Not this most recent one but the update before it gave me issues. About 1-in-10 games or so I'd get dced within a few minutes of playing. I saw a lot weird dcs with that update from others as well.
This last update has been pretty good to me so far. I've been playing quite a bit since Wednesday having almost finished tome 2 and I haven't had a single dc mishap on my end yet.

Without sound it usually means it's a crash or loss of connection (internet).

What Luzi said, it most likely was a crash on the Killer/Survivors part... sometimes it's a genuine DC that was caused by a loss of internet or PC/Game crashing or what have you.
It very rarely means that the Survivor/Killer intentionally DC'ed...

It's a special type of DC done on purpose to avoid rank progress loss or loss of items. I won't go into details how it's done, but it's basically cheating. You can tell a normal DC from this special type of DC because there is no sound when they leave.
No, on console it's done on purpose. It's common knowledge among the top player on Xbox. If you want I can tell you what they are doing on Xbox so you can pass it along to the team. It's literally cheating in the same way lag switch is. They do it so they don't lose rank or items, and it happens a lot. It's very easy to distinguish between a legit crash and an instance where someone did it on purpose. Crashes happen at random. Cheat DC happens right after the survivor gets out play or they are about to die and lose a purple flashlight or key. No way you can convince me those are crashes.

I've noticed since the 3.2 update, there has been sporadic DC's (without sound) the thing is when someone closes app or loses internet connection they usually take around 10s to actually leave the game, now its instant. Also, when a killer closes app or loses internet connection on the survivor side, its back to 2017 again where it kicks everyone to the main menu (no post game screen, no leaderboard, etc) and we get absolutely nothing and sometimes lose our items.
