What's next for ruin?

So, the forums and everyone that plays this game has been losing their absolute mind at the ruin change. Some people praise it, some people think it's BHVR literally trying to destroy the game that they've built. But really, what it should be, and what I think it is, is a stepping stone.

The real reason that everyone uses ruin, nobody cares about gatekeeper, is to stop yourself from having half the gens pop in less than two minutes into the game. The new ruin helps that exactly none.

BUT. The new ruin does something the old ruin didn't.

And that's get rid of ruin. With ruin gone, and replaced by a much less immediate threat that lasts all game and doesn't need to be cleansed IMMEDIATELY to make it not frustrating, HOPEFULLY BHVR can focus on actually fixing why people want to run it all the time. So, for those of you that are raving mad about the ruin change (I'm fairly among you but I really look forward to ruin+surveil shenanigans), I hope that you can bear with BHVR in this trying time. We're pushing back against this but we all know that ruin currently sucks.


We ALL know that something needs to change. Gen timers, SWF, something. And removing ruin in its current incarnation IS the stepping stone to that. So, cheers BHVR, I don't know what you have in the works, but I sincerely hope it's for the better overall health of the game and not to appease people who don't like hex skill checks.
