Why is Insidious still part of the game?
Can you please rework Insidious or remove it? It's seriously an awful perk that promotes toxic gameplay. There's absolutely nothing fun about it. Yes 3 people can just do gens and escape the trial, but for the person who is subjected to it, it's really sad.
I can't tell you how many Insidious Bubba's I get, who just sit there and camp. You can't even use BT cause there's no terror radius, you can't escape cause his saw is an AoE.
Please listen to your community. It's time to remove this toxic perk or rework it to remove this negative kind of interaction in the game. I'm honestly shocked it's still around at all.

I agree, it does promote that hook-camp mentality but I like to use it for jump scare moments - waiting around in unexpected places.
Most games that I play I do so with video captures in mind.
Not sure how the devs feel about this perk, but given how they feel about the camping strategy I'd say they are fine with it.

It's the remnant of the developing stage when this game was meant to be scary and, as such, Insidious would have brought the jumpscare factor.
It should have been deleted a long time ago, together with a bunch of other stuff.

Insidious is there for all the player who like camping and its there to counter borrow time i think if you remove insidious you should remove borrow time
1 -
How does that even remotely make sense as a counter?
1 -
If you think someone is about to go for a save, stand still and then go for the attack once they save.
Onto the point of the post, it needs a rework definitely.
1 -
Insidious get rid of your terror radius you need a terror radious to be able to borrow time so thats why in my opinion if one of those perk get rework the other perk should be rework too its only fair

Like if you removed noed you should remove sprint burst too.

Wait y sprint bursts? I would have said adrenaline sprint burst doesn't make sense at all

Agreed. I suggested an Insidious rework a while back on this subforum which essentially boils down to making it only work while you're in a chase, BUT lasting for the remainder of the chase, instead of when you start moving again. (and, perhaps changing the activation time to something like 4/3.5/3 seconds)
Of course, this would make Insidious essentially a better Beast of Prey, so that Perk would obviously have to get looked at too (not like Beast of Prey is in a good spot anyway), but I think it'd make it an extremely viable chase mindgaming perk.
I think my biggest issue with current Insidious is that while the counter to camping is supposed to be genrushing and Borrowed Time, Insidious makes it unreasonable for Survivors to figure out that camping's actually what's going on (and therefore rush gens) and is an easy counter to Borrowed Time.
I don't think it's reasonable to go to Rank 20s who keep getting wiped by brainless facecamping Bubbas and say "well, you see, if someone's hooked in the basement and the killer is camping down there, you're supposed to ignore them and rush the generators as fast as possible. Now, you can't rely on the Terror Radius that normally informs you about the Killer's location because this perk you were probably totally unaware of exists, so you have to learn this thing called hook gymnastics that Survivors on hook use to communicate with each other, and you also have to hope the other R20 on the hook also knows hook gymnastics, and doesn't have it the wrong way round which is an extremely common Survivor misconception or is just spamming unhook animations because they're bored, and if they've hit the Struggle phase and can't do gymnastics, just git gud <3"

I'd say Adrenaline over Sprint Burst, one puts you from one hit to two, the other puts you from two hits to one.

Honestly good question. It's weird, and doesn't really have many/beneficial uses if you're looking for a game with lots of points and good emblems.
I believe Otzdarva even tried to use it strategically in chase, but it just didn't work out. Tried it myself, didn't get much better results.

Someone once made an idea that Insidious should instead grant Undetectable for x seconds after you hook a survivor, allowing killers to roam the map with less worry over who is watching them or having their tactics ruined.
Much better than "BHVR made this perk, so obviously that means i was meant to camp with it"
The fact they added Undetectable to the current iteration of Insidious without any mechanical changes was just lazy and irresponsible

Cause devs like to pet their frustrating killer gameplay for toxic killers.

I like using Insidious and popping around corners to scare survivors who think I've left their item, their gen, their exit gate, or a combination of two of the three. Insidious camping isn't fun for survivors because the killer never feels safe enough to chase after survivors who have unknowingly stumbled into them, and therefore killers simply have to wait for the hooked survivor to die and forgo any chases longer than a few seconds. Rather than remove Insidious, improve the killer's ability to end chases quickly and decrease the killer's abilities to find survivors. Correspondingly, reduce the distance survivors can get on a killer when starting a chase and increase a survivor's ability to stealth in close proximity to the killer.
That's not THE way to solve the problem you bring up, but it is a version to consider, for what it's worth.

Lol @ downvote. Have a nice day, champ.

lol, i was being sarcastic.
The only way the exchange for bt and isidious works if you assume that camping is OK because you THINK someone has BT, you have no way to detemine until its already proc'd..
It's an arbitrary exchange, hardly a flushed out idea.
It reminds of a killer once saying back in the day that once infinites were removed, there would be no reason to camp people anymore. I lol'd because he had no concept of how people have the capacity to kid themselves that they are right.
People will ACTIVELY work against a truth, even if it counters their belief system.

I thought this was a thread of stupid ideas.

There's so much reach in that idea that it almost unbelievable.

Will be honest, insidious needs a rework, as for camping however there is nothing we can do. I hate it with my heart but there are some people who just play that playstyle.

just do gens. ez

I always assume survivor got BT just like when im on the survivor side i always assume the killer got bbq

I like the idea of that being able to have the undetectable effect after hooking someone. Would be like dark devotion or somthing
0 -
I've seen that argument before.
There are so many perk/addons/traits to keep in mind that the raw cognitive ability to remember EVERYTHING is impossible.
But hey, your the exception to the rule.

That was for bringing it in line with other stealth perks (Beast of Prey and Dark Devotion)... but it needs to change. Kindred still counters insidious camping though. : P

Yes okay, good to see you actually read the thread. I said 3 people can just do gens, that's fine. But it's still an awful experience for the one survivor subjected to it. They should be able to play the game too.

I dont need to remember all the perk just the meta one so if you start a game and you assume every survivor got dead hard, adrenaline, desicive strike and borrow time you dont need to remember all the perk its the same when im survivor i always assume killer got Bbq, Noed, and pop goes to weasel with a flex for the 4 perk and you shoupd do the same game will be much easier like that

Yeah having been the first person caught and facecamp. It truly is you sitting there doing nothing for the rest of the game or maybe for a few seconds before you get caught and cut down again. While getting very few blood points as well. That and depending on your team. They might just give the killer a easy 4k due to swarming the hook, due to lack of information.

i did read the thread. other people do gens and get out, thats fine. as for the 1 person sometimes its just tough luck honestly. maybe try unhook yourself and us DS? either way its a viable strategy for the killer, and in all fairness you do actually have to get caught first.
if the killer wants to throw the game for 1 kill let em and theyll stay in low ranks
