Gib Nurse builds and tips please

I'm thinking about embarking on the grueling journey that is (I heard) learning Nurse.

If you have anything to share please do so.

My personal favourite build for Nurse is:

Hex:Ruin - For the obvious slowdown.

BBQ&Chill - For information, and bloodpoints.

Nurses Calling - For tracking. Worksthe best on Nurse, because she can travel to healers with barely any warning.

Monitor&Abuse - Allows you to see Nurses Calling procs outside your terrorradius. Also give people on generators you approach less time to react, and therefor makes maps with good stealth possiblities less painful.

For add-ons, the cooldown add-ons, and range add-ons are the superior choice. If you are new to Nurse, I would pick the cooldown add-ons first. Once you got comfortable with her, you can switch one of your add-ons to range for the extra map pressure.

Other perks that also work well with Nurse are: Pop goes the weasel (instead or alongside Ruin), Infectious Fright (synergises with M&A), Sloppy Butcher (synergises with Nurse Calliung), Whispers. Shadowborn.

Other add-ons that are good for new players are: Plaid Fannel, and add-ons that reduce fatigue, like the Wooden Horse (reduces fatigue on missed attacks).

Tracking perks are essential on Nurse because she is so slow it makes it easy to hide from her. BBQ, Nurse's, Whispers, I'm All Ears, Infectious, Discordance, etc. Pretty much any tracking perk that isn't Spies is great for her.

Shadowborn is very good for her. It helps you track during fatigue and in corn much easier. Also a good tracking perk. Most people are split on this, either you use it or you don't. I personally love using it.

After that, the standard game slowing perks are fine. Ruin, Pop, Sloppy, Thana, Corrupt, etc.

The only perks you really shouldn't care for as Nurse are chase perks. Brutal, Spirit Fury/Enduring, Bambo, STBFL, etc. You don't need them and they don't help either. Only time you would want to use these is if you use the add-ons that change her base movement speed because they remove blinks. They make her more of a "normal" killer.

For add-ons, cooldown rate are her bread and butter, but she has other options. Fatigue add-ons are good too, but not as good as cooldown. Spoon/Tooth are my personal favorites. Spoon is great for corn maps or maps where you need a bit of extra tracking (also counters Iron Will), and Tooth is good if you want to replace Nurse's with another perk. After that range add-ons are actually really good. People say they are bad but the reality is you can blink halfway across the map with just 1 blink. And because the charge times are the same you can play her normally in a chase and just use the range to apply map pressure. The purple add-on that gives Undetectable is a lot of fun and very effective. After that her add-ons are meh. Mostly for specific types of builds or tactics, not great for everyday use.

    @Lanterns

I haven't touched post-nerf Nurse since the PTB, but it isn't hard to come up with something for you.

    First, tips.

For one, you'll want to ease into Nurse before you try anything crazy. Her nerf now requires both her blinks to take a full 3 seconds to each to charge, but her fatigue actually cuts that off to more like 4... so once the fatigue ends, you'll have a charge ready to go in 1 second, than the other blink will take 3 seconds to fully charge.

Knowing this, it's best to familiarize yourself with how the basic and advanced tiles work in this game. I'll provide a video at the end of this segment to give you an idea on how to better understand WHERE and when to blink (from your own conclusions).

Now, the tricky thing about the new Nurse is that breaking your field of view will usually cause you to lose the chase sometimes. This is because if the Nurse has no FOV of the Survivor... or a good grasp of where they went, than they'll struggle with the follow up hit, and than that'll cause them to guess where they went from common sense.

Knowing this, Nurse can still effectively down Survivors with the 1 second blink (after fatigue). So if you're in a solid area with no buildings to break your line of sight, you have a basic idea on how to blink, and the area is open, than you'll for sure down them with the follow up.

Keep in mind that a guide is just that... a guide. People mistake guides for a cure-all to their problem, but in reality it takes practice, conditioning, and repetition to get to where you want to be. It's good to get an idea on how to use a specific Killer, but don't expect that guide to make you instantly understand the answer to your issue.

Below i'll be linking the basic tiles (aka loops) video. The video is old, but it still holds up to todays meta... so it's not like anything here was massively changed over the course of these few months. You'll still get a basic grasp on how to understand how these loops work, and on almost every map THESE LOOPS EXIST. (Except Hawkings, The Game, and any other map I missed to list)

Here's the basic tiles (aka loops) video link:

Next, add-on changes. (a slight summary)

The add-ons were the most in-depth change to the Nurse nerf... so it's a good idea to know what combinations are the best or the most creative to use.

For one, omega blinks were remove (the super distance blinks and 5 blink nurse add-ons) but there is still 1 add-on that increases your blinks by 1 AND another that decreases it by 1. These add-ons are the new Ultra-Rare Matchbox, and Torn Bookmark add-ons.

