Yup, it's not just his hair either, it's a lot of survivor and killer hair. Their "optimizations" make the hair look worse while not improving FPS at all.

I dunno how, it's a graphical downgrade on every level, it even makes NEW hair pieces look worse. Look at Yui's cosmetic with a mask and ponytail on Low settings, then switch it to ultra; it makes it look like her hair was burned off.

To be fair, Kate's has been the one improvement that came out of it.

They changed the hairs in hope of them look more realistic , but they just made it even worse by forcing everyone to use TAA which makes the whole game BLURRY and UGLY. Back then low was the most beautiful quality because there wasn't any kind of Anti-Aliasing, and everyone liked the game like that. I don't know who had the idea to change the hairs, honestly

Kate's happened before all of this, that was a model change and not an optimization one. Her hair changes from that update did look better imo
