Dear Dead By Daylight: Cannibal/Bubba Changes (Excerpt)

Hello again,

I uploaded a document (and accompanying forum post) titled Dear Dead by Daylight about a month ago which has been getting incredible feedback from you guys here in the community, but the biggest suggestion was to split all the change ideas into multiple documents to make them easily digestible. Today, I bring you suggestions for changing The Cannibal. He's had a lot of problems with bullying and being bullied, most likely due to his overwhelming overlap and odd variation with the Hillbilly. This is intended to give him his own feel and a much less camp heavy playstyle. P.S. This list isn't perfect and I may change things on the main document based on new data, but I don't plan on changing anything on these fragment posts, so if something seems off, make sure to check the main document or comments to make sure it isn't already fixed.

"Make it so you switch to the chainsaw as an alternative weapon (taking 1.5 seconds to get to chainsaw and 1 second to switch back to the sledge). When you swing with the chainsaw, 

  • You Swing slower (1.25 seconds per swing)
  • After a lunge, you have a slightly longer recovery period from the lunge
  • Instantly put survivors who are hit into the dying state
  • When you land a hit, you do an extended dance animation in celebration (3.5 seconds)
  • Are much louder in general (Your grunts can be heard across the map)
  • Have the blind status effect
  • Can still break pallets with a single swing
  • If you hit a survivor, you have a cooldown of 60 seconds to be able to switch to the chainsaw again
  • If you hit an object with your chainsaw that isn’t a pallet, you go into a miniature tantrum that lasts 2 seconds. Afterwards, you switch off your chainsaw and have a 15 seconds cooldown before you can bring out your chainsaw again.
  • And if you are hit with a pallet, you go into an extended animation where not only do you get your vision lowered, you also look further down to look at a cut the chainsaw makes on your leg, but has no mechanical change except for extending the time of pallet stuns (4 seconds). This will not cause a cooldown.


  • Consequential changes: Brand New Addons*
  • Broken glasses (C)/ A pair of round, thin frame glasses, shattered./ Slightly decreases the extension of the pallet stun animation (3.5 seconds)
  • Cow Skull (C)/ A polished cow skull, reminiscent of the ones in The Kitchen./ Slightly reduces time switching to and from chainsaw (1.25 seconds)
  • Fryer Grease (C)/ Excess grease, used for oiling up the works of your chainsaw./ Slightly reduces the noise made by the chainsaw (30% reduction)
  • Rotten Tooth (C)/ A good luck charm from home, most find it unnerving./ Moderately decreases the healing speed of survivors injured by the chainsaw for 90 seconds; does not stack
  • Chili (U)/ A big bowl of steaming Chilli to keep you fresh and strong./ Slightly increases swing speed with the chainsaw (Total of 1.15 seconds per swing)/ "I got some good barbecue here!" — Drayton Sawyer
  • Dreyton’s Broomstick (U)/ A broomstick used to abuse from afar./ Slightly increases the range of the chainsaw attack and slightly increases the cooldown of the chainsaw after landing a hit with the chainsaw (70 seconds)
  • Knife Scratches (U)/ Scratches cover the Chainsaw's body, caused by a searing blade. Memories of reprimands fill its holder with the fear of failure./ Slightly decreases the cooldown of the chainsaw after landing a hit with the chainsaw (50 seconds) and slightly increases the tantrum after landing a hit with the chainsaw (3 seconds)
  • Petrified Opossum (U)/ A taxidermy opossum, similar to the one Grandpa kept around./ Moderately reduces time switching to and from chainsaw (1 second)
  • Potato Sack (U)/ A large hempen sack with a few feet of rope, some blonde hair, and a few blood stains/ Bubba’s Chainsaw does not automatically trigger the dying state, grants 50% bonus bloodpoints for chainsaw score events in the Deviousness category
  • Texan Oil (U)/ Prime Texan oil siphoned from the abandoned cars of your victims, only used for special occasions./ Moderately reduces the noise made by the chainsaw (35% reduction)
  • Charm bracelet (R)/ A bracelet of silver charms, seems to be of the planets./ Moderately decreases the extension of the pallet stun animation (3 seconds)/ “Saturn’s a bad influence. It’s just a particularly bad influence now, because it’s in retrograde.” -Pam
  • Greasy blood (R)/ Harvested blood from your victims running through the motor of your chainsaw, a dream come true thanks to the Entity./ Considerably reduces the noise made by the chainsaw (40% reduction)
  • Petrified Armadillo (R)/ A taxidermy armadillo, the centerpiece of the dining table. Dinner better be ready./ Considerably reduces time switching to and from chainsaw (.75 seconds), Slightly reduces pallet stun increase while using your chainsaw (3.5 seconds), slightly reduces the noise made by the chainsaw (30% reduction)
  • Skull Ornament (R)/ A good luck charm portraying the decaying beauty of your home, its comforting presence reminds you of an old technique that helps start the butchering process before the animal is dead./ Survivors injured by the chainsaw considerably suffer from the hemorrhage status effect for 120 seconds; does not stack 
  • The Beast’s Marks (R)/ Jagged marks cover the Chainsaw's body, punishment from the dark beast that lives in The Fog. Memories of violent reprimands fill its holder with the fear of failure./ Moderately decreases the cooldown of the chainsaw after landing a hit with the chainsaw (40 seconds) and moderately increases the tantrum after landing a hit with the chainsaw (4 seconds)
  • Award winning Chili (VR)/ A big bowl of spicy Chilli made famous thanks to prime meat./ Moderately increases swing speed with the chainsaw (Total of 1.10 seconds per swing)/ "The secret's in the meat" — Drayton Sawyer
  • Disturbing Lamp Shade (VR)/ A home made decoration, it tends to go unappreciated, but it leaves guests breathless./ Survivors injured by the chainsaw suffer from the exhausted status effect for 120 seconds; does not stack
  • Rusty Monkey Wrench (VR)/ An old, rusty monkey wrench./ Removes the extension of the pallet stun (2.5 seconds)/ “You remember what happened last time, Child, do not let it happen again” 
  • Straight Razor (VR)/ A long, bloody straight razor. It was never used for shaving, but it was Nubbin’s favorite./ Moderately increases the range of the chainsaw attack and moderately increases the cooldown of the chainsaw after landing a hit with the chainsaw (80 seconds)/ “I thought you was in a hurry!” -Nubbins Sawyer
  • Momma’s Makeup (UR)/ A box of make-up that was used by Mama. One has to look their best for dinner, especially when guests are present./ You no longer have the blind status effect while using your chainsaw, when you get hit with a pallet, your extended animation includes automatically destroying the pallet, and whenever you are blinded or miss an attack and hit a wall, you move 10% faster for 5 seconds. This speed increase can only occur every 60 seconds."
