Why nerf a situational perk that has been nerfed before?
I don't understand the need to nerf a situational per to begin with. Sure, there are maps looking to get reworked. But, you have Sheltered woods where it's completely useless unless you happen to get high enough on the tree in the center. Another useless map I can think of is Yamoka estate. Balance Landing already took a nerf with the exhaustion changes. Exhaustion nerf was needed especially with sprint burst being a no brain hold down shift for 40 seconds. I don't understand why the stagger needs to be nerfed when it works well only on certain maps. Not only that, I don't see it often as killer and it's not as frustrating once you know the survivor shows you their hand like dead hard. I think this is a terrible knee jerk reaction by the dev team to nerf this perk and just stay focused on map balance.

I'd laugh my ass off if the next map rework is haddonfield
21 -
Because it received an insane buff in between those nerfs, one that completely shifts the balance of certain maps all by itself? That seems like a good enough reason.

It's not that bad, calm down. It's still just as usable as before.

######### balanced landing. I am no longer friends with balanced landing. Lithe is my homie now
8 -
I'm not attached to it at all as I rarely use it. The perk I 100% use in my games is BT. I just don't see the need to nerf the stagger. It feels pointless and doesn't affect me when I play killer as I run in to more DS, dead hard, BT, adrenaline users.
2 -
BL still has a good use, like every other Exhaustion perk. The only difference is that you can't abuse it to create god loops.
9 -
Funny I haven't had an issue with people running BL I dont really see a reason for that nerf at all, but then I dont have a problem with any of the perks. Anytime they nerf or "rework " perks they seem to make them pretty much useless an never see anyone run them again. Shame.
6 -
It could create god loops and made Haddonfield a nightmare. It needed to be brought in line with the rest of the Exhaustion perks.
3 -
Like mettle of man I haven't seen one activation when I play killer since it was changed
3 -
Lol if your dumb enough to play into that kind of loop you deserve it. Beside that you dont need BL to do that at haddonfield.
0 -
Because it created infinites.
1 -
I used to run BL all the time bc of how strong it was.
I'm so happy it's getting nerfed. I can finally feel viable without it. I've been using Dead hard and Sprint Burst more, and I'm having way more fun.
1 -
Yes, you did. If you didn't you'd get hit when you recovered from the stun.
Almost every house had one of these, meaning if you chased Survivors near a house, they could run those loops on you and you would be forced to leave. Even the devs have said that it was a problem.
4 -
Coal Tower, Haddonfield, Combine, Ormond Lodge, The Game, need I go on? All of these are great BL spots that often link directly into loops that you would not make if not for the stagger reduction of BL.
1 -
Lol if you got hit on haddonfield house loops you screwed up.
0 -
Eventually, the Killer would catch you, it will take about a minute or so.
1 -
A minute or so? Dude if the rest of your team are on gens that's 2-3 gens down.

Because of the fact on those maps like haddonfield and Macmillan it created uncounterable infinites. Just because it's situational doesn't mean it's fair. The changes take away the op part of Balanced and gives it a powerful buff with 100% noise cancel when you land when exhausted.
1 -
If the perk is as situational as you suggest, you shouldn't even notice it not working multiple times per chase. You still can get the stagger reduction once per chase, and since it's a super situational perk... You should be fine.
1 -
Honestly, I don't notice. If they use it to get distance, fine. After that, it's not hard to catch up with blood lust and the 0% stagger.

Gotta admit. Putting balanced landers in the basement after a Myers house infinite gone bad, is one of the most satisfying feelings in the game. Especially if they used a strode key. And then face camping them because SWF groups are incapable of letting their friends die without making a rescue attempt. Because let’s face it, everyone saves their strode keys for SWF.

Yes, I am well aware. However, it is NOT an infinite. A god loop where there isn't supposed to be one? Yes. But it isn't an infinite.
0 -
If that's how you see it but in my experience it is without BL.
0 -
I was talking where BL could be used to extend loops without Exhaustion. How are you going to manage getting off of the second story of Ormond without getting hit?
The combine one, yeah, I have also had that happen, its why I drop off the side.
The Coal Tower, depending on if the good window is open, can be used as a BL loop spot by dropping off of the second floor, not something you can do with any other Exhaustion perk.
The Game has a ton of spots where you would take a hit if you didn't have BL.
Overall, it's simply bringing BL in line with the other Exhaustion perks.
0 -
It is not, you can usually catch them on their first loop if they don't have BL.
0 -
People are really upset they can't create infinites at every rock they happened to climb on anymore.

This is a great point. I've not seen MoM activate since the nerf. It is a complete crap perk now. BL was really situational, though could be strong in some loops. Now it is a complete waste of a slot unless you play offerings for the right maps.
A better fix to the few areas where BL was overpowered would be to give it a 45 second timer where each successive stagger was less of a reduction. So you use BL, and then 30 seconds later you use it again (w/o speed boost), but the stagger reduction is halved and timer resets. Use it a third time and it is halved again and suspends stagger reduction until exhaustion expires.
Otherwise, it is less effective than all other exhaustion perks due to the limited places you can use it.

