Lobby Dodging

Can you please make it so that killers get penalized for lobby dodging for no reason? Survivor que times are already horrible at the moment, and dodging makes it very frustrating just having to wait 20 minutes to get into 1 match.

Yea.... you realize you would be waiting just as long right?

I would rather have lobby dodging than getting a disconnect as soon as the game starts, or a few minutes into the game, really.

That shouldn’t matter. They might be a horrible SWF or a bad SWF. Either way, dosen’t mean you should dodge. You can’t expect to 4K every match, same with survivor, they can’t expect to escape every match. You could simply DC and find a match in less than a minute. As on the other hand survivors have to wait 7-10 minutes for 1 match even if it’s solo que. The killer lobby dodging makes it worse. Why punish the survivors and make them wait more?

"boohoo I want to use toxic names against survivors and expect them to dc rather than just dodge me in the lobby" seriously? you prefer to have them disconnect than wait a bit longer for an actual game? do you even read what you said?

Yeah seriously. No one wants to play against people like that.. Especially if the entire team is dressed the same. One survivor out of the group? I don't care. All of them? ######### that I'm dodging, I want to have fun.

Why do you bring up bullying? Nobody wants to bully. I’m sorry that you’ve had bad experiences with toxic survivors and before you say anything I’ve had horrible experiences with SWF groups since I’m a rank 1 killer but you know, not everyone plays with SWF or plays toxic, so they shouldn’t deserve that type of treatment. If you are going to bring up gen rushing and bullying, then slap on perks to help you just like survivors have perks to help them? AKA NOED.

Yes, of course the game is highly survivor sided at the moment and yes, gen speed is a huge problem at the moment but, killers have perks to fix help them in situations where they cannot control the game as they wish. If you believe you’re going to get bullied or if you think you’re going to go up against a strong SWF then use NOED or bring a mori even if that is not your typical gameplay style. Personally as a rank 1 killer on console (which is stressful just because of the fact that it’s console), I’ve never used NOED because I like to see the mistakes I’ve made if I cannot get any kills. All I’m saying is that there are other ways to cope with your match other then dodging.

Sorry no, SWF have an unfair advantage against a killer. If I see a 3/4 man SWF with 1500+ hours each plus tool boxes I am going to dodge.

Or, it's because of a terrible matchmaking change. That coincidentally killed survivor queues the minute it was introduced.

I would rather wait 10 minutes to get into a lobby that I know I could stay in and not get dodged rather than waiting 10 minutes just to get dodged for no apparent reason. The thing is, is that even if killers get penalized for 30 seconds, to a minute and so forth, They’ll find a match instantly. What if i don’t want to switch to killer because I’ve played killer all day? What if I want to play some survivor matches. And you’re here saying “just switch to killer and no more waiting”? I’m not trying to sound like a toxic survivor main because I’m not. But why should I have to wait more when the killer dodges for nothing? If you’re going to bring stuff up such as gen speed, looping, SWF and map design, there are moris and perks to help the killer like NOED which I would rather go against then having to wait.

And made killer queues instant as a side effect, killer queues used to take much longer than current survivor queues do, so I'd say it's still win-win.

Yes it's nice we have instant queues, but it tilted the scale too much. Before there was a short time where queues were around 1-2 minutes for each side, which I think was pretty alright. Now its instant for one side, and 5-10 minutes for the other.

Oh I know not all are toxic, I agree but it's in the context of having a lobby where their names are literally "toxic" or something in that line.

If they all have toolboxes i usually bring a green mori just in case.

Just so we can understand each other, i dodge of I'm certain it's gonna be toxic match and after a while you know when it's going to happen.

Does it suck to be dodged? Yes. But that's how it goes. I don't dodge every lobby but in the situation i told you about before i..... I'll dodge every time

Yeah, SWFs and their voice comm is unfair advantage that simulates many survivor aura reading perks. Its not much fair that they dont have to use these perks because they have voice comm so to balance this unfair advanatage I can as killer decide if I dodge or stay. Same for keys and 2+ toolboxes. Im not interested in getting gen-rushed and then all escape via hatch after 2-3 gens repaired.

You keep ignoring the first message. Lobby dodging doesn't send you back to the menu like it used to. At most you have one minute of waiting until the new killer comes, so stop trying to find excuses.

And last time I got two people in my lobby calles "If you kill us we dc". Do you seriously think everyone should play with this just so that they can have fun?

Yeah depends on the day.. It's literally instant killer games even on bloodhunts now, before it used to be around 5, and 10+ on bloodhunts..

Survivor used to be nearly instant, now it's about 2-3 minutes for me.

