Dear Dead By Daylight: Major Gameplay Additions (Excerpt)
Hey everyone,
You've probably seen this stuff floating around for awhile on the forums, but in case you didn't know, I uploaded a document (and accompanying forum post) titled Dear Dead by Daylight about awhile ago which has been getting incredible feedback from you guys here in the community, but the biggest suggestion was to split all the change ideas into multiple documents to make them easily digestible.
Today, I bring you suggestions for changing major gameplay issues. I know that's a vague category, but I didn't want to release all of these changes as separate articles. For reference, this is meant to alter strategies involving bodyblocking, the race for hatches, bad luck in terms of gameplay, basement camping, and the use of ebony memento moris.
If you want to know my reasoning or check out the rest of the changes, I'll leave a link to the main post as well as the previous article. Please leave constructive criticism and/or support, you're feedback is invaluable. Thanks again,
NorMak3
P.S. This list isn't perfect and I may change things on the main document based on new data, but I don't plan on changing anything on these fragment posts, so if something seems off, make sure to check the main document or comments to make sure it isn't already fixed.
- "Prevent the ability to stand near the hook and block hooking completely. Instead make there 3 places to stand for putting someone on the hook, 1 central to the hook, 1 to the left of the hook, and 1 to the right of the hook. At least that way if they want to body block directly, it has to be the entire team. (Body blocking is too easy and too common, survivors should be able to find other ways to get in the way of the killer and distract them)
- If the hatch is closed by the killer, gates open 20% faster.
- Add a timer that starts at the beginning of the game that, if a survivor dies during it, they not lose progress on their rank. Each survivor has their own individual timer that is unaffected by everyone else’s timer. It starts at 4 minutes and is paused as long as the survivor is in the dying state and the timer is still running. If a survivor is hooked before the timer runs out, the timer gains an additional 30 seconds of time. If another survivor disconnects from the game before the timer runs out, the timer gains an additional 60 seconds of time.
- Add in an elevator that exists in one of the corners of the basement that doesn't have the chest or the stairs. It can be accessed by an elevator shaft that is randomly placed along a wall somewhere else in the map. It can only be called to the exterior shaft once 3 generators have been done, but can be called to the basement at any time. It takes 3 seconds to call the elevator, 3 seconds to have the elevator close the doors, and 5 seconds to get to its destination. Up to 2 survivors can occupy the elevator at any one time. If the elevator is used completely (meaning that survivors travel in the elevator both ways), it has a cooldown of 2 minutes before being able to be used again. When it arrives at its destination, it makes a loud, directional dinging noise. The elevator exit must spawn at least 50 meters from the basement.
- Change the Ebony Memento Mori to only be able to kill a survivor if they would be sacrificed on their next hook. "