I'm sorry you must not be understanding me. What I'm say is when I'm survivor I yet to be hit on the house loop and I do not running BL. Not really sure why your arguing with me. Just stated my experience.
0 -
MoM is a badly designed perk. It will ALWAYS hover between OP and useless because the effect is gives is extremely strong. The update to Protection Hits will make it too strong again, imo.
BL will still be just as good as before, just no more god loops.
1 -
When you play Survivor, and do not have BL, you do not get hit on the Myers house loop, correct?
0 -
That's more due to bad map design though, if it creates a infinite you fix the map to fix the infinite. Do they need looked at? Sure but this sounds like a map issue, not a perk issue
0 -
Correct.
0 -
They should be able to hit you. The stagger from the fall slows you down enough to where if they play it right, they can get a hit.
0 -
MoM is getting another nerf with the protection hit nerf. That didnt work at all in the first place.
0 -
How so?
0 -
Like I said if you get hit your not doing that loop right or made a mistake. Having said that playing as killer I still rarely miss the drop hit. Even if they have BL.Why ? Because they made a mistake an aloud me to be right on there but to get the hit. Still there's the point that there are very few maps that BL is even remotely relevant.
0 -
Misread patch notes, but nonetheless its a pretty much useless perk as is. PH doesnt calculate when it should. Which I am sure is not gonna be fixed for another undefined but extended amount of time.
0 -
Agreed. It's the worst exhaustion perk. Before, you could argue "Oh SB isn't the worst because so and so" "Head On isn't the worst because so and so", but now there's no argument you can make as to why BL isn't worse than Dead Hard, Lithe, or Sprint Burst. It's situational as hell unlike the other 2 and has no good incentive to balance that out. That's why the stagger passive was implemented, to give an incentive to running this perk over the others.
TLDR: Balanced Landing = SB and Lithe except one is situational and the others aren't.
2 -
How is noise cancelling a powerful buff? If I'm in a chase the noise cancel will be pointless. when I'm exhausted from BL it's because I used it running from a chase. If anything with these changes BL has an identity crisis. There are very few situations the noise cancelling will come into play. Probably even fewer than getting off the killer's shoulder without any kind of wiggle perks and no body blocking.
2 -
Because instead of thinking about the issue with map design with regard to game mechanics, they decided to bring in a new map that literally showcases the same main issue, which BL helps to take advantage of. I never used BL for the speed, so I guess I'll never use it again outside of meming with perk wheels when I play survivor. Back to dead hard; that perk that we killers love oh so much...
0 -
I'd not write MoM off right now; it's going to be broken with SWF again now they've made it easier to get protection hits. Good for WGLF too, which desparately needed a buff. MoM, plus green medkit, plus breakout could be a mini meta in itself...at least within swfs
0 -
dead hard>SB>lithe>BL
head-on is its own thing and while pretty good, mostly a perk for messing about and meming in general so I don't count it with exhaustion perks.
0 -
I'd argue BL will fall into obscurity among good survivors for the most part; maybe it could make its way into some kind of houdini build with maps like haddonfield, but that's about it. The main reason for it being picked wasn't the exhaustion part of it.
I agree re: MoM, and if that does happen I wonder if the devs would consider moving it to safe unhooks only since this would mean a maximum of 2 uses in a single game. A soft limit via the prerequisites for activation is a good start imo. With the new change, SWF will likely have an easy way to bully killers in it (see my previous comment for what I think might happen) and they won't be limited by how many can use it right now.

I kinda wish they'd just remove map offerings. It can give a huge advantage to whoever decides to use one that I don't think is fair to either side.
0 -
Because the devs would rather nerf a perk than rework their crappy maps.
1 -
Balanced landing just gets changes all over the place doesnt it?
Do you remember when people would only level up balanced landing to rank 1 or 2 and go with just a 50/75% stagger reduction so the exhaustion effect wouldnt disable their perk? And then as a bonus they would be able to run a better sprint burst on the side that cooled down as they ran?
Back before every new map added at least one reallly good balanced landing location. Back before when it was much more common to run into shelter woods and a groaning warehouse map that had no hills but people didnt really complain about it?
And now its going back to disabled on use, but no rank 2 shenanigans, and it gets a BUFF to become a stealth perk as well.
What I expect to see next is dance with me to trigger on an out of chase balanced landing.

The Maps were BL is a problem will not be good for Killers, even after the change.
You dont want to play in Haddonfield, even without Balanced Landing. Grim Pantry still has insane Loops. Crotus Prenn Main Buildung still has multiple windows and 4 safe Pallets.
Neither of those Maps where the "balance of certain maps" was "shifted only because of BL" will be good for Killers after the change.
0 -
Why would anyone even use this garbage perk when the update comes out?
Literally go use Lithe. It's basically "Balanced landing" but better 100x better situations.
1 -
Just like killers that have a hard on for ruin XD
