting the hang of this game despite my first couple matches being absolute trash.
Experienced the different facets of the player base: regular, flaming racist trolls/disconnects, and actually helpful people.
But now after the reset I feel like the matchmaking has lost its mind. As killer, survivor teams are far too outmatched for me. As survivor, if I play safe and team support style I get hate messages.
Tldr: if this is how matchmaking is every reset why do you guys keep playing?

During rank reset a lot of the Killers/Survivors from ranks 1-4 or 5-7 are brought back down to ranks 10-15 or whatever ranks Green ranks are.
When this happens, it's common for the Survivors you face as a Killer in low ranks or the Killers you face as a Survivor in low ranks to be... over the top. And some of them are naturally like this at the high ranks.
Unfortunately, you'll face some people that like who're naturally... "toxic" if you will. But since they sit at Red and Purple ranks mostly, they won't be around there for more than a few days of rank reset. Why, it's already subsiding as we speak since it's the 2nd day of rank reset already... in a few more days everything will go back to normal.
They're probably getting mad at your play style because they're used to very aggressive teammates that grab the Killers attention constantly. You don't really see that many Red Rank or Purple Rank Survivors playing "immersed" or safe.
I'm not saying you're playing bad, it's just your play style of course. They're just used to... playing with Survivors that never do that.

I guess this makes some sort of confounded sense.
Doesn't really justify getting sent a message spelling out the "N" word after absolutely failing at playing Hag and trying to make light of it & reaching out to the other players hoping to make DbD friends.
But anyway I don't think I had even reached 15 either side. Believe I was still in yellow ranks. And the reset dropped me to 17ish on both sides.
But really I guess my question is why?
Why the replay, where is the lasting enjoyment?
Like I've enjoyed this game up to now. But aside from buying new characters it's all just grind and repeat. And fend off unneccessary trash talk and toxicity.

The rank reset is to keep things fresh for everyone at high or low ranks.
If you're kept at the same rank with the same players... than things would get boring. And due to how the ranking system is right now, everyone would eventually hit Red Ranks... and if the ranks didn't reset than players would be paired with a lot of other players that're far above or far below them...
Don't worry though, they'll be reworking the ranking system soon as one of their upcoming projects for the road map they've released... soon people will be able to be paired with players of their own rank bracket.
I'm sorry you've encountered such toxic behavior, if you haven't already than please do report them so they're punished for saying such... selective words. Don't be discouraged though! There is always some bad apples in the bunch, but you can find a lot of good apples as well!

I tend to wait a few days after reset because you get the most toxic players during that time. It's like all the trolls come out of the woodwork to get back to rank 1 as fast as they can while simultaneously ruining the game for as many people as they can. Lots of DC's too.
I've gotten to rank 1 on both sides within a few days of reset and it's always just caused frustration. I'd rather wait and take my time ranking up to have more chill games.

This game definitely challenges the traditional playstyle I go for so once I got past, and understood it's not about just the objective survive or sacrifice, I started to enjoy the gameplay.
Hopefully whatever was happening yesterday will chill out some soon and I'll keep at it.
Takes more than a little toxicity to deter me.

This Rank reset is pretty much the worst one i seen in every existing Online game i have seen in the last 10 years easy.
I had 6 friends who start playing with me this game about 3 weeks ago and im down to 1 and me. Honestly with tonight experience.... being at rank 13 and getting killers rank 8 and survivor rank 17-8-7 and me at 13....? i mean ######### is wrong with the matchmaking system. im really thinking to not inverst anymore time in this game. im out for the night, i maybe will try another night tomorrow but if it goes like tonight, i will just go and stop playing and do bad review everywhere i can do one for this game... its just ridiculous. i never seen that.

Dude how is it a training when you have survivor 13-15-16-17, killers 16 and kills us in 2min, all 4 of us appart, not even close to each other, He is clearly not rank 16, more like Red or blue, ######### is he doing in yellow. This is just killing the new players who wants to learn and love the game...

I'm a new player too, some matches are quick and some are longer. Still need to learn about perks, map locations and the different abilities from the opponents. Accepting that other player are better and have more experience helps to enjoy the game. 😊

Just wait, i played a lots of hours in the last month, watch a lot of video, pretty much all OHTOFU videos, you will understand has you get deeping in the strat of the game how it makes no sense at all right now.

Videos can be helpful, but most of the experience you get in the game.
The game is not everytime nice to you, that what i mean. You are not playing every match vs high ranked.

I know, but the technic you learn it this way, i have been playing at least 4hours a day and up to 10h in the last 3 weeks, i get the basics pretty much done, i am just amaze how the reset F up the game so badly...

Honestly, i was at work tonight and the last friend i have playing DBD, send me messages where he was rank with a difference of like 12 ranks positions. After 3 games of this ######### he told me that he wont long in anymore, Maybe he will try in a week but not sure.
I come home, decided to play Killer for the Dark Rituel, havnt played Killer much. Rank 18... got pair with 12-12-12-17..... i mean i got destroyed it wasnt a joke, i got loopped like crazy and they where just having fun with me.... how is it suppose that you play a game to have a good time at night when the game is just frustrating because it does not manage its matchmaking correctly... how in the world do i end up again 12-12-12-17 while im 18???
My search was not long at all. Press rdy and in like 15sec my lobby open... took about 10sec and i got the 4 players. Even if its a groiup.. There is something fondamentaly wrong with the matching. Lost 5 players in a weeks, now im down alone playing it. I don't understand how this game lasted for what 3 years now i mean... Since restart its not just having super try hard playing that are suppose to be rank 1 and now are 14 for some reason, that i get that stupid roll back reset and i would not have any issue with it if i would be pair with 14-15-13-14 and i would be 15 or 14, than i would say ya ok i got what everyone explain in this post about this. its the bad matchmaking that drive me crazy... i guess its the last night. Trying to change my mind but this is just killing the game completely
