Dear Dead By Daylight: Nightmare/Freddy Kreuger Changes (Excerpt)

Hello again,

I uploaded a document (and accompanying forum post) titled Dear Dead by Daylight about a month ago which has been getting incredible feedback from you guys here in the community, but the biggest suggestion was to split all the change ideas into multiple documents to make them easily digestible. Today, I bring you suggestions for changing The Nightmare. If you want to know my reasoning or check out the rest of the changes, I'll leave a link to the main post as well as the previous article. "While asleep, survivors are given the blind status, not oblivious, while in the dream state, you don’t hear a lullaby but the scratch sounds of his claws, make clocks not person specific, and visually change how he looks when he phases in and out of the dream world, ideally by making him appear from a cloud blood mist. 

Instead of just teleporting to generators, he is able to teleport to any asleep survivor whenever their aura is revealed to him. It takes him 5 seconds to do so, and he teleports right next to wherever the survivor was standing when he starts to teleport. In addition, whenever an asleep survivor fails a skill check outside of his terror radius, they are revealed as a silhouette and can be teleported to for a brief amount of time (3 seconds). Whenever an asleep survivor performs a rushed action outside of his terror radius without using Quick and Quiet, they are revealed and can be teleported to.

When he begins teleporting his laugh emits from the point he will teleport to and blood mist will conglomerate where he will reform. His laugh can be heard from up to 40 meters away during the teleportation and is directional. 

He is affected by the blind status while he does this and just sees at his previous position until the teleportation is complete. Additionally, during this process his current body is covered with blood mist until he completes the teleportation. 

He may cancel the teleportation, but it will give him the full cooldown regardless. His teleport cooldown is still reduced based on the number of survivors who are asleep. Switch dream pallets to be default and blood snares to be addons (Garden Rake, Prototype claws, and Paint Thinner). Additionally, failing self-heal checks will not wake survivors up. Finally, change his chase music to a rendition of “Jesse and the Police” from the A Nightmare on Elm Street soundtrack.

  • Consequential changes: Sheep Block and Unicorn Block now apply the oblivious status effect instead of blindness; Kid’s drawing makes it so dream pallets last for an extra second after being thrown down and Freddy can move through them, but while moving through it Freddy has a -10% movement hinderance; Kid’s Drawing, Cat Block, Sheep Block, Unicorn Block, Z Block, Garden Rake, Prototype Claws, Paint Thinner, Nancy’s Sketch, and Nancy’s Masterpiece now apply to dream snares instead of dream pallets; Class Photo now causes blood mist to appear next to everyone as if he were teleporting to them"
