How are you supposed to get out of Yellow ranks as killer?

Matchmaking is so broken it keeps putting me against optimal purple and red ranks who actually know what the hell they're doing, while I stumble because I'm not quite used to this yet. I feel like I play well and get enough going to where I should rank up, but I don't. Does Behavior just hate the killers? I'm so disheartened by this. Rank changes can't happen soon enough.
