Question about Leavers and Ranks

I am a new player, I switch between both Killer and Survivor.

As a killer I have started to run into a lot of leavers. Sometimes the player will even leave the first time I down them before I can even pick them up. I understand how bad it can feel getting caught but I am fiding it hard to get past rank 15 because every other game I get has 2 people quit mid game.

What do the veteran players do to get past this? Or do I need to just play a bunch until I start getting survivors that dont quit mid game?

There's honestly nothing you can do about that, since I play in Red Ranks (the highest rank at Rank 1 Killer) and still get DCs at a fairly common rate, or in this case you call them "Leavers".

The term for "leavers" is DCing or Disconnecting, where a Survivor or Killer will leave mid-match for a variety of reasons, some are reasonable like they have something important to take care of or what not, but most DCs are caused by rage-quitting or the match not going "their way" in a sense.

You can't really do anything about it, as it's a common thing that Killers and especially Survivors will do. Not everyone does this, but some Survivors and Killers have a reputation of DCing if the match isn't going their way in a sense.

Here's a list of some common DCs that some Survivors will do, some added Killer ones in there as well:

    • [Survivor] Was found first or found within 30 seconds of the game
    • [Survivor] Was downed first or downed within 30 seconds to a minute of the games beginning
    • [Survivor] Got beat in a chase or "outplayed" as some would say
    • [Survivor] Facing a specific Killer they hate, this can range from any Killer but the most common DCs for certain Killers are Spirit, Billy, Freddy, etc
    • [Killer] Facing a Survive with friends
    • [Killer] Multiple people DC'ed in-game, so the Killer doesn't want to play against a 2 v 1 or something
    • [Killer] The match wasn't going their way and they're being a bad sport about it
    • [Survivor] Their teammates are not "good enough" so they leave because of it

And there are some others too, but these are some examples.

BUT do not fret, there is a solution to this soon!

BHVR was recently testing out the new DCing penalty system, which works like this, if a Survivor or Killer DCs mid-match than they'll be given a set amount of time to wait until they can play again.

The more they DC in rapid succession, the more the timer goes up, eventually they'll be given a DC ban as a result of too many mid-match DCs. So, this won't be happening all the time in the future, so don't worry about it too much.

At the moment though, you'll just have to tough it out i'm afraid. I'm sorry that that's the best I can say about this, but that's really the best you can do until the new DC penalty system is fully implemented.

Unfortunately, there is nothing you can do. These people are just bad eggs so to speak. It really doesn't change until you hit Red Ranks. There are less people leaving there because they (usually) value rank.

Good news is, like @FireHazard said, BHVR have been testing bans for disconnecting from a match early.

They already tested it, whether or not more tests need to be made is unknown unfortunately... unless it was said on a stream somewhere.

Either way, we'll see development on this soon.
