Please tighten connection on dedicated servers.
Time and time again have I been hit when I clearly should not have been. Hitboxes are not to blame but rather dedicated servers. In the past few weeks I've played this game, I have been hit after the swing animation has been completed, gained plenty of distance after vaulting a window, or after the pallet dropping animation has completed. Another result of these things happening is people dcing when they think it's unfair, which it kind of is. I remember something along the lines of the devs saying that it looks completely normal on the killers side, but I can assure you that I've noticed hits connecting that should not have when playing killer. I don't claim to be an expert on hosting and managing servers, but I know that queuing for people closer to you is something that can be done.

Or mabye drop this entire dedicated servers crap, and go back to the P2P system, which worked perfectly fine.

*Switchpullers in the background : Yes do exactly that PLS !!*
To get back to the original post, there are two things operating for this to happen. Distance between the players causing delay as you said, but also servers tickrate. So even with people being in the same country, you'll witness some random hits occuring because clientside he might be in range and the game will register a hit where from the survivor POV the killer started the windup animation more or less 3m away from you ( 1m over 0.2 sec " windup" + 2m over 0.3 sec "hurtbox" ) assuming you kept running, it shouldn't have hit you but it does.

I don’t know if P2P worked “perfectly fine”, I still got hit unfairly; but in some matches I clear the window and don’t get hit. Other matches I’m already running away after vaulting and still get hit now.

Nothing stops you from lagswitching on dedicated servers. Hit detection is still clientside.

Nothing stops you but they will get data about you losing connection and magically win the game right after that. We know hit detection is still clientside, that's ( one of ) the main issue of dedicated servers, the game is coded to be P2P hosted by the killer.
