Deathslinger chain breaking on escape area

edited March 2020 in Bug Reporting

Summary:

Sometimes when harpooning a survivor in the gate area by the exit, the chain does not pull them and they are able to break it instantly and escape.

Description:

Most matches I have made some good shots in the gate area, even right across the wall pieces, and pulled those survivors out okay. However, a few times now I have seen it where the survivor will still somehow trigger their escape even whilst harpooned and after I have begun the reeling process. The chain breaks without stun effect or sound effect and they run off.

I do not believe this should be possible. If they had not already escaped the map, then they are fair game to be reeled in, especially if I am in position to land a shot on them. Survivors should not dawdle in the exit gates, and those that do so are punished by this killer ability, so it seems unfair for them to have their cake and eat it like this.

By being harpooned they are fastened to me and I have begun to reel them away from the exit, they do not have a chance to move backwards towards the exit.

Super frustrating when you've managed to cover the gate and you're looking to secure that survivor and you land the shot but get nothing.

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Play Deathslinger.
  2. Survivor standing in the exit area, in line or just past the brick columns.
  3. Hook survivor and start to reel them.
  4. ??? Survivor struggles side to side?
  5. Survivor triggers their exit despite being pulled away from the exit line.

ive had a very similar experience today, the only difference is that it wasnt in an exit gate area.

basically, i speared a Nea who immediately broke free from the chain less than a second after it hit her - and it certainly did, as she screamed and turned around in the reeling animation, just to immediately turn back and keep running.

    might be the same thing?

That is a different bug, but it is also one that has been occasionally happening to me. It happens most of the time when a survivor is about to drop a pallet and rarely happens when they doing nothing