Matchbox simply removes 1 blink charge from the Nurse, but makes her as fast as the Huntress. Her movement speed when the add-on is put on is brought up to 4.2m/s! So the add-on is kind of a hit or miss in terms of versatility.

Torn Bookmark is a different story though, this increase the blink charges by 1, but limits her to where she can blink based on her FOV. Meaning, if you try to blink past a wall... it isn't going to work. Mainly because she can't see the other side of the wall, so the benefit is the increased blink count, and the dis-advantage is the removal of her ability to blink past walls, rocks, anything she can't see the other side of.

You'll also want to click this link to see the current add-on changes for The Nurse (as well as some Nurse changes from the PTB and a bit into LIVE): https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/99318/

All the current add-on changes are above in that link, so don't worry about one being left out! But besides the new Ultra-Rare add-ons and add-on changes, lets actually talk about the best combos...

    next, some add-on combos.

So, from that slight summary above we'll get into the actual things you'll want to know about the better combos to use on the new Nurse.

    Torn Bookmark + plaid Flannel

This combo focuses on the new 3 blink Nurse with the added benefit of seeing where you'll be able to blink to with Plaid Flannel. Basically, Torn Bookmark removes the ability to blink past walls, rocks, areas you can't see, for the bonus of an extra blink.

Now, this is where Plaid Flannel comes in, Plaid Flannel allows you to see where you'll blink on screen, so paired with Torn Bookmark can give you an idea of where you'll be able to blink and not accidentally keep hitting objects. A niche combo, but in the right hands it's actually a pretty good one to use!

    Heavy panting + Pocket watch

Simply put, this combo just increases the maximum blink charge time and the chain blink window duration. What does this mean? Well this just means your blink range is increased, but the charge speed to use a full blink is also increased (Heavy Panting), while also having a longer window to hold your 2nd blink during the mid-chain blink (Pocket Watch).

Or, in other words... you can blink farther with Heavy Panting but have a longer charge speed to use a fully charged blink, and Pocket Watch increases the time you have to use your 2nd blink before you go into a pre-mature fatigue.

It's fairly decent with the only downside being the increased charge speed for your blinks... so if you do decide to use the stronger version of Heavy Panting (Kavanagh's Last Breath), than keep in mind that instead of a Considerably longer Blink Range, it's a Tremendously longer Blink Range, but that also applies to the charge speed being a Tremendously longer as well...

    Fragile Wheeze + Dark Cincture

Considered to be the best add-on combo (even after the nerf to them), this add-on combo focuses on simply increasing the blink recharge speed... so that 3 second blink refresh timer is brought down to instead 2 seconds for each blink.

Before the decrease was 1.5 seconds, but it was changed due to the add-on combo making the Nurse basically her pre-nerf base-kit self. But this is still widely considered the best OR one of the top combos to use, since 1 second off the 3 second interval for each blink is a total of 4 seconds, rather than 6 seconds.

Please note that the blink charge during her fatigue animation was changed... here's a quote from the 3.3.1 patch notes.

"Rather than regaining all her blink charges immediately after finishing her fatigue animation, The Nurse now regains 1 blink charge every 3 seconds, starting at the beginning of the fatigue animation. The time can be modified by add-ons."

So, the time in which the first recharge was changed around a bit. So now, during the beginning of the fatigue animation she'll start recharging her first blink... so because of the base fatigue, it takes off 2 seconds... since that fatigue will always be the same UNLESS an add-on is used to reduce it.

In a way, this means the first blink would recharge after the fatigue animation is done... and than the 2nd blink would only take 2 seconds to recharge! That's why this is considered a very good add-on combo... it makes the blink refresh timer a lot more lenient! This doesn't mean she's basically pre-nerf Nurse with these add-ons, the refresh timer still exists regardless of the fatigue time taking 2 seconds off overall... meaning it's still 4 seconds overall for BOTH blinks to recharge.

It's just that the fatigue time was always that way during base-kit, so the fact it recharges 1 blink after the fatigue is over ALLOWS you to instantly blink like you normally would in pre-nerf, but it takes 2 seconds to regain the second blink after... so it isn't pre-nerf base-kit at all.

    Hopefully this makes sense!

    Campbell's Last Breath + Catatonic Boy's Treasure

A very very odd combo, but it's unique. For one, Campbell's Last Breath allows you to blink to a spot with a fully charged blink, than she blinks forward (where ever she's faceing) at half a blink charge...

Catatonic Boy's Treasure just lessens the fatigue after the chain blink... that's about it. That add-on can be used for other things, but for this add-on combo it's kind of needed? Do I recommend using this build? No... it's kind of niche and or complicated, and for new Nurses for post-nerf Nurse it's too... "niche" I guess.

