Why does everybody suck?

I've been bouncing between rank 7 and 5 as survivor and usually this is where I start to get decent mates who actually have experience and are capable of running the killer around. But latley everybody seams to suck, they literally play like rank 18's. But when I look at their rank at the end of the round they're around my rank most of the time. It's not even normal anymore, I barely win matches and if I do it's just because of the hatch.

I mean seriously! I thought it was common knowledge at this point that you don't just waste pallets and try to loop or that you don't just save someone from the hook right in front of the killer without borrowed time or that you actually have to do gens in order to escape. And yet nobody seams to care anymore. My teammates in almost every round I played for the last month are so incompetent that it is laughable and yet the game wants to tell me that they're at rank 5. It's like the community evolves backwards. It's not even fun to play as a survivor anymore. And here I was thinking that the ruin nerd would make being a survivor much easier.

Does anybody expierience anything similar? What exactly has changed?

The most likely culprit is the rank reset changes a month or two ago.

It has always been the case that survivors especially can rank up very easily as long as they play enough, but on top of that, players no longer get reset back nearly so far as they used to during rank reset. So while many people with little skill but a lot of playtime used to end up at red or purple ranks frequently, now players with neither skill nor playtime are able to get to higher ranks quite easily, which has made skill variations at red and purple ranks even more noticeable.

Luckily, the matchmaking system is about to be overhauled, so theoretically you shouldn't be running into this problem for much longer.
