Do you defend dcing? If so why?
I was reading through the hatch tech post (suggest you check it out). And the amount of people defending a exploit surprised me. I saw "well if you play this killer im dcing" so i can't play a killer who was made and put in the game without you dcing? Alright. And another one was slugging for the 4k (which personally i play both sides slugging is boring) BUT slugging is not exploiting it is a strategy just like camping. Should i dc because you keep going to a god loop over and over? And dcing to basically let your friend go free is considered cheating and a exploit. I dont like being left on the ground but i dont blame the killer for wanting to maxamize his points. We have unbreakable and adrenaline for a reason. I normally play with one other person and we don't do that i personally run unbreakable just in case and if the killers slugging i might tell my friend just to hide if he can.Anyways those are just my thoughts id love to hear other peoples thank you and have a nice day! (Just incase people wanna say "probably isnt even red ranks "here)

I don't defend disconnecting for hatch or just quitting because you lost but there are definitely situations where dcing is totally justified.
I think what people mean by dcing because of slugging is when killers slug until everyone bleeds out, not hooking anyone even though everyone is downed and make people wait 4 minutes for no reason. I don't blame anyone for disconnecting against that, it's literally a waste of time and it's something they should have addressed before adding the penalties.

Cases I defend people from DCing:
-Unfair hits (dedicated servers issue and vpn killers)
-Getting ddosed (hacked)
-Getting sandbagged and no way to do anything
-The killer is being sweaty, as slugging with no winning reason
-They got farmed
-It's a ptb
-irl issue
To prevent people from DCing as killer, I punish the survivors who ruin the experience from others and I give them a chance. I would show an example of a video report I have but the name isn't covered, bassically a survivor bodyblocked another and waited to call my attention, but I killed the bodyblocker instead and let the other one scape.

I'll say basically the same thing here as I did in there...
DCing is bad. You shouldn't DC. That being said, I can understand someone DCing without condoning it.
If a killer is just being an ######### at the end and making you lie there to bleed out, I understand why someone would get frustrated and leave. If a group of survivors clearly outmatch a killer and do everything in their power to flaunt and taunt them, I understand why they would get frustrated and leave.
I can both be against DCing but understand that someone doesn't want to throw away their precious free time going up against opponents hellbent on making the time as miserable as humanly possible.

DCin imo is situational just like a killer choosin to camp/tunnel at end game and even the beginnin, but i find it very selfish someone DCin when they get downed once leavin the rest of us in sh*t.... Smh
1 -
No need to dc, if your opponent is super toxic or if there is no hope for the match, just Alt+tab to YouTube. They can watch you bleed out while you get a snack and watch DbD funny videos
5 -
i do in the following cases:
- game crash / connection loss
- hacks
- exploits abuse
- gamebreaking bugs
- irl problems
- being held hostage
but if someone DCs cause they were about to lose (e.g. getting slugged as the 3rd player), thats not an excuse and should be punished.

Can you imagine if a player on a sports team just threw a tantrum if something didn't go how they wanted and walked out of the match?
....oh wait Football (soccer) exists...nvm.
3 -
Yes I do because I really don't care, it's a game, while I don't DC myself I really don't care if a survivor DC's on my team or against me when I play killer, it's so far away from the things i care about in life.
4 -
Can you imagine if the player magically had the ball stolen even though nobody was there within a 20 foot radius? I don't think anybody would want to watch or play that.
And lol at the football bit
4 -
The only time I think it's fair to DC is if you have an IRL issue, not that there is any way for anyone to really know that. Other than that there is no real advantage to anyone DCing for any reason.
I'm speaking of intentional disconnecting, of course. Not disconnecting because your internet took a dump.
1 -
I shouldn't be forced to endure a VPN killer with 500 ping who hits me from across the map.
2 -
Then die on first hook and get it over with. It's a lot faster than waiting on the penalty timer. XD
2 -
A strong gust of wind caaaaaaaaaan take that ball away.
Coach- *Alright team we are running with plan *Blow hard*! Lets blow their balls away!
Steve- *Uh, Coach we really need a better nam-*
Team Cap- *Your on the bench Steve!*
Steve - ( ._.)

