Honestly if you remove ranks I'm quitting.

I'm not saying this as a threat, just as a concern because I really like this game but if I have nothing to work towards why should I continue to play?

I come from the League of Legends community where rank is pretty much everything and this is my side game that lately I been playing a LOT trying to get better at it. I been nothing but a purple rank scrub on survivor and only recently started playing killer (though I am already super close to purple) and well, I was wanting to grind to get better to hit Red ranks... Without this drive I honestly have nothing to work towards other than picking up a couple more perks that I want.

People say ranks don't matter but honestly it's pretty ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥t. If ranks didn't matter I wouldn't have been hard stuck purple ranks since I wasn't good enough at looping and couldn't consistantly hit hex totem skill checks. Even with hex ruin removed I would still have to get better at looping to hit red ranks because I simply am not there yet. I WANT to work my way there. I WANT to get better and when I do get there, I want others to see I accomplished it.

If I wanted to play a game like this that wasn't competitive I'd simply go play "Last Year" or even "F13", they are both casual with no ranked ladder. The rank ladder is what makes me play this game over those, personally. I enjoy all 3 but I'd never main the other 2 simply because there isn't stuff to work for.

I am sure there are plenty of casual players that disagree, but from my point of view this for me would ruin the game enough for me to drop the game.

They said they are not removing ranks. What they said was that in the future they are planing to remove ranking from the Tally screen but you will keep having a rank and a goal to fight for every month.

    They wrote:

"Ranks will remain visible only to you for bragging rights and a goal to work towards, but will be a reflection of your dedication to the game rather than skill for the time being. "

It doesn't mean they might not even improve ranking system in the future and maybe even throw some prizes in it. It just means you will no longer see other peoples ranks. I honestly think they should keep ranks since it will be independent from matchmaking but I understand their concerns in terms of people trying to erroniously judge their matchmaking system based on an independent system (Ranking).

Bye, if you don't enjoy the game don't play, you're not going to get pity by threatening to leave unless the devs fulfill your selfish demands

It’s not just that. People like info they like to know things. I like knowing when the match ends the enemy teams numbers bc it helps me understand why I did good or bad. Taking away info blinds us into understanding how the devs are manipulating Mach making. Can’t complain if they don’t know. Sure you have a rank. Doesn’t mean a thing if you can’t compare it. This game has horrible match making it’s really fun to be a killer that is green or yellow vs 3 reds and a purple. Imagine if you had a bad night of game after game like this and you never understood why your games were so tough. It’s a shady thing to remove info when it’s some times critical to coping with negative experiences

I used to play LoL as well and the ranking system on DbD is not the same at all.

In LoL the rank system is based on number of wins and there is also a promotion system. That way, you need enough points to get to the promotion challenge and if you win majority of the games during your promotion challenge, you rank up. That is okay to do on LoL because there are two teams playing towards the same goal.

In DbD, the rank system is not a skill based promotion. The more you play, more you will rank up. The other major difference is that doesn't matter if you play solo, duo or a full group, you will rank up the same way on the same category. However, you can expect higher ranks to have better items and perks since they are playing the game longer than a rank 17-20 player.

If rank is really that important to you, play survivor and find yourself a good SWF group. You will get to red ranks in no time.

PS: I'm new to the game as well. Purple rank killer.