I mostly play killer too so it suits me juuuust fine. I played more survivor because of the challenges this past week, but I completed the last survivor challenge I had yesterday so I'll get back to playing killer more.

    Green ranks here.

Matchmaking is brutal lately. If I have to play most my games at in the red ranks and I see everyone armed with tool boxes and it's already not been another not so enjoyable day in DbD I might bail.

I've had more DC in the past week than ever. They don't like Franklin's or I messed up their locker stuns with iron maiden. They ruin the game for everyone. Some of them hang in the lobby to flame post game lol. I didn't even know that was possible till this week. It's crazy there is no penalty for that.

Yeah. I play much more killer than I do survivor, but lately I've gotten back into survivor and realized how paltry the queues are. They just can't find a balance in queues, and then they introduce bad changes. The rank reset one is good example of a bad change. Because you're reset up maybe 4 ranks at most, red ranks are now going to be heavily populated because it is so hard to actually depip consistently. This leaves low rank matchmaking pretty empty. I feel like their old system had its flaws, but was the direction they needed to stay around.

I see a lot more killers running Iron Maiden lately.. the Head On challenge probably doesn't help. Saw a Billy running it last night, that was a first! I run it on my Clown.. Iron Maiden, Make Your Choice, Devour Hope (though sometimes I just bring Pop, since Devour Hope can get broken too early) and Barbecue.. it's a deadly combo but it works just fine haha (and it makes me play differently than I do on other killers with different perks)

Rank reset is a big problem.. I've been saying it a lot lately, but if they made you reset two rank colors back instead of just one, it would fix the red ranks overpopulation problem.. People don't derank as much as they should and you end up with green ranks in the reds, and that means yellow/green rank killers end up matched against red ranks, which would have never happened before the changes to how rank reset worked.

Exactly. The new system in theory sounded alright, but the actual results have been awful. I'm surprised they've stuck with it for this long though.

  • Marcavecunc
    Marcavecunc Member Posts: 2,057

Yeah.. I understand they wanted people not to have to work their way over and over.. but that's what every game with seasons is like.. And other games would have you derank all the way back to 20 and work your way back to 1, every month. So deranking a few colors back instead of all the way back to 20 still is a good way to prevent annoying matches in the first few days due to deranking.

    But yeah..

Are you on Xbox? Because on PC, PS4, and Switch there are dedicated servers. Dedicated servers mean that once the survivor is in the lobby, the only way for the survivor to leave that lobby is for the survivor to choose to leave. Killers can come and go, but because the killer is no longer the host, the killer dodging the lobby doesn't cause the lobby to reset.

If you're on Xbox, then you don't need penalties because whenever dedicated servers do go live they will fix this issue for you. If you're not on Xbox, then I'm confused because the wait time to get into a lobby may be long but once you're in one you seem to get priority: a killer dodges, a new killer quickly takes his place.

I don't know why you're bringing up all that stuff about perks and what not. None of that is pertinent in any way to this conversation. Something that actually is pertinent is the matchmaking disparity. Killers are already being put up against survivor who are way out of their league; they have no control over that whatsoever. They can at least choose the lobby, though, so a rank 16 killer may be destined to go against a group of purple/red rank survivors, but at least they can choose not to go against the group of purple/red rank survivors with four toolboxes and the word "toxic" in their names. Low rank killers are having a miserable time, it's amazing they're still playing at all. Penalize them for dodging a lobby? They'll either stop playing killer, making lobby times longer, or they'll switch to playing survivor, which would be even worse for lobby times.

If I don't like the match when I play survivor, I can just suicide. Woohoo, I'm outta there!

If I don't like the match as killer, I can't just leave; I'm stuck there until the match is finished. So, I go wait at the exit gate or something. Then all four survivors are stuck playing a gen repair sim. Not that afk'ing changes my matches that much; I usually just run around and throw bottles at survivors, so it's a gen repair sim with coughing.

As a survivor, I keep going up against rank 20 killers who get annihilated by rank 16 solo survivors. I feel bad for those killers. They shouldn't be going up against players with experience. They get no choice in terms of the ranks they go up against; I damn well don't want to take away their ability to choose their lobby.

And as a survivor, I still have some choice. I see a lobby with three Claudettes, I'm leaving and looking for a new lobby. Tired of getting tunneled out quickly because I'm the only survivor the killer can actually see.

You suiciding on hook depends on the killer hooking you in the first place and not being pulled off or kobe'ing.

Many killers will slug just for fun.

As a killer, I can choose who I want to kill or get owned by. Don’t penalize that.

This is only a problem in Xbox, dedicated servers fixed it. Just wait for them, nobody needs unnecessary bans