The point is I shouldn't even have to do this. What if he just slugs me and never hooks me? I just get stuck in this hellhole and get punished for leaving it.
What if a Killer wants to farm and doesn't let me do gens to leave? These oversights aren't acceptable.
2 -
It's annoying, but it's not the end of the world. At that point you're just wasting more time for less benefit to wait on a lobby, DC from the game, wait on the penalty, then wait for another lobby.
0 -
The point is there shouldn't be a penalty for this very reason. They didn't fix the actual important reasons to allow DCing before disallowing it.
1 -
If a killer wants to farm, odds are you won’t be the only survivor alive. This is a rather extreme scenario, and you can always get hatch if you are or at least force EGC.
0 -
The situation I am laying out is I try to gen rush to leave the match but the Killer (and survivors) keep me on the ground to prevent me from doing that.
0 -
Other than being held hostage (and I mean ACTUALLY being held hostage indefinitely), real life emergencies or facing a hacker, there is no ever a reason to DC.
DCing because RNG was against you, because you felt cheated despite not actually being cheated, because some player isnt playing the way you want, for exploiting the hatch, to deny challenges/dailies. Any of those reasons, you deserve the timeout you get and more.
1 -
Are there really still people defending DC? Unless a real life emergency happens there is no excuse to DC at all. 4 minute bleed out on the ground is less than a 5 minute penalty for the record.
2 -
I highly doubt there will ever be a game with all 3 teammates AND the killer trolling you.
0 -
If they want to farm, they will farm.
0 -
Then stay away from the farmers and do a gen. If they’re trying to get unhook points just let them and try to ######### on hook. If they pull you off, they will most likely focus on doing the same with someone else, giving you a chance to leave the area and work on a gen.
0 -
Dude I'm giving you a scenario that literally happened to me. They kept me on the ground to prevent me from gen rushing and leaving.
0 -
I agree, it's shocking. The amount of people justifying DCing...
"But what if I don't wanna go against X, Y, or Z!"
But what if your team mates don't want to deal with a disconnect in their online multiplayer game? All these defenses of DCing are always saying "I don't want this, I don't want that!" The problem with this, is that they say that after queueing up for an online multiplayer game where they're putting their "team" at a disadvantage. It's just all about selfishness and entitlement. And I hate that word, "entitlement." But that's what it is.
People can't just accept that sometimes we should consider how what we're doing affects those around us.
3 -
And how many times has this “scenario” happened? Probably just that ONE time. If they’re taking the game hostage, REPORT THEM and move on. DCing needs to exist because your scenario will probably happen 1 out of 1000 games, while people DCing for stupid reasons can happen every other game.
1 -
There are plenty of reasons to DC in a game that isn't perfect by any stretch of the imagination. I'm sorry you can't see that.
0 -
Yes, but most are not justifiable. Sorry you can’t see that.
2 -
Well said. Before the penalty kicked in people would go so far as to have there steam name as things like legion=DC or whatever they particularly dislike going against = DC. Truly was a pathetic time in the game.
1 -
You keep telling yourself that.
0 -
- nobody said you can't play any killer, they just said they don't want to play against that killer. so they can't hook suicide which was made and put in the game without you complaining on forums? alright (if they dc instead of hook suicide they must be really low iq...)
- what is the point posting a post with exactly the same complain other post had and even citing that post?
1 -
So what is your genius solution to prevent crybabies from DCing when they load in and are the first to get downed, or see a killer/addon they don’t like facing?
1 -
Fix the problems that make people want to DC and accept that some babies will DC regardless.
1 -
So remove Spirit from the game because some players don’t like going against her? Gotcha. Maybe you should be part of the balance team.
4 -
Only if it's obvious someone is cheating, I don't like playing those games cause its not fair or fun for either side.
0 -
Nah. It's bannable and there are very few scenarios in which it is justifiable.
0 -