"Bad man's" Last Breath + Spasmodic Breath

This combo is actually pretty cool, and it's quite versatile in some cases. Both "Bad Man's" Last Breath and Spasmodic Breath work off of a successful blink hit...

Once you hit a Survivor with a blink attack, you'll gain the regular 4.6m/s on Nurse for 60 seconds with Spasmodic Breath, and you'll also gain the undetectable status effect for 16 seconds (with a 60 second refresh timer for the next use).

Basically the first hit is a for sure thing (If you know how to use Nurse with her 2 blinks) and than the 2nd hit for the down focuses on a regular M1 chase, which is a unique spin to how The Nurse functions! I kind of like it, it's practical, not OP at all, and can make for interesting chases... if you don't like the idea of not blinking during those 60 seconds though, than this isn't the combo for you.

    last, perks (for post-nurse).

Nurse most commonly would use perks like BBQ & Chili, Shadowborne, Infectious Fright, etc. But currently there are a lot of other perks you can use that work well for Nurse!

Instead of a build that I usually recommend you use the most, i'm going to instead recommend the perks that're best suited for The Nurse at this current time! I'll make things simple and make a list with each individual description of why this perk is useful on her, other bits of info, etc.

    • BBQ & Chili (Still a must have for The Nurse, aura tracking for her to find and hit Survivors with her blinks AND a 100% BP bonus post-game!)
    • Infectious Fright (Some newer perks might take up this perks slot, but once a Survivor is downed, any nearby Survivors will scream and reveal their location to you... making for an easy hit or chain down!)
    • Shadowborne (Lets you have an increased FOV to see where Survivors are in the corner of your fatigue screen... it really does help keep track of where a Survivor moved AFTER you hit them)
    • Nurse's Calling (a 24 meter aura tracking at Tier lll when someone is healing nearby... whats not to love? Easy for another down and for spacial awareness)
    • Hex: Ruin (For Pre-Nerf Nurse this was not needed at all, for Post-Nerf? For beginners it's useful to help you learn the ropes.)
    • Corrupt Intervention (Considered to be better than Ruin, this perk is for players that don't want hex perks to tie down their ability to save time!)
    • Surveillance (Not the best perk for the Nurse, but it let you know if someone sneaks back on a generator you kicked...)
    • I'm All Ears (This perk is amazing for The Nurse... any rushed actions like fast vaulting, running out of a locker fast, dropping pallets, vaulting pallets fast, can reveal the Survivors aura to you within 48 meters for 6 seconds! The cool-down is 40 seconds for each use, but for high walled window loops it's amazing to know where they went to!)
    • Discordance (If 2 Survivors are on 1 generator you'll be notified, keeps the gen-rushing at a minimum for beginners and pros alike)
    • Thanatophobia (Believe it or not, all 3 of the Nurse's perks work with her power! Thanatophobia has been nerfed a bit though... and The Nurse doesn't really hit multiple a lot anymore, but that depends on the players ability to doe so AND if you want to use a perk slot for it)
    • Stridor (Injured Survivors are 50% louder, a hard counter to Iron Will! And it also makes regular breathing 25% louder as well)
    • Save The Best For Last (A Niche perk for The Nurse, but with 8 stacks at Tier lll STBFL... it can't be beat, with the right fatigue add-ons it can be useful... but for base fatigue it isn't no, so unless you use fatigue add-ons than no, don't use STBFL on Nurse)
    • Sloppy Butcher (A solid perk for every Killer in the entire game, unless you're Plague, Sloppy Butcher can't go wrong! Increased healing time with Nurse's Calling can make for some easy blink hits!)
    • Hex: Huntresses Lullaby (Works off of downs, if you're new to Nurse than this isn't for you. If you know how to use post-nerf Nurse a bid or moderately, than this is decent for her... worth a perk slot? That's up to you)
    • Hex: Haunted Grounds (If you can make it to the totem breaker OR anyone you're chasing with a hit, than it's a free down essentially... and on the Nurse pre and post nerf, it's pretty solid if you wanna protect Ruins where-abouts with it)
    • Whispers (A top-tier perk with Nurse, letting you know where a Survivor is within 32 Meters is quite useful for a Killer that can "dash" to several areas... good for the start, end, and sometimes mid game as well!)

That's kind of it for the most part, if I missed any perks that you might think are worth it... than just use common sense and read into the perk! If you think it's worth it than for sure use it.

    conclusion

I might of missed some perks, but those perks I listed are pretty solid to make a build with... just know how she works off of old and new guides and you'll get an idea for a build... I also didn't add every possible combo... cause it would take too much time, and this is good enough.

This guide should give you an idea of combos and perk builds, as for tips on how to use her... that's a bit too complicated for me alone. Hopefully this gives you a BASIC idea of how to use her though!

Since I'm All Ears has been mentioned a few times now, it should probably be mentioned that, as of this post the perk is currently in the Shrine of Secrets.
