Cross platform progression

I looked a bit around the wish-list board and didn't see anything for this (even tried search and none of the top results were the same) so hopefully I'm not starting a duplicate thread, but I would love to have cross-progression, even if we'll never see cross-buy or cross-play.
Basically I just passed the 500 hour mark on xbox, and have been thinking about playing on PC when I get a new laptop in a few months, and while I have no problem buying the game again (already did actually during the last steam sale :P) I really don't want to have to put another 500 hours in to get back to where I was.
I know cross play is off the table (and I'm honestly fine with that), and I personally would be fine with having to re-buy cosmetics and DLC packs for each platform (because either A) i rebuy the stuff making sure DbD can keep pumping out great content or which they've done a pretty good job so far, or B) I can just live without the killer or costume ), I just really don't want to start from scratch and then bounce between two different versions of the game.

I know it there's a strong chance it won't happen, but hey, this is the wish list ;)