People dc just because you play a character you want them to delete that character?
0 -
Improve that character. Make them fun to play as and against.
1 -
It's funny how obvious certain people are about their bias and entitlement.
Yes, I DCed once as a killer when I was new(er) because I got red rank people that were just trolling and refusing to end the game and I wasn't good enough at the time to catch anyone. (They even said after the game that this was their goal) But it was still a ######### move on my part. I was frustrated and did something I consider to be wrong and I wouldn't try to justify it at all.
I'm not perfect, but I won't try to justify my failings.
Some people here though, jeez. It's crazy to read the mental gymnastics to justify their actions just because they didn't want to "lose".
3 -
I defend DCing if you need to leave for something in real life or if a life-threatening emergency comes up unprecedently.
0 -
This is the only reason for DC’ing I’ve read in this thread that I’ve agreed with.
0 -
The game would be unplayable if they catered to everyone like that.
People DC for being found first and downed... should those guys get a free Borrowed Time effect if they’re the first to be chased? Maybe make it so the poor baby can’t get hooked within the first 2 minutes of the match?
0 -
If people want to DC, they will DC. If they can't DC, they just suicide on hook. The only realistic solution you can implement is improving the game so people don't want to do that.
1 -
Well, being honest. I don't DC but sometimes it's justified. Real Life issues and bugs are "knowing fair reasons" to DC.
But as many told, what about instead of kill everyone just let them in the ground. And yes, the game can progress but Why do I need to be stuck four minutes without doing anything at all? I'ld rather move on.
I went to save someone from the hook in a match, then everybody leaves when I was on the ground. Why am I forced to wait until the EGC ends to leave the match? It's not only unfun but we can say it's griefing, since it's made just to get someone annoyed.
And no, I am not a toxic survivor with click-click and teabagging, I play killer quite often, I am main Pig and I know what it's needing to wait until the EGC ends because they refuse to go out, just for bothering you.
I think a player is DC'ing just because there are things that he/she thinks it's unfair. As an example, many people DCed because the killer found them first and they were lying on the ground. Does that mean they did it on purpose because they don't like to loss? Not really, camping as legal the strategy is, it's boring. Killing yourself on hook grants points to that person who uses that "strategy" and it means another survivor is going to be frustrated with that "strategy".
In normal online games, camping in no way is a strategy and it's punished in someway because it's not fun. The same happended with infinites, infinites weren't fair and everyone agrees on it, with exception on some salty people. But behaviour said it recquired skill so it should stay and everyone knows how stressful was to run against a survivors who exploited an infinite.
0 -
That situation is actually reportable. Farming on it's own is fine but if the killer signals you out to extend the game because you don't want to farm, you can report them. Same as the survivors not picking you up as that'd probably fall under griefing.
In that specific situation I don't think you should DC but instead should start recording them, wait for the match to finish and then report all of them.

I have been getting a lot of connection errors recently and I kind of understand why people get mad about the penalty, but its a necessary evil. I would rather have people killing themselves on hook than them disconnecting because 1. It gives me more points as killes 2. It wastes some of the killers time, even if just by a margin
0 -
So being held hostage or trapped by a game breaking bug aren't proper justification? Just tab out and stop playing dbd until the killer gets bored or the game crashes?
0 -
If I'm playing vs. people who are playing on Mcdonald's WiFi, ima just eat the ban
2 -
Dcing for anything which is part of the game cannot be justified. Camping, tunelling, slugging, survivors using certain perks or loops, offerings, items etc are all in the game and they should be accepted.
We do afterall have made the choice to play this game knowing those can and will happen.
The only valid reasons to DC are for real life issues or a game bug where the match cannot end.
6 -
Yeah ive experienced that as well
