How to improve the Archives in the future.

After the Tier 4 challenges got leaked it became abundantly obvious that you were trying to hook players into buying the battle pass with the relatively easy Tier 1 challenges (Which still encouraged toxic behavior) and then once they saw how difficult the Tier 3 and 4 challenges would be to complete they'd simply pay to complete their pass. We were told the Tier 4 challenges were simply placeholder but judging by some of these Tier 3 challenges i'd be surprised if that were the case.

I'd like to point out that your game already costs money to play and then on top of that has over $90 CDN worth of DLC and on top of that has a cosmetic store with a scummy "in-game currency" (Just use regular currency, I know you want me to buy just enough Auric Cells that I have a small amount left after purchasing what I want so i'm encouraged to buy more Auric Cells. It makes you, and any company who does it appear scummy). Now you're quadruple dipping by hopping onto the Battle Pass bandwagon AND double dipping within the Battle Pass itself by allowing you to pay for tiers.

Okay now let's get onto the Archive challenges. These on paper are a great idea, unfortunately due to your greed you feel the need to make them borderline impossible to complete naturally and even lock lore behind them. Strangely some of the Tier 3 "single trial" challenges are pretty easy to complete meaning your dev team either has no idea about the game they're making or you put these in intentionally to attempt to avoid criticism of the hard challenges.

My suggestion is actually quite simple, the reason a lot of these challenges feel unfair is because you have to play in an unnatural way for an incredibly rare occurrence (unhook 2 survivors during the endgame collapse, are you serious?). So, in my opinion I think that all challenges of a given tier should be active simultaneously, you can only have one tier active at a time but this would reduce the feeling of unfairness and also the possibility of a really hard challenge being completed BEFORE you even had access to do it (This actually happened to me in Tier 2, I could have completed the Dark Sense challenge on my first game of that tier being unlocked but because I wasn't allowed to do it yet it just went to waste leaving me feeling frustrated and cheated). On top of the proposed change get rid of all the "you must use this perk" requirements, these are just annoying for several reasons but the main one is what if you don't have the perk? In this game with three ranks of 71 survivor perks and 63 killer perks it's very easy to get screwed over if you don't often play one side over the other (Again, this happened to me for the Plunderer's challenge from Tier 1, I don't often play survivor and didn't have it on any survivor surprisingly. I had to spend 800,000 blood points to get it when there are still Killers I need to level for teachable perks).

As a side note, i'd like to point out that I had taken a fairly long break and had a handful of DLCs that I still needed to purchase, I knew the fall sale was coming soon and today I loaded them all up in my cart. Before buying them I decided to check on Tome Tier 3 and after seeing them I have decided not to purchase any of your DLCs. I also didn't purchase the Battle Pass as I never do until I've completed them (I encourage others do the same, save your money). So this decision has cost you at the very least one customers money.

I really love this game. Despite a lot of the bullshit that goes on it's still the best game of it's kind on the market, in my opinion of course. I want to support you. Stop treating us like cattle and I will.

In conclusion, make all challenges active at once and don't have any that require perks for future Archives.

I'm not a developer, but looking at things from their perspective, it's their job to encourage you to play their content, or at least create content you will play. The content they're creating is very playable, and even though completing some of the challenges are difficult, they're not impossible - you can totally get them done. The challenges are a good way to get people to play both sides, and to encourage people to learn both sides with rewards. The rewards of challenges increase in value throughout the tomes, as do the rewards from the rift, so it only makes sense that they increase the difficulty as well.

Also, if you're worried about missing out, don't fret... One of the great benefits, and correct me if I'm wrong, is that they've made it so all tomes stay active, forever. The only thing that ever closes is the rift, which is so new content can be ushered in. The cosmetics they remove from the rift will then be added to the store 6 months after, iirc. So, if you're struggling with one challenge, you don't have to do it immediately, you can take your time. Considering that you earn 1 rift shard every 2 trials, you can easily make up for the rewards you're not getting by avoiding a specific trial.

Personally I enjoy the challenges, even as survivor, which I've have gotten pretty good at just from the survivor challenges alone. Survivor isn't my favorite, but if you're already fairly good at playing killer, you'll be surprised and maybe even grossed out a bit by how easy it is to get good with survivor.

I also think that some of these challenges with specific requirements could allow the devs to collect data they probably only get very rarely, if any at all. They can create challenges, and see how people go about completing them, you know? In the long run this could improve the game overall.

As a side note, I don't know if this is the case, but these challenges serve to balance the game a bit, indirectly. It's just a hunch, but I imagine challenges distract people from playing normally, which might slow the game down a bit, and allow for more interesting experiences.

    Agree.

Lot of challenges are just like an Archievements. But for this reason, we have ...archievements on Steam.

The guy who set first challenge "unhook 25" for ALL of us (no choices to do something else) should be fired. Did you see how the games looks like now? How many toxic unhooking were done? All four survivors running behind the killer to be first for unhook when he catch someone. Nobody do a gens. Super mega frustrating. This is my last day with DBD (maybe tomorrow will finish TIER 70) and I ll uninstall the game.

I've run out of my patience.
