Regarding switch and cross play/saves

Since it looks like bhvor are moving forward with cross play and potentially cross saves, that has me thinking about switch.

It would seem that due to licensing, freddy and leatherface still aren't on the system but if they were to include cross play, they would have to at least be coded into the game so the system knows how to handle it.

Would switch just be left out again until those issues resolve? Or would I be able to play against them just not play as them? Or because I own them on steam would I?

    It probably depends on Nintendo.

    Theoretically, if cross-progression were introduced between all platforms, but LF and Freddy still weren't available on Switch, your progress would probably be transferred but those characters would be unavailable for you to play.

    If crossplay between all platforms were introduced, and those killers still weren't available on Switch, you would probably be able to play against them but not as them, the same way it works currently when you don't own a DLC.

    Obviously, if the characters were introduced to the Switch game, both of the above would work as expected with you having access to them. But the available DLC, crossplay and cross-progression are all something the developers would need Nintendo's permission to implement in the first place.

    @LittleLiam

    You'd probably face PC/Console users with LF and Freddy, but you can't use them yourself on the Switch version until the license is resolved.

    If they disallow cross-play in-general because of the licensing issue, than you'd be left out. Tbh, Switch has a lot more issues at the moment due to the limitations the Switch provides for updates and other such things.

    It can happen though, so don't get your hopes down.

    It's a licensing issue if anything, that's mostly what it boils down to.

    This could be because of money or because of other reasons unknown. But no, it isn't always money that causes this.

    lol - Switch users will become experts avoiding Freddy and Leatherface killers.

    Both would be very new to their roster on Switch...

    So how would they be experts in avoiding them? If you mean like, avoiding their characters all together than yeah? I guess...
